Snippet Sunday and #8sunday - 11-23-14 from SHIFTER (RO/PA)

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my eleventh Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my third Snippet Sunday post.

Today’s excerpt comes from chapter eleven of my supernatural romance, Shifter. In this scene, Abby is getting ready for her date with Dimitri, and her friends and sister have taken it upon themselves to help get her ready. ;)

I know I’m acting a bit too hesitant about doing all of this, considering it is just one date with a man I know is only being kind to me. I do want to be beautiful for him, but if I had a choice, I wouldn’t have gone this far with the makeover. My sister and friends are more excited about the date than I am.

“Why are you being so reluctant?” my sister demands as she tries to convince me to wear a thong under my dress.

“I’m not being reluctant. I have done everything you people have wanted me to do all day. I’m not wearing the thong because I don’t plan on sleeping with him.”

“Oh, why not?” Carrie asks.

Want to know is she ends up wearing the thong and/or sleeping with Dimitri? Download your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play. To find out more about this novel or me, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.

Stop by next weekend to read another snippet from this novel or stop by Weekend Writing Warriors to read excerpts from others or join in the fun. To check out Snippet Sunday posts and/or join that blog hop as well, see their Facebook page.

Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors - 11-16-14 #8sunday from SHIFTER

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my tenth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my second Snippet Sunday post.

Today’s excerpt comes from chapter ten of my supernatural romance, Shifter. In this scene, Abby has just returned home from taking Devan through her neighborhood looking for Dimitri.

“Yeah, I heard it all,” I say as I look up into her glowing face with bit of jealousy. She is a good woman, and my brother deserves a good woman, but why does he get to have this woman.
From the moment they walked out the door to the moment I heard them walking back up the steps, I have paced the living room floor waiting, wondering what could be taking them so long. My heart had warmed at the thought of her caring enough about me to help my brother search for me. In truth, I know that I’m not why she is helping him. She doesn’t know me from Adam. Devan is the one she is worried about. Devan is the one she is helping, and Devan is the one taking her out to dinner tomorrow night.

Want to know which brother she chooses? Download your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play. To find out more about this novel or me, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.

Stop by next weekend to read another snippet from this novel or stop by Weekend Writing Warriors to read excerpts from others or join in the fun. To check out Snippet Sunday posts and/or join that blog hop as well, see their Facebook page.

WIP Update - 11-15-14

Sorry. This was supposed to go live yesterday, but I got lazy and behind. Here is peek at some of what I've been working this week.

Monday - 11-10-14 Ghost Story

I have finished the latest round of edits for HIM and have sent the novel back to my editor. Man that novel is a roller-coaster of emotions. I'm glad to get back to the ghost story, but those character are also having an emotional time right now. Here is a peak at what I worked on today: “First, I want to tell you how much I love you. I love you with every ounce of who I am. You are the only perso...n I have loved in a non-familial way. From the first day we met, I wanted you to be mine. At the time I hadn’t know what all that would entail, I just knew you were mine to love, to protect, to spend every moment of my life with. As were grew older those emotions morphed into wanting to make love to you, to wanting to marry you, to have children with you, to grow old with you."

Monday 11-10-14 HIM

Chapter 1 is now on Goodreads. Do to the content in this novel I will not be putting chapters on this FB page. You will have to create a Goodreads account to read this chapter. https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

Wednesday 11-12-14 Ghost Story

Finished chapter 26 and started chapter 27 of the ghost story. I'm crying, but I understand why my character has to do what he is doing. Here is a snippet from what I worked on today:
"He felt his hold on Ian’s body loosening, and before he let go of the man forever, he said into Ian’s head, 'Take care of her for me. Love her the way she needs to be loved.'"

Thursday 11-13-14 Ghost Story

Chapter 27 done and chapter 28 started. Man, I'm on a roll. Surely I can finish the first draft of this by the end of the month. Yeah, I know I said that last month. LOL!!! Here is a peak at what I worked on today:
“Erica, I have something I want to talk to you about.”
“And that something is?”
“Michael.”
I caught her cup before it hit her lap.

