Let’s Talk About Trust
When I was first looking into independent publishing, one of the phrases I kept stumbling across on blogs and in articles was “author brand”. It’s not really a weird phrase, since your writing becomes a commodity when you publish, but it always left me with a bad taste in my mouth. 2014 in Review
So. We’ve come to the end of 2014. That’s probably a bigger deal for some people more so than others, but personally, I always like to look back on the year and see what I’ve done. I often realize that certain goals were not met, but I think that it’s also important to remember what you did achieve. That’s helped me mentally, and it helps me ground myself for the new year.
It also helps me survive the amazing amount of hype that surrounds a new year.

Sometimes, characters have a life of their own…
I’m trucking away on book 2 of The Star Hunters trilogy. It’s going pretty well, though I did hit a few snags here and there, most recently due to confusing myself with timeline issues. Solved that by getting wild and crazy with a bunch of post-it notes and some wall space. And honestly, after using 8 different colors for different character timelines and a 9th color for random thoughts and detail ideas, I don’t feel too bad about getting stuck whereI did. There was a lot of crap going down!

Top 10 Hero Songs
Top 10 lists seem to be my thing to go to when I’m not quite sure what to write about over here. But hey, they can be fun, and sometimes it’s moderately enjoyable to sit down and think about an arbitrary list of items for no other reason than to express an opinion. Giveaway Done! And… so are my ratings?
The Goodreads Giveaway came to a close on the 18th, and I just put the winners’ copies in the mail. It’s a weirdly detached way to close out the giveaway. Close to 900 people entered on Goodreads, about halfof which marked the book To-Read. I have no idea how many of those people are actually going to go on to read it, but I figure that’s a pretty decent statistic, and I hope that some pick up a copy at some point in the future. I’d love to see some more ratings from readers!

I had the dreaded Writer’s Block.
It got to the point where it actually felt mentally crippling.
I’ve had Writer’s Block before, as every other writer has, and I know that ever other type of creative out there has experienced their own kinds of blocks. Sometimes it comes on because it’s just one of those days where nothing comes out right and you need to step back before you can move forward.
