Going Crazy for pom pom key rings and all things crowned
As mentioned in other posts these last few months I’ve had a major crush on key rings, bag bling, bag charms, whatever the name, I’ve been going nuts for them. Also, I’ve been after some bits and pieces for my bag makeover and have been on the hunt for anything with crowns on, or with sparkle.
I managed to get the pink crystal pens below from a local chain store and the rest came from eBay. I’m quite disappointed in the black crowns. I was supposed to get a mixed batch of colours, got three blacks and a white that broke, and the ink is black instead of blue. The others are nice and I’ll still be on the lookout for anything royal and sparkly.
Here are the pom poms. I COULD NOT resist these they are so damn cute and fluffy and soft. Who can go past unicorns and flamingos?
I also had to get colours. Pinks, blues and some aqua/mint green to go with. The rest are hearts. Red, pink and blue. Strangely, the pink came out as red in the pic.
I also bought these sequinned purses for carrying notebooks but the notebooks are too big. I’ll end up using them for something else so they won’t go to waste.
And I found these key rings in a local chain store for $3 each. I’m such a sucker for sparkly things…
And I found these crystal flamingo and unicorn key rings, crown paperclips, star and crown foldable bag hooks, and a new pink key case.
All of these things are going somewhere and I’ll get to that blog post in the future. What are you addicted to lately?

BUSINESS STYLE: Awesome Coloured Storage Containers from Officeworks
With all of the writing I do, in A4 spiral bound notebooks, this is a quick and easy way I found to keep all three author names in check. I needed containers to store said notebooks and printed edits and while I could use another huge container of 20 liters or more, these were an easier alternative.
At the moment they’re stored in the bedroom on a small table, but once I get my new bookshelves, hopefully they’ll fit on a shelf so all of my books/business stuff is together.
I bought three colours, blue, pink and green, to keep things separate.
They have easy to use clips and a handle, stand on their ends or sides for easy storage and have red, purple and clear as well.
What do you guys use for storage of documents and notebooks?

Tax Time Shopping haul
In the prelude to a “what’s in my bag/I’m overhauling my bag” post, I’ve been buying up a lot of stuff, such as key rings and anything to do with crowns.
Tax time was June, but sales are still going and I managed to get this haul from a variety of stores.
TOP: the rainbow laptop bag is the second one I’ve purchased from Typo. I wanted a spare in case the first got wrecked. Silver crown stickers and pink and blue crown pens both came from cheap chain stores.
BOTTOM ROW: lips and unicorn badges from Typo, two blue bag blings from Colette, two blue and silver key rings from Kmart along with a green heart key ring.
ON THE RIGHT: pink glitter nail file, pink glitter pencil/case, life saver cosmetic purse I plan on using in my bag.
BELOW: I needed to update my pencil and texta/marker collection (more on that in future). Mine are more than 30 years old and running out. I eventually decided on Faber Castell, since that’s what my original pencils and textas were, and found small sharpers as well. I also found gemstone and glittered star stickers, and a glittered compact mirror and a pair of pink crown tweezers.
What have you guys been stocking up on lately?

Welcome to the family, Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy Gold Couture
I haven’t bought perfume since last year. But I recently ran out and needed to buy something new. So I went along to my local store and had a sniff of a few new scents and loved this new Juicy one so much I booked up the $69 for a 100ml bottle and took it home. It’s my first Juicy perfume and I might get the pink one too. It even smells better than the original Viva La Juicy.
What perfumes have you bought recently?

STYLE NOTES: My Latest Unicorn Shopping haul
God love Kmart!
The company here in Aus had a major overhaul about five years ago and started making their goods in their own factories, in Bangladesh I think it was. That greatly reduced the price of most things and everything on the shelf came straight from their manufacturing plants.
Now, they’ve moved their plants to China to make everything cheaper again, and they’ve also tried to match up to awesome stationery store Typo by getting in lots of erasers, notebooks and other stationery. A big line so far this year has been rainbows and unicorn, plus lots of bag bling.
The other good thing, is my local Kmart is getting bigger. That means more goodies for me!
Here’s my latest Kmart haul below.
Bag bling has been a big thing for me this year, not only did I get another gold heart, but I found a bunch of initial keyrings in pink and blue, which I had scoured eBay for and not found. These were $3 each (more on what I’m doing with them in future posts). The unicorn zip purse was $5 and is glittered. Must.have.unicorns…
The next lot of unicorn goodies came in the form of a furry diary with lock and key. Two pack of notebooks, one unicorn, one mermaid. Two shiny bag bling tassels, and a unicorn pencil case…
BUT!
Not only can you use the pencil case for a pencil case, BUT! you can use it for a compendium. And I’ve been big on compendiums this year. Love goodies that be used more than one way.
What awesome goodies have you bought from Kmart lately, and are you into unicorns!

The weather was all over the place, sunny days one minute, cold, windy, wintry days the next. We had a couple of appointments and what not, but the month was busy trying to deal with companies that weren’t playing nice. No wonder my hair has thinned dramatically over the last year.

Jewel Divas Style turns 8 and is sticking around!
This time last year I did a rather lengthy blog post about how much longer I’d be doing this. Fact of the matter is, I didn’t know then and I don’t know now. I’m rather invigorated as I write this, even though it’s July. I’ve got so much on the go it’s exciting and I’ll talk more about that later in the year. But it also means other things have suffered. Like my jewellery business which I currently do not have the energy, but mainly the money or time, to put into.
Hopefully, when things turn around, jewellery will be put back up for sale. Hopefully, when I’m not churning out books every month I will have the time and money to make a website once again. For now, it’s in holiday mode until I have the money to upload some.
Jewel Divas Style is 8 today. 8 years ago I set up a little blogger blog on blogspot under the name of jeweldivasjewellery (someone had already taken jewel divas) and posted pics of jewellery I was selling and talked about the legalities I was dealing with. Over the years the name changed slightly, it became the second tier of the Jewel Divas brand, and I made it more personal, more sparkly. I don’t just post about jewellery, what I make or buy, but I post about all things sparkly, clothes, stationery, books, all sorts, anything I want to post about.
Anyhoo, after deciding to post only twice a week it’s given me some time to get my shit together, business wise. Or should that be book wise. As you know, I’ve been releasing books this year, Poems of a Musical Flavour and Vol 6 is out Aug 1st, and I have other books and stories going under two other names. It’s a very busy year for books this year, and hopefully next year, it will be less hectic, but just as exciting.
It would seem the book side of me has come smashing out in the last year, and the jewellery side has retreated for a break. I worked so hard on my jewellery business from 2008, but with the ever growing ill health of me and my mother, and the burgeoning book side, something had to give, and it ended up being the jewellery.
Hopefully one day, in the next year or so, the book side will calm down some so that both sides can hum along nicely side by side and take up equal amounts of time. Not to mention the exciting plan I’ll be telling you about at the end of the year. But what I can tell you, is that Jewel Divas Style is sticking around for the rest of the year and next year at this stage so you will get to see lots more sparkly unicorns and rainbows.
