Lissa: The vampires showed up, and right in the first scene. After the shot of the full moon and the howling wolf. Happy now?
Gary: We don't have wolves in Australia.
Lissa: That is surely the least of your objections.
Gary: Yup. The sleeping in coffins schtick is higher up. At least they had reflections.
Lissa: That's probably just because the budget was too low to CGI them out.
Gary: The bit where Count Vlad uses his vampire mind control to read Angela's mind was stupid.

My ISP is having some kind of problem and is not forwarding email from my iwriter alias to my real address. It is getting fixed, but my lack of email makes me sad. Even if a lot of it is from stupid mailing lists.

GaryView: Chances Disk 2 - episodes 'Contained' and 'What Rough Beast'
(Nb. Chances was an Australian TV series from the 90s which, in an effort to save it from terrible ratings, became high camp nudity-fests and introduced vampires and a host of other creations. Disk 2 collects 8 crazy episodes which allegedly contain vampires. Only two episodes have been viewed so far.)

My brain, she is strange
Am I the only person who saw the Age headline "New Swine Flu Powers" and thought 'What, they've discovered it's got x-ray vision and looks good in lycra??'.

Gary: I wish the retractable fangs bit was true. That would make things less awkward.
Lissa: I don't really notice them until you smile.
Gary: The guy at the DVD shop noticed them once and asked if my dentist could do it for him as well.

I have these terrible urges.
I have just seen a DVD of the second season of Chances, the high camp (and low quality) Australian series. Featuring schlocky vampires. And, I am told, perhaps too much of Jeremy Sims.
I cannot tell you how much I want to buy that thing right now.

Writing Books Is Hard.
This sequel is going well, all things considered, but sometimes it just feels like I'm throwing random sentences together and then praying for alchemy. I'm going to have to go over it ruthlessly from the beginning, when I'm done, to make sure there's an emotional narrative that fits with the adventure one, or everyone is going to think Lissa has serious behavioural disorders and disassociative periods. I mean, she sort of does, but she should only have those when I mean her to.
