Next Kindle Countdown & Book 2

Hi,

So I haven't had a Kindle Countdown on Volume I recently, this is because you can only do those like once per quarter and I was saving it for the release of Book 2...so people wanting to read Book 2 could get it cheap.

Well, as you know, Book 2 kept slipping.

So, I apologize for not having a sale recently. There will be a Kindle Countdown for Into the Abyss when Book 2 comes out.

So when is Book 2 coming out?

We are in Beta 2 at the moment. I got a lot of suggestions and then it took me about a week and a half to two weeks to update the book with the suggestions.

So right now, Beta Demons are reading Beta 2, not sure if there will be a Beta 3 or just some Beta 2.x's

Right now, I think the safe bet is to say first week in September depending on my editor's schedule. I had her booked and then had to put her on hold due to the longer Beta period.

Actually, the beta period is NOT longer; I ran late and hoped I could shorten it. I had always planned 4-8 weeks for it, and we are now in the 5th week.

Anyway, I have to say I am much happier with Beta 2; and if I can get a similar improvement by doing a Beta 3...I will do that.

So then the obvious next question will be, "When will there be a Kindle Countdown for Book 2?"

Book 2 will be on Kindle Select (e.g. lending library) from Day 1. Amazon however requires a book to be in Kindle Select for a certain length of time e.g. a month, before you can do a sale. So there will be a countdown deal within the first 3 months. Just not sure when at the moment. The two books will most likely not be on at the same time due to Amazon's minimum time between Countdown sales.

Ben Yeah it's coming :)
Good work Mr Langland, I've been waiting for a while, but it will be even better because of the wait.
I read the first book again a few months ago, but might pick it up again in september to really have it fresh in my mind. The fact that it is a really good book helps quite a bit for that :)

Thanks for your hard work.

J.L. Langland Thanks!

It is not a bad idea to read right before book 2, because book 2 takes place immediately after book 1, the chapter numbers are even contiguous. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the actual "Book" is called Demons of Astlan and it is split into volumes. So while convention says "Book 1, Book 2, etc" 'Volume' is better since there is only 1 'book' and it is going to be several thousand pages long!
:)

Christian Volume 2 Finally! ;)
I read V1 back shortly after it was released and was waiting for the next one ever since ;) With V2 on the horizon, it's time to ReRead the first one again. As to the Beta schedule, i don't mind waiting a bit longer if the book gets better for it! Keep up the good work Sir, much appreciated.

J.L. Langland Doing a short Beta 3 release this weekend. It's a much smaller set of changes.

(But ones that setup something very wicked for the start of Book 3)

J.L. Langland It's at the editors now; it got to the editor the first of August, but she was moving at the end of August so wanted 8 weeks. She was about 2/3 done (before I sent her an extended version) at the start of September. Last time she came in 1.5 weeks early. Hoping she can do the same and I can get it back in the next week or so. Given the processing time after that, I would be able to do an end of September/October 1st launch.

But if I don't get it until end of September, then it's a mid October launch. That should be the latest. I need about 2 weeks after I get it back, due to needing to approve edits/do suggested revisions and then get it through the Amazon and CreateSpace "process" which takes a few days.

Fred Bartlett Looking forward to Volume 2, I've read quite a few novels since I last picked up Volume 1, but my mind keeps wandering back to check on your updates. Great read, captivating storyline. Keep'um coming Sir.

Thanks! That's high praise! Sanderson is like the Starbucks of SF! Addictive and you keep going back for a fix!
