The Heavenly Host will go on sale for Thanksgiving in the US and UK.
(No other Amazon's do countdowns...)
On November 23 the price will start at USD/GBP 0.99 and over the course of 7 days will make it's way back up to full price.

Into the Abyss; Book 1 Kindle Coundown starts Oct 1, 2015
Hi,
As a reminder to anyone that wants to recommend the series to friends, I will be having a Kindle Countdown sale starting October 1st to coincide with the release of Book 2, The Heavenly Host.
This will be in the Amazon US and UK stores (the only place KCountdowns exist).
The price will start at 99 cents/pence and increment by 1 USD/GBP evenly over 7 days until back to full price.
There will be a clock showing how long until the next price increase. In the US figure you have roughly 30 hours at each price point.
So get the word out to your friends so they can get the first book cheap!

Random Heavenly Host Info
Random info on The Heavenly Host
Dead Tree is 580 pages thanks to me getting better at margin magic.
Dead Tree is still $19.99. Which means if buy via "extended distribution" channels I make like $0.18 per book...but that's cool. Amazon or Create Space are my preferred vendors.
I will post a CreateSpace coupon for the Dead Tree at www.astlan.net (like I did for Into the Abyss) that will lower the price quite a bit; but they don't do Prime shipping.
Hoping to have Dead Tree available on Oct 1, 2015 as well, but that's a slower process so might be a day or two later.
Yes, the e-book is available in the Kindle Lending Library and via Kindle Unlimited.

There will be a Kindle Countdown Sale at some point for The Heavenly Host, but Amazon has a minimum time period before I can do that. No idea when that will happen.
Actual book is 11% longer by Word Count than Into The Abyss.
Word Count (including appendices) is 274,005 for the Kindle Edition. Word Count for Volume 1, 2d Edition was 247,360
Appendices are all at the end with hyperlinks to and from where they would have gone in book 1.
Volume starts with Chapter 80 because it is actually a second volume, not a second book. It's not a sequel it's the same book "Demons of Astlan" just put out in multiple volumes.
So it takes off immediately after the end of volume 1, with no time delay.
If you like to reread books and it's been a while, I do recommend rereading volume 1 and just keep going as if it's one long book because that's how it's intended.
Yes, volume 3 is under way it is currently about 10% the length of volume 2, so it will be a little while, but hopefully not as long as between 1 and 2.
And volume 3 starts by overlapping the final chapters of volume 2. So again, it's all one big book.
Things are a bit more complicated in Volume II as the number of players starts to increase.
There are fewer tables and charts.
As always more info and discussions are available at www.astlan.net which has been updated to reflect The Heavenly Host including some hints of what is to come, including an updated "Who's Who" to include new characters.

The Heavenly Host is Coming
I received the edited manuscript this morning September 21. That means my clock is ticking to review the edits/deal with suggestions and format the e-book and Dead Tree edition.
I am shooting for an October 1, 2015 release for the e-book, with the paperback hopefully going up for sale at the same time.
I am going to shoot to do a presale, which I have never done before hand. But I think I have to have the book submitted 7 days in advance for the presale to go online. You submit and it takes Amazon a couple days to approve, thus the 7 day window allowing a fixed release date. (Otherwise you submit and a few days later it magically shows up depending on backlog).

Next Kindle Countdown & Book 2
Hi,
So I haven't had a Kindle Countdown on Volume I recently, this is because you can only do those like once per quarter and I was saving it for the release of Book 2...so people wanting to read Book 2 could get it cheap.
Well, as you know, Book 2 kept slipping.
So, I apologize for not having a sale recently. There will be a Kindle Countdown for Into the Abyss when Book 2 comes out.
So when is Book 2 coming out?
We are in Beta 2 at the moment. I got a lot of suggestions and then it took me about a week and a half to two weeks to update the book with the suggestions.
So right now, Beta Demons are reading Beta 2, not sure if there will be a Beta 3 or just some Beta 2.x's
Right now, I think the safe bet is to say first week in September depending on my editor's schedule. I had her booked and then had to put her on hold due to the longer Beta period.
Actually, the beta period is NOT longer; I ran late and hoped I could shorten it. I had always planned 4-8 weeks for it, and we are now in the 5th week.
Anyway, I have to say I am much happier with Beta 2; and if I can get a similar improvement by doing a Beta 3...I will do that.
So then the obvious next question will be, "When will there be a Kindle Countdown for Book 2?"
Book 2 will be on Kindle Select (e.g. lending library) from Day 1. Amazon however requires a book to be in Kindle Select for a certain length of time e.g. a month, before you can do a sale. So there will be a countdown deal within the first 3 months. Just not sure when at the moment. The two books will most likely not be on at the same time due to Amazon's minimum time between Countdown sales.

The Heavenly Host Status
Hi,
Now that ITA 2Ed is out, time for an update on Volume II: The Heavenly Host.
The Heavenly Host was handed over to the beta demons this evening.
Assuming they don't torture it too much (they are demons of course) then it is on track for an August release.
When in August? That depends on beta demon changes and the editor's schedule. She is lined up for July.
Cover is in progress as well, same artist as the 2Ed of Book 1.
BTW: As I have often said, Demons of Astlan is actually a single book that has been divided up to fit into Create Space Dead Tree books.
So...Volume II starts with Chapter 80 and takes place within seconds of the ending of Volume I. It is simply a chapter change.
So...if you were thinking of rereading Volume I? I would time it so you finish the first week or so in August.
