SFWA: In My House There Are Many Issues - File 770

Panzer says, Watch where you step. Watch where you step.
Panzer likes to follow the sci fi and fantasy news, so today he made a trip to the File 770 site. There our inquisitive kitty boy found a post about the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA) and recent problems with resignations and terminations.
The post addresses a list of "issues" within the SFWA. One of the first major "issues" discussed is the lack of transparency within the group, probably caused by NDA's. The list is actually very long, so you'll need to read the post to see what's happening.
Panzer says, "This post reads like a hot mess in my litter box."
Note: This is a quite l-o-n-g post. You will need a pitcher of lemonade or a pot of tea (depending on where you live) and a plate of cookies (biscuits) to snack on while you read this selection.

DPLA, IPG Team Up to Offer Libraries E-book Ownership Option - Publishers Weekly

They're buying the ebooks legally.
On today's trip into the Catosphere Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. With a little digging in the posts he found one about library ownership of ebooks.
According to the post by Andrew Albanese, the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)  has reached an agreement with the Independent Publishers Group (IPG) to have the option to purchase ebooks. This would mean instead of renting ebooks for patrons to read the library would own the books with no continuing fees.
Panzer says, "This would save libraries a lot of money."
Note: This is a medium length post. Bring a glass of lemonade and a sugar cookie (biscuit) for reading today's selection.

A Monday Panzerism

Panzer on alternative uses for our forest products:
Who would know?*
If a tree fell in the forest
and ...
there was no one there to hear it,
could I have it for a scratching post?
