It is always interesting to read a book about smart young woman. This book is great example of young women who have interests outside of the usual ones appropriate for young ladies and yet, they don’t let people’s opinions deter them. It is always wonderful to see a hero who not only accepts a woman’s brilliance but who encourages it and is proud of her for it.
Lady Theodora (Theo) Montgomery wasn’t necessarily a trouble-maker but she certainly was a free spirited blue stocking – a young woman w

Theodora by Christina McKnight
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
EEEP!! I love being introduced to new words and new series. This series is going to be a fun one for sure. The series is about 4 Sister from Another Misters who meet at boarding school. We learn all about the bonds of sisterhood while in board

Lady Theo made three very good friends when she attended a school to teach her everything a lady should know for polite society. They all loved archery, and Theo excelled at it. Now all of them are to have their first season; therefore, scandal is to be avoided at all costs.

The school that they love is in dire need of money for extensive repairs. They come up with a plan to get the needed money by using their archery skills and competing in an archery tournament. Will their plan lead to their o

A unique page turner! I am absolutely in love with the lady archers creed series. The story of lady Theo starts at her new school and brings the reader right into a new world of a young lady's experience of presenting talents in front of all the other ladies so they may be roomed with others similar to them.
Theo is a very intelligent, independent, and talented young lady who is set on waiting for marriage and duty. Theo calls on her former roommate and close friend Adeline and meets her brother

Positivity. Such a big word, with a simple meaning that means so much. I am drawn to strong heroines. So many times, women are looked at as in need of a rescuer but Ms. McKnight has spotlighted the opposite with her Lady Archer's Creed series. Strength of character breeds strong friendships, fearless women and great storytelling. I can go on all day about Theodora and her band of courageous compadres but the greatest message of all within the pages of this novel is: There is no one mold for a pe ...more

What a ridiculous protracted story featuring some laughable caricatures of historical fictional people.

When it started the audiobook was so monotone and droll that I thought it was down to the narrator, but it was super hard to get into the story even when I tried to get past the narrators monotone. So after trying for a while ended up having to take a break from something that was going nowhere. Now when I got back to the story nothing is still happening. I don’t know where is all this action

An entertaining read... Book One of the Lady Archer’s Creed series starts out in a most unusual way that will entertain the reader. This book involves four intelligent girls who meet at the School of Education and Decorum for Ladies of Outstanding Quality and become fast friends. I must admit this is the most unusual plot I have read in a while and it took me a moment to be fully present and enjoy the authors unique writing style.

Theo makes a great heroine and that she constantly uses her intel

Although this is the first Christina McKnight book I have read, I have several in my TBR pile. I have read some Amanda Mariel (Christina's writing partner for this series) offerings and enjoyed them. Set in the Regency period, the storyline takes a different approach to the boy meets girl and they fall in love theme. Alistair Price is rather overbearing, however he is responsible for his eight brothers and sisters since their parents are unable to join them in London. His main attention is on Ad ...more

Lady Theodora has two passions in her life, archery, a sport she enjoys with her three former school-friends and map making. Her brother unusually for the time, is supportive of her academic achievements, even going so far as to sponsor her in addressing gatherings at the British Museum. She has no intention of clandestinely taking part in an archery competition (regardless of the fact that the prize money would help with repairs at her beloved school) as the finals clash with her important meet ...more

Too much introspection

I liked the book cover synopsis of Theodora by Christina McKnight, so I ignored the iffy reviews and went ahead and downloaded it.

I very much liked intrepid and free-thinking Theodora, and I even kind of liked the three finishing school roommates. Sadly, as soon as Alastair made his appearance, the remainder of the book began to go slowly downhill. I use the word slow for a reason. The amount of introspection and detailed descriptions were a major factor in slowing the pro

I love historic romances. I love how Lady Theo will stick up for her friends. Lady Adeline older brother Alistair is so overprotective. Theo and Adeline met at school. They are both good at archery. Theo and Adeline enter a archery tournament to help fix up the school.

Alistair want to Lady Theo house looking for his sister. When he left Theo want to check on Adeline. Alistair followed Theo and competed against her.

I love Alistair and Theo together. I highly recommend this story.

I wasn't particularly happy with this story. I loved the idea and the synopsis, but the story didn't come off as quite right. Adeline came across as a bully from the whole story. Georgie and Josie were her followers. Theo was never really shown to fit in with them, she was more the "outsider". And yet we're to believe they're all the best of friends? I liked the actual story, there's no way Theo would be that stupid to keep taking chances with her life. ...more

Fantastic story, but.....

It became VERY difficult to read the farther I got into the book. You REALLY need a better proof-reader or type setter or something. The misspelled words or incorrect wording was so rampant in this book, as I said, it made it very difficult to read. That is the reason it only received 3 stars instead of the 5 I would have given it.

I am sick of this same plot. Smarmy man tries to force woman to marry him by threatening her friends or family. I did not finish it.

I did not finish the book. I am sick of this plot! Another smarmy supposed gentleman threatened to harm family or friends to force a woman to marry him.

What fun

To see a self determining lady with familial support. Lady Theo's brother supported her desire to attend school for learning and she made friends there. Upon finishing school they were all set to have their first season but needed to help a friend first. Her interactions with the men she met were often hilarious. Highly recommend.

Lady Theodora Montgomery has a packed schedule before the start of her first London season. She and her friends are to compete in an archery tournament to win the funds needed to restore their beloved boarding school. She is also presenting her work on cartography before a crowd at the British Museum and meeting with a famous Italian mapmaker to discuss her ideas on identifying locations of future coastal flooding. Thankfully her older brother, the earl, is supportive of women striking out on th ...more

Excellent clean historical romance. I enjoyed the banter between Theo and Alistair. The storyline is good and moves at a rate that keeps the reader interested. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
Captivating historical novel that I enjoyed more then going to sleep at a reasonable time. Feeling like this wave of inspiration and confidence is a wonderful find enjoyable read. Thanks to @BookBub for the wonderful suggestions as always.

Hire an editor.

Look, the story is OK. I mean, it’s historical romance, so the outcome is inevitable. The journey, one that should be original, is only slightly so. But the spelling and grammar is unforgivable. I’m not sure I can read any further in the series.

Regency romance with a twist

The story had some unique developments, and the characters were quite likeable. Many grammar and word choice errors made reading the book quite frustrating.

This wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. I disliked one of the characters and often thought the heroine was too naive and immature and, while the hero was overbearing, it made sense... I just didn't connect with the characters and definitely didn't feel "love". Overall sorta a cute quick read tho. ...more
