Stumptown Bound!

Hey folks, just a quick reminder, that I will be at the Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, Oregon this weekend.

Just like at MoCCA, I will be tabling with Greg Means of Tugboat Press and Max De Radiguès. We'll be at table 75 all weekend, so please swing by and say hello if you are in the area.

I'm REALLY excited about this trip. Besides all of the comics fun, Claire is coming up from Oakland and Portland is also one hell of a town for Pinball. It's going to be a trip to remember!

Out With the MoCCA, In With the Stumptown!

James Sturm mentioned yesterday that I seemed a little low-energy at MoCCA this year. I guess maybe that's true...

Don't get me wrong, I still had an awesome time! I picked up a whole slew of amazing new minicomics and books (some of which are pictured above) and I got to talk to a lot of Phase 7 fans and I even sold some comics, but I guess I feel like I didn't do a great job "socializing" this year.

There are always pre-MoCCA parties, panels during the show, post-MoCCA parties, readings, ...

MoCCA 2010! Caboose!

Hey everybody, just in case you didn't know, I am going to be at the MoCCA Arts Festival this weekend in New York City!

Greg wrote to tell me that they left my name and Phase 7 out of the program AGAIN this year, but don't be fooled! I WILL be at the convention, at the Tugboat Press table, which is G-10 along the back wall.

We will also be tabling with my Belgian buddy Max, who is the Fellow this year at CCS. Max will have some of his "l'âge dur" comics (translated into ENGLISH!) and also t...

Pinball MEGA-update

Okay, okay. Enough of all this SELF-PUBLISHING nonsense. I know what you readers are REALLY itching for... another post about PINBALL! (Right?)

Yes, Jon Chad and I have still been chasing the silver ball a few times each week, in search of the perfect game. I set a new personal best of 136 million points on the Episode I machine and I've GOTTEN to the Jedi Master round a number of times, but I have yet to beat it (and there is still Jedi Spirit to achieve after THAT!)

It seems like it...

Casey Bohn: Phase 7 Intern!

ANOTHER reason I was able to get so much done during this past March, was that I had some HELP!

As part of their graduation requirements, each CCS student must have 60 hours of internship credit. At the end of February, CCS senior Casey Bohn asked me if I needed an intern. At first I thought, "An intern? Nah..." but THEN I thought about all of the projects that were looming on the horizon, and quickly reconsidered!

Casey scanned in most of the sketchbook drawings in Phase 7 #015 then...

MARCHED

Well, another March has come and gone. And once again, Greg and I exchanged an email every single day last month, to give progress updates about our current projects. And, just like last year, I was also emailing on the side with my pal Andy Jewett every day too. With Greg in Portland, Andy in Indiana and me in Vermont, this meant coast-to-coast productivity all month! Could you feel it?

If you and a friend (or two or three or four) have a lot of work you need to get done in a short...

Thanks Walmart!

I'm trying to think of an activity MORE depressing than going to your local grocery store for the last time, but right now I am drawing a complete blank.

Call me crazy, but it seems like grocery stores should be the ABSOLUTE LAST places to go out of business, because humans have that pesky habit of needing to eat food ALL THE TIME. Sadly, that is not the case. My local grocery store is closing down, because only a few miles away (a nice short DRIVE) there is "town" which consists solely of ...

24x7 is now available!

My proof copy of 24x7 arrived today and it looks good! Some of the full-bleed trimming is a bit off in places, but I've always had that problem with these Lulu.com books... I guess it's one of the areas of print-on-demand they're still working on.

Anyway, all the pages are in there, in the right order, and the printing is nice and crisp, so it's now available over at Lulu.com! I also added links over in the comics section so people can more easily see which 24-Hour Comics are in the...

24-hour comic #10!

Yesterday I drew my TENTH 24-hour comic. I have been drawing one a year since 2001 (most of which can be read online, over in the comics section) so I was pretty excited to celebrate the first DECADE of my commitment to draw one a year for the rest of my life.

So instead of just doing another 24-hour comic, I thought I'd take on a slightly LARGER 24-hour project... an entire book!

I decided to create a Lulu.com collection of some of my best 24 hour comics from over the last 10 years....

Phase 7 #015!!!

BLAM!!! The next issue of Phase 7 is now available! Don't get TOO excited, it's not the next chapter of Basewood (I'm still working on that, which should be out this fall). No, this issue is made up of Sketchbook material from 1995-2004, which provides glimpses of my life in high school, college, Seattle, Los Angeles, Sydney and Portland.

If you want a sneak peak, you can read my two page introduction to the issue, plus the first two sketchbooks worth of material over in the comics...
