Esme Taylor gets engaged. The first person she tells is her life long best friend Hunter. Hunter wants to meet this guy and when he does it does not go over well. Esme’s fiance thinks Hunter is in love with her. Jon wants Hunter out of the picture. Esme thinks he is paranoid little does she know that Jon is right. Hunter has been in love with Esme for forever. Torn between sharing his feelings and ruining Esme’s ever after Hunter finds himself in quite the conflict.
In an Oyster Shell – It was a well-composed narrative that was beautifully romantic.
The Pearls – It was a lovely romance with a lot of conflict to make me want to keep turning the pages. It was a delicious tension between Esme’s fiance and her best friend Hunter. Hunter did all he could to endure while nursing his broken heart that he may have lost Esme forever.
The story had a lot of depth. There was fullness from the different elements of the story. Esme’s job was interesting and made for a good storyline. Hunter’s life as a firefighter added another element to the story. There were a lot of interesting aspects.
The characters were well-defined and distinctive. My favorite character was Hunter. He was strong and determined. He was a complex character with a lot of redeeming qualities. I liked that the author gave him some learning disabilities it made him more interesting having him work through that conflict.
The Sand – Esme was a selfish naive character that hindered the story at times.

In an Oyster Shell – A most excellent and satisfying Regency romance.
The Pearls – Right from the beginning Theodora becomes a character that is vulnerable yet has spunk and you become excited to follow her through her story. The concept of her impeccable archery skills just by applying simple physics and mathematics is genius. At that time women are not known for their sharp mind, it is even discouraged. Having Theodora as an astute academically minded female makes for a great story.
The characters make this book the delectable read that it is. Theodora is more quiet and demure while her friend Adeline is outspoken, rash and determined. Adeline pushes Theodora into circumstances that she would rather avoid. It is pinnacle to the whole story. It also helps that her brother gets involved concerned for Adeline to avoid scandal so she can marry well. This puts Theodora and Alastair together more which becomes the romance of the story.
The romance is sweet and elegant with a touch of scandal which makes it more interesting. Alastair comes to Theodora time and again to find his sister Adeline who keeps disappearing. It is improper for a gentleman to be in the presence of a lady without being properly introduced to her guardian. Alastair takes the risk again and again to save his sister but ends up developing feelings for Theodora as well. It was everything a regency romance should be.
The Sand – It was a well-written story.

In an Oyster Shell – A really endearing read that is very poetic in its entirety.
The Pearls – The action in this book starts right away which engrosses the reader immediately. The book is constant forward motion which keeps the reader engaged.
The romance was the star of this story. It was very romantic and fun. It was creative and inviting. It didn’t hurt that most of the book takes place in Bora Bora which makes for an intriguing setting for the romance.
The ending of this story was epic. It was a very satisfying conclusion. It was ironic what happens and really cute.
The Sand – A good book.

The Pearls – The opening of the book had me intruiged. A detective with a hard past. She finds herself along the way of investigating the disappearance of Jenny Dielman. Weaving personal and professional life she does her best to find the truth. The adventure of following her was an intense ride.
The mystery was really good. It kept you guessing and in the end there were multiple guilty parties. The author is really good at writing mystery. I can’t wait to read her other books.
There were a lot of characters involved. It was easy to keep up with them all. The author’s characters were defined and distinctive. It was definitely a character driven narrative.
The Sand – There was a little bit of head hopping it was hard to know sometimes who’s perspective the reader was in.

The Pearls – The setting is ideal. It is a farm that holds vintage treasures and a wishing bridge. Having the story revolve around this farm makes for a treasured read. I can’t wait for there to be more books in the series.
The characters were compelling. The main character was easy to follow and really comes into herself. The most interesting thing about this book is the supporting characters. The author lets us know about the supporting characters, which builds intrigue for further books.
The romance was clean and beautiful. It was really cozy. The conclusion is very satisfying.

It’s been a month of Sundays since I’ve done the Sunday post. Like what I did there. Ha ha! Like most of you, I got caught in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I didn’t realize how busy I’ve been until I woke up Tuesday and felt relief that all the planning and errands were done. It’s the first time I feel like I could catch my breath! Now I am catching up on blog stuff.

Friday Coffee and Bookish Speaks – Favorite Genres
Hi everbody! it’s been a long time. I took a long break from discussions over the holidays. They were super busy I finally have time to catch my breath and catch up.
I am indulging in a honey latte today for something different. What are you drinking?
I wanted to talk today about my favorite genres. I try and branch out sometimes but I find myself really at home with chick-lit and cozy mysteries. I like humor and feel-good stories. These genres offer that in abundance. I’ve been especially reading a lot of cozies due to the Mystery Thriller Week that is coming up in February.
I stretch myself by cross reading genres like science fiction and thrillers. I find that I can do those genre in small doses. If I have a lot of those I take on extra reading for the genres that I love.
As I have come into myself lately adhering myself to my favorite genres, I can’t help but wonder what does my genres say about me? I think there are preferences highlight our personalities.
I think these genres are telling to my fun loving quirky side. I think that’s one of the main reasons I love cozies. They are quirky in nature. I thank the chick-lit shows my romantic fun side. I really enjoy them! I’ve told you about my favorite what are your favorite genres? What do you think they say about you?

Strange abilities start manifesting like a heightened awareness of danger, being able to read and manipulate people’s thoughts, being able to mentally transport to another dimension. His abilities come to be helpful when he foresees his dad getting in a car accident. He wasn’t able to prevent it yet his dad seems to survive though he is very different. He comes to find that his family is connected to an extraterrestrial race. His dad as been taken over by one of these beings. His goal is to help the world to prevent world destruction due to environmental issues. Aaden teams with the race to help the world be safe. There are dark powers at play. It’s a race against time to save humanity.
In an Oyster Shell – Aaden Bluestar is an imaginative, extremely creative story.
The Pearls – There are a few elements at play that work harmoniously together to make for a fun read. The author intertwined one human boy with an extraterrestrial race, it added a pleasant complexity.
Action starts right away to immediately engage the reader. The author shows a great knowledge of ecological issues. It seemed like there was a veiled message of the mess that the environment is in. That added a nice depth to the book.
The Sand – The transition of scenes from one perspective to the next got a little muddled. This added a little confusion for the reader. The ending was not satisfying. There is hope that there will be resolution in later books as this is a series.
Overall this book entertaining and informative.