Meet My Character Monday Blog Tour #MMCMBH: Meet the Alisa from IN THE DARK

Welcome back to my Meet My Character Monday Blog Hop post. Today I’m introducing Alisa, the main character of my new FREE short story, In the Dark.

Alisa is a fictional character living in the fictional town of Woodsville in New England. She is a writer and a newbie to town, meaning she is all anyone can talk about.

Although there isn’t anything special about her, “Alisa had been the topic of every secret conversation for months when she first moved here because she just showed up one day and bought a house. She was a single woman with no children and no reason for settling in their town, and they did not like her sudden appearance. Even the realtor was hesitant about selling her the house she now owns. Alisa is convinced that the woman ran every possible background check she could on Alisa, trying to find an excuse not to sell her the house before letting her sign the papers….They did not “think it right” for a single woman pushing thirty to lock herself up day and night in a dark, tiny house on a nearly deserted little lane. Since she is a writer, her home is her life.”

She likes being a woman of mystery, and her main goal in this novel is to live through the night.

To find out more about this vampire, download your copy of In the Dark, free at Smashwords or Barnes and Noble or read it at Goodreads.

If you would like to join this hop, visit Meet My Character's website, read the rules, and sign up via the linky link. We look forward to having you.

Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors - 11-9-14 #8sunday from SHIFTER

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my ninth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday and my first Snippet Sunday post.
Today’s excerpt comes from chapter nine of my supernatural romance, Shifter. Here is another early encounter between Abby and Devan. ***Side note: I have slightly altered the first line of this scene to meet WWW guidelines.***
“You don’t know how lovely you are,” he says, reaching up to tuck a bit of hair behind my ear. I step away as soon as the hair is in place, not giving him a chance to let his fingers linger anywhere.
“Sorry,” I say at his hurt look. “I’m all sweaty. I just finished working out, and figured I should do a little housework before I bathed, then I remember I hadn’t checked my box in over a week, and…”
His eyes look me up and down. The heated look in them makes my body flush an even darker red than it already is.
“Are you still searching for your brother?”
Want to know which brother she chooses? Download your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play. To find out more about me or this novel, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.

Weekend Writing Warriors - 10-26-14 #8sunday from SHIFTER

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my sixth Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday Snippet post.

Today’s excerpt comes from chapter six of my supernatural romance, Shifter. Here we see Dimitri gradually figuring out that he has feelings for Abby after realizing that she is the only person he likes touching him while he is a cat. (Warning. This section is slightly altered from the way it appears in the novel in order to adhere to WWW guidelines.)

Abby on the other hand, makes me feel calm when she touches me, makes me feel as if this entire messed up situation is going to be just fine. I don’t know how she does it or what it is about her that calms me, but she does.

If I was human, I probably wouldn’t have given her much thought. I know that is sad, but it’s true. I’m not saying she isn’t pretty; she is lovely, and she isn’t all that overweight. I actually like women with curves. I like them soft and smooth.

Okay, I gotta shift directions.

Want to know if Abby loves him back? Grab your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play today to download your copy. To find out more about me or this novel, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.***Special Note: This novel will be on sale for 99cents this week (Sunday 10-26-14 through 11-1-14).***

WIP 10-24-14

10-11-14 I'm starting the weekend out right by working on Outcast. Leigh, she is the main character of this novel (Yes, Leigh she has your name. I'm not sure who she looks like, yet. I'm only starting to see her personality.), is showing how strong and defiant she really is, which is a relief, considering how insecure and emotional Abby was in the beginning.
Here is a look at the chapter I worked on today: "When I think of my situation that way, I realize how much they do love me and how awful they must feel having to divide their loyalties the way they are."

------------------------------------

Due to a tornado passing over my home, I had to skip last weeks' post, The above section was all I managed to work on last week. I did manage to get a good deal writing done this week. The following are excerpts from what I did this week...

