I was absolutely surprised by this book! I knew it had some enigmatic mystery and some dark action, but the author set up the story so well I was happily amazed. It starts with a very engaging character, a young woman who is very well portrayed in a community, Oasis, Florida. The town's mysteries are maze-like and become deeper and more sinister as the book progresses. This is a very original approach to the concept of vampires and their existence.

Jennifer Lynn Powell Reynolds is a native of North Alabama. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree from National University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Alabama.

Writing has always been a large part of her life. She has worked on a number of different projects throughout her life, but her focus had mainly been on her education. Now that that part of her life is over, she is focusing on her writing career and loving every moment of it.

Aside from spending her days immersed in the fictional worlds she creates, she loves to scrapbook and create stained glass pieces.

#WIP It Up Wednesday #Excerpt from #SayingGoodbye

Welcome back to WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. One week I wasn’t able to access the link, so I missed that week. When I couldn't log in, I rescheduled my post for the next week. Unfortunately, I didn’t remember to add the link to the blog page when it became available, causing me to miss the next week. After that, I’ve been swamped. Resistant came out on the 26th. We had an amazing release party. Lots of zombie themed fun. Last week, the husband and I went to see the Foo Fighters. You need to see them in concert. This past weekend, I was at the Rocket City Lit Fest in Huntsville, AL. I had a great weekend. Anyway, enough about all of that. On to today’s post.

Today I’ll be sharing excerpts from my upcoming novella, Saying Goodbye. Right now, this novella is hung up in editing. I may wait until January to release it, as I’ve heard that new releases in November and December don’t do well. My editor has been a bit busy, so she hasn’t had a chance to work on the novella as much as she would like. I don’t have a synopsis for the novel yet (because I’m lazy), but in a nutshell this novel is a paranormal love story/love triangle about a ghost who is trying to find a way to stay on earth to be with the love of his life. In doing so, he introduces her to a man that she might start having feelings for.The following snippet comes right after the last snippet I posted. They are at the party and bantering with one of Michael’s friends. When sober, Michael was more of a leader than a follower, but when drunk, he thought every one of his friend’s ignorant ideas was the greatest thing ever. My that point, they hadn’t done anything to kill anyone or land one of them in jail, but they’d had a few injuries and gotten stuck in some awkward situations.“I do not.”Erica opened her mouth to remind him of one the dumbass things he had done, but Kevin returned with a six-pack of beer under one arm and a plate piled high with pizza in the other hand.“No sodas,” he lied, pulling a can from the pack he had sat on the coffee table in front of them and plopping down onto the sofa.“You’re so full of shit,” Erica said, grabbing a beer. Although, as she thought about it, she realized that he might not be. Leave it to a group of barely legal boys to buy a bunch of beer and not at all think about getting anything else to drink. If all else fails, she would drink water from the tap, she decided.“Bite me,” Kevin said, then really looked at their costumes. “Nice,” he said, eyeing her from head to toe. The word came out in one long, drawn out suggestive sound. Turning to Michael, he said, “Your idea?”Michael nodded, and Erica rolled her eyes.“Role playing. I like it. You going to let him hook you later?” Kevin asked her.“Get bent,” she said and glared at her boyfriend as if his friend’s words were his fault. In a way, they were because he didn’t hit him or try to shut him up in any way.Michael merely winked at Kevin, then the two high-fived each other.“He definitely isn’t now,” she said. The words were low and more to herself, but Michael heard her.“Awe, baby, I’m sorry,” he said, putting an arm around her and kissing her forehead.“The kiss changes nothing,” she said, smiling to herself. ---That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.---
