Shifter Giveaway
SHIFTER goes on sale on at the end of this month. That means we need to get the word out to more people about this novel. My goal is to get SHIFTER’S Facebook page up to a 100 likes by the end of the month and to get the novel on people’s “to-read” list on Goodreads. If we meet this small goal, I’ll give one person an ecopy of Alone and an ecopy of SHIFTER.
The rules are simple.
1. Like SHIFTER’S page. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
2. Add SHIFTER to your “to-read” list on Goodreads. Goodreads is a free and wonderful social network for people who love to read.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
3. Share this page with others.
4. Once you’ve done this, go to SHIFTERS’S page and let me know, so that I can add your name to the drawing.
It is that simple.
Because I’m having a great day, I’ll also do this: If you surprise me and get the page up to 150 likes, I’ll give 2 people an ecopy of Alone and an ecopy of SHIFTER . More importantly, if you want to make my month and get the page up to 200 likes, I’ll give 3 people ecopies of both novels.

"Where did the idea for ALONE come from?"
Here is a question that came up yesterday at my book signing that I would like to expound on this morning.
"Where did the idea for ALONE come from?"
ALONE began shortly after 9-11. Just as most of you probably were, for a few years after 9-11 I was scared, always wondering what was going to happen next. I kept having these end of the world, world war dreams, nothing that I remembered the next morning, but dreams that would wake me and keep me on edge. Well, at some point, an image--I can't remember now if it was one from one of those dreams or just something that popped into my head at random, as things tend to do when you have an over active imagination and a love for post-apocalyptic novels and movies--formed in my head and stayed with me.
The image was one of a young woman standing in the middle of the street, holding a child that I knew wasn't her own, and looking around at an empty world. This image stayed with for a long time. Every time I would think about it, I would wonder what happened to her, whose child is she holding, where everyone is. From these ponderings the beginnings of a story started to form. At that time, I hadn't written much since I graduated high school back in 1998, and wasn't sure if ever would pick the craft back up. This meant that the story only existed in my head.
The defining moment in ALONE'S history came when my best friend, Candace Forbs, and I were driving home from another friend's, Leigh Harris, wedding. The drive from Auburn, AL to our home town is about three or four hours. On this drive, out of nowhere, Candace asked if I was currently working on anything. I said, "You know, I have been mulling over this one idea," so for the next hour or so, I told her my idea for ALONE. When I finished, she turned to me and said, "You have to write that." She this with so much enthusiasm that I had to write the story for her.
That week, I hand wrote a seventy page outline of the novel for her. She loved it and all but ordered me to write more. In the years that followed the novel grew and shrank as I created Eve's world, with Candace telling me which chapters she liked, which she didn't, and with her encouraging me when I just didn't think I was going to finish. Finally, when I had a draft we both loved, she said, "Now you have to publish it."
And that is how ALONE came into this world.