10-19-14 So with the storm, my power being out for a few days, then no internet, and my laptop needing an operation yesterday to keep it alive, I decided today was a great day to get back in the writing mode. I really want to tell you that I wrote thousands of words, finished the ghost story, and got half-way through the first draft of the next ALONE novel, but I can't. Mostly what I've down is reread the last chapter I wrote, stare at the screen, look over my notes, stare at the screen some more, type a line, stare at the screen. I'm giving up for today. Here is a line from the page I did manage to get out: As she relaxed into her thoughts and the boring movie, Michael did something he had never done before; he slipped into her head. He wanted to know exactly how she felt about all of this before he did anything else.

10-20-14 This chapter is still not wanting to come out easily, but I'm still going with the new ending, so maybe I won't have many more chapters after this one to fight with.
Here is a little something from chapter 25: He couldn’t watch her be with anyone else, that much he knew for sure.

10-20-14 OUTCAST -- I love it when I give a character two names. I was reading through Outcast, trying to figure out where I left off, and noticed that I've named one of Leigh's little sister's Tabitha and Maddie. So which name should I go with? Both seem to fit the little brat. I guess, for now, I'll go with Maddie. What do you guys think? Which works better for a young girl who is petite, spoiled, and raised within a pack that that thinks they are superior to humans: Tabitha or Maddie?

Here is a sample of what I worked on today: I kept Daniele in my line of sight as she made her way to the front of the chapel, ignoring all the glares I felt boring into me. I didn’t even acknowledge Maddie’s smug look when Daniele stepped in front of her. I did feel the heated gaze of one of Dave’s groomsmen; the one who escorted me to my seat.

10-20-14 ALONE -- My muse seems to be on vacation this week. I've failed to write more than a few sentences on any one project for days. Today was no different. I did managed a few sentences on the next chapter but nothing more.

Here is a sample of what I did manage to write: Vera wrapped her best friend in her arms and held her while she cried and begged God to let her husband live.

10-23-14 I'm not sure what is wrong with me this week, but on two different occasion when I sat down to do some serious writing, my nose decided to bleed profusely...as if I didn't have enough distractions and delays these days. Anyway, after that stopped, I finally finished the chapter that has been giving me grief. I learned a lot about my version of heaven today, so that was a plus.
Here is a little peek at what I wrote today:
“I want your permission to use your body to break the news. I think it would be easier coming from someone, in a sense, she knows, and sense you are aware of me, I didn’t feel right just taking you over.”

10-24-14 Outcast - So I started working on Outcast today. Just as I was getting in the groove, my brain switched thoughts to a friend's housewarming party, which isn't until December, and derailed my entire train of thought. For some reason, the thought occurred to me that I'm sitting in a Stained Glass Studio and I could do something way cooler than a toaster for a gift. Now my brain if full of a different from of creative ideas. LOL! Oh well, at least I managed to get some writing done.
Here is a line from the section I wrote today:
"The humiliation started the second I got of the taxi, which had pulled up behind mom and dad’s town car."

10-24-14 - ALONE II - Spent most of my time doing research for chapter 1 instead of actually working on the chapter and reminding myself that we are now a few years into the apocalypse and things have started to expire. Trying to stay true to that world is hard when I'm surrounded my to many conveniences.
I did manage to get a little writing done. Here is a line from what I worked on today:
“Here, honey, take this,” Vera said, handing Eve one green and white pill and a glass of water.

Weekend Writing Warriors - 10-12-14 #8sunday from SHIFTER

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by my first Weekend Writing Warriors’ Sunday Snippet post.

Today’s excerpt comes from chapter four of my supernatural romance, Shifter. In this scene, Dimitri, a grown man cursed into the form of a small kitten, is trying to acclimate to his new life while at the same time trying to find a way to break the curse get back to his pack.

My escape attempts have been futile. That first night I tried to sneak out the door when her sister arrived with her kids, but the oldest boy grabbed me. I got stuck in her basement once, after sneaking down there when she left the door open, thinking it would have a way out. There wasn’t an exit. I had to meow at the door for an hour before she came looking for me.

She laughed at the sight of me, then said, “I bet you won’t go down there again, will you?”

The situation wasn’t at all funny.

I haven’t resigned myself to this place, but for now, I’ll have to make do.

Want to know from where Dimitri is trying to escape? Grab your copy of Shifter today at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play today to download your copy. To find out more about me or this novel, peruse this cite or visit me on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Twitter.
