“Unbroken Light” Kickstarter September 16, 2015!!

The Kickstarter forUnbroken Light is officially going up on September 16, 2015. I’ll definitely be making announcements when it goes live, but mark your calendars so you don’t miss the launch!

I’m working on perfecting the pattern for the more realistic arkins, though they’re still a bit cartoony because I like them like that. Makes them cuter and plushier. I’m getting close to the final version, but it’ll take a few more days. In the meantime,I have all of the planetary posters + a “limited...

Novel Sample: “Unbroken Light” – Chapter 1 & Chapter 4

Chapter 1: Dawn

Sunlight sliced the clouds, cutting clean, unbroken paths through the sky. The light slammed across the surface of the planet, carving out the landscape. The darkness retreated before the dawn, shadows fleeing and scattering a million different ways before the light could wash them out. There were some shards of the night that were not quick enough, and the trees snared them, holding fast. These bits and pieces of darkness sat huddled on the ground, clinging to each other as t...

Today is the day that I finally get to unveil the cover of my second novel,Unbroken Light. And I’m mostly just going to let it speak for itself:

Kindle Cover

I’m thrilled to have Adam Burn’s art for the cover once again, and am more excited than ever for the official release in November, and the soft opening that’s happening via Kickstarter on September 16!! Follow my WordPress blog or my Twitter account for updates on that!

Novel Sample: “Chasing Shadows” – Prologue & Chapter 1

Prologue: Hunt

The leaves rustled softly as Lissa shifted. The roughness of the tree bark pushed through her clothes and the cold night air bit down to her skin, but boredom gnawed at her more than anything else.

Waiting is the worst part.

She pulled her enerpulse pistol out of its holster and examined the weapon. The metal was sleek and dark, not a single mar nicked into the clean surfaces. No chances of a misfire. Lissa pressed the pistol between her knees and cupped her hand over the ener...

Kickstarter in Mid-September (?) for “Unbroken Light”

I’m definitely making a Kickstarter happen forUnbroken Light. I’m planning on making this more of a soft opening for the book rather than a push for needed funds to complete the project, though. I’m going to offer Star Huntersmerchandise that I couldn’t otherwise offer, however, and will definitely need backer support to make those things happen.

I’ve backed Kickstarters before, but this will be my first time running one. I’ve been doing a lot of research in addition to getting rewards togeth...

Great Tumblr Writing Blogs to Follow

I haunt Tumblr. Mostly for the entertaining content my dashboard presents to me (and I mean things that are genuinely intended to be funny along with a bunch of glorious images shared by artists so skilled it’s actually painful), but there are also a few writing blogs that I follow. These range from blogs giving general tips to ones that specialize in particular areas. And because I’m in a sharing mood, here are five of my favorites:

The Writing Cafe – One of the general tip blogs, The Writi...

Book 2 FINALLY has a title…

… now it just needs a cover. More on that in a moment.

But, finally, after turning over phrases and throwing words away, ripping up ideas and mashing them back together, I’ve settled on “Unbroken Light” as the title for my second novel.

I feel your pain, stock “Frustrated Writer” photo lady.

It’s funny to me how two words took so much time and energy to be put together. Sometimes, that’s how it has to happen. I’ve had creative projects that had titles set in stone from day 1, and I was totall...

Star Hunters Merchandise: Planet Explorations

Something I’ve been having a lot of fun with the past couple of days is creating “promotional posters” for the planets that appear in my science fiction novel, Chasing Shadows. I’ve been keeping these simple, but I’m pretty pleased with the results overall, and they’ve been a fun way to introduce people to the worlds that appear in the novel outside of showing them the text itself. I also decided to make these available for purchase as art prints, posters, and a bunch of other stuff through S...

Titles… Titles Everywhere!

I think it’s safe to say that one of my least favorite parts of writing is coming up with a title. Sometimes, they come immediately, and they are perfect, and they say exactly what they need to about the story, and they pack just the rightamount of punch.

That’s about 0.000000001% of the time.

The rest of the time, it’s me wrestling with words as I slog through my brain, trying to pull that perfect title out and wrestle it into submission. It’s never an easy battle.

I recently went through t...

Jurassic World Movie High (Spoilers Abound)

So up until this point, this WordPress blog has been vaguely professional, kinda bland, and mostly about writing and fiction.

Today, Imma ditch all that and talk about dinosaurs.

***********Movie Spoilers Ahoy!!!**********

I literally just got back from watching Jurassic World about five minutes ago. This movie and Mad Max: Fury Road are the only movies I’ve seen this year that have left me energized after leaving the theater, though Mad Max left me a bit emotionally drained since I was rivet...
