Raditude Reviewed

I got the new Weezer album, Raditude, just after midnight on Monday night and I've been listening to it ever since.

As most of you probably know by now, Weezer is my favorite band, primarily because they created The Blue Album in 1994 and Pinkerton in 1996. For me, these are the two greatest rock albums ever created.

And so, even though I know it is completely unreasonable, each time Weezer creates a new album, there is a part of me that gets its hopes up that they will somehow turn out ...

Halloween! Uncle Envelope! The Second List!

Every year for Halloween, White River Junction has this big parade, where everyone marches down main street in their costumes. Somehow last year I totally spaced out and didn't participate at all. This year I decided to dress up as Hagrid (I was debating about whether to use my crazy beard to be Hagrid or Dumbledore, but then I figured I could have an even CRAZIER Dumbledore beard next year). Also Maris and Joe and Liz and Justin all came up from Boston, so we had a pretty awesome time. ...

Pinball 101

Okay, let's talk about a REAL pinball movie: Pinball 101.

This movie has been in the works for years and years and was just released this month. Jon got me a copy for my birthday and it tragically arrived on the same day that I was leaving for San Francisco. We watched it the night I got back, and let me tell you, this DVD is jam packed with all sorts of tips, tricks and secret pinball knowledge. To get some idea what it's like, check out the trailer.

The playing time on the DVD is 70...

Claireifornia

Yesterday I made my triumphant return to White River Junction, after a super-mega-ULTRA awesome week in California.

Now, OSTENSIBLY, this blog is about my LIFE, right? Really though, there is a lot of stuff I don't usually like writing about on here. Most of the time I try to keep it pretty "professional" and write about projects that I am working on, or things that I'm listening to, or reading, or watching, etc. because who knows who is reading this thing, and plus who wants to read a...

APE 2009

Well, APE was... "APEtastic." I hadn't been to this show since about 2004, but it was pretty much as I remembered it. Not a huge show sales-wise, but it was definitely a giant room full of super talented people. I got to meet some Phase 7 subscribers, and a few people who were pretty stoked to get the latest installment of Basewood. Plus I saw a ton of west-coast comics artists who I don't get to see too often, so that alone was worth the trip.

Nate decided to come out at the last...

Raditude, Tommy, APE

Holy smokes, I'm leaving tomorrow for the West coast and I still have a lot of stuff I need to get done. In that spirit, I'm going to combine THREE blog posts into ONE!

BLOG THE FIRST! The official release date of Weezer's 7th album, RADITUDE got bumped back to November 3rd, BUT, it is available for pre-order right now on iTunes. If this sounds like awesome news, wait 'till you get a load of THIS. Weezer has also started an "iTunes Pass" for the new album which will give you the entire ...

Phase 7 #007 is Now Available!

Well, I made my final trip to the post office this morning, so ALL the subscriber copies of Phase 7 #007 are finally in the mail!

Now that the subscriber issues have been taken care of, Phase 7 #007 is available for ordering in the comics section, which I just totally OVERHAULED.

Basically, when I started Phase 7, I didn't have to worry too much about international orders. A few popped up here and there, and initially, I was so thrilled to have readers in other countries that I just ate up t...

Grand Champions!

Well, my Phase 7 #007 release party was a smashing success. I'm fairly certain that good times were had by all. Thanks to everyone who turned out for it!

The next day (my ACTUAL 30th birthday) Jon, Max, Claire and I drove over to FUNSPOT, the world's largest video arcade, which is only about an hour and a half from White River Junction. If you've seen The King of Kong, Funspot is the arcade at the very end of the movie where Steve Wiebe tries to set the world's highest Donkey Kong score. ...

THIRTY

Today is the last day of my twenties.

Man... I had all these blog entries I wanted to write leading up to my birthday, about how it feels to be turning 30. I had this one all about how I started taking a multivitamin because I thought it would make me feel healthier, but then how it somehow made it harder for me to eat FOOD, knowing that I was getting 100% of every vitamin in an easy-to-swallow tablet. Like, why eat an orange if I already got 100% of my Vitamin C? (I KNOW, I KNOW...

King-Cat Love

Back when I was a kid, I used to have the exact same reaction every time I saw a movie. Without fail, I would walk out of the theater and turn to my Mom, or Dad, or one of my sisters, and say, "That was the BEST MOVIE I have EVER seen!!!"

It was as though the act of watching a movie was SO enjoyable, SO pleasurable, that it overloaded my mind and wiped out any knowledge of other movies I had previously seen.

As an adult, this is exactly how I feel when I read an issue of King-Cat Comics...
