Welcome back to WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. Also on that page, you will find links to other wonderful authors and their WIP.Today I’ll be sharing excerpts from my upcoming novella, Saying Goodbye. Right now, this novella is still hung up in editing. My editor for this novel has been a bit busy, so she hasn’t had a chance to work on the novella as much as she would like. I still don’t have a synopsis and probably won’t write one until it gets back from editing. I’m going to stay with Saying Goodbye for a few more weeks, but then I’ll be switching gears again moving on to Outcast, a paranormal romance that I just sent off to my editor and that I’m hoping will go on sale early next year.The following snippet comes right after the last snippet I posted. They are at the party and bantering with one of Michael’s friends.  ---Erica woke the next morning at seven—a half an hour later than she would have liked. She showered quickly and left the house with wet hair. Her outfit was up to par, but she hadn’t put on any makeup, couple that with the wet hair and she looked awful. Stacy wouldn’t be happy about the way she looked if she saw her. Luckily for Erica, Stacy rarely worked on Saturdays. Katie, one of the other window tellers, usually brought doughnuts, so she would at least have breakfast. She rushed into work at five minutes to eight. No one paid much attention to her, as she entered the breakroom praying there would be coffee and doughnuts.“Hard night?” Katie asked. She peaked around the corner to make sure that no one was at the drive-thru, waiting. Erica took a moment to breathe and take a bite of the plain doughnut Katie handed her before answering.“Not really, Michael flaked on me. I spent most of the night wandering around drunk people looking for him, then spent the rest of the night lying in bed worrying about him. I can’t wait for this shift to be over so I can go check on him,” she said around bites of the doughy goodness.“I’m sorry he bailed. Men aren’t very bright sometimes. I wouldn’t worry too much, though. He has a level head. I doubt he got into anything dire.” She grabbed herself a doughnut and took a bite.“I hope not. Do I look bad? I overslept and didn’t have time to finish getting ready. I would have skipped the shower, but I still smelled like cigarette smoke, and I didn’t want to come here reeking.” Fearing that she might smell, Erica sniffed her drying hair.“Kind of. Here, before we get busy, put on some makeup and run a brush through your hair again,” Katie said, handing Erica her make-up bag.“You’re a life-saver.”Erica barely had time to pull her hair back, a thing she hated doing when her hair was wet because it made her hair flat, and put on some foundation when their first car of the day came through. Giving herself a once over in the mirror, she decided she looked good enough for an early morning after Halloween. Katie and Erica rushed to take their spots, hoping the driver hadn’t had to wait too long.At nine, Stacey walked through the front doors looking worried.“Crap,” Erica whispered to Katie as she tried to make herself as inconspicuous as possible. She just knew someone had reported her appearance and tardiness, and Stacy was pissed. Erica’s parents would not be pleased if her boss fired her because she was out late at a party.“What?” Katie asked and turned to look toward Stacy’s office. “What’re your parents doing here?”“My parents?” Erica jerked up right in her seat, turned, and followed Katie’s line of sight to see that indeed, her parents had followed Stacy into the bank. Confused by their appearance, Erica stood up and said, “I don’t know.” ---That’s it for today.
