i really liked the backgrounds and scenery in king city, just wondering if any actual cities or other settings/comics particularly influenced the setting and style of the scenery when you were making it?
Yeahhh, it’s a mix of Seattle (where I grew up) NYC (where I was living when I started it) and Vancouver –where I finished drawing it– and also where I still live.
A lot of the scenes in it are based on real places. They mention the King Dome blowing up- and being rebuilt –and that’s a real building in Seattle. lots of stuff like that.
also, thanks.
Yeah wtf! Why is there no inexpensive möbius books out?
That is a good question.
I’m always pretty harsh about how Humanoids charges for everything like they’re only expecting Scrooge McDuck to want to read Moebius books.
There is the Silver Surfer he did that is the internet tells me is $7.99 –that counts for something. Although Stan Lee writing for Moebius is not my favorite (Dan O’Bannon is my favorite Moebius collaborator) It’s still an amazingly drawn comic– and the back up text by Moebius about why hand lettering is best is awesome stuff.
I suspect that until a publisher is into fronting the kind of rates that the copyright owners want we wont see the best of his work over here. Personally I like it best when he writes his own stories. (Aedena cycle!)
I keep hearing rumors of deals being made, I hope it happens but we shalll seeee.
