Helpdesk WTF-ery
I'm having a problem with some email not showing up. I think it might be related to spam filters, either at my ISP, or with my domain which forwards email from my domain name to my ISP. I called my ISP first, who couldn't see anything wrong. They suggested I contact the folks who run the domain forwarding, since the problem has only arisen since a server failure a week or so ago which resulted in my not getting any mail at all for a day.
I called, and was told this was too complex for a mere help

I know I said I was taking a hiatus from Undead Entertainment, but...
I was in Dymocks, and wondered vaguely when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was coming out in Australia. And the nice lady led me to it on the bookshelves. And five minutes later I left with it in my bag. (After paying for it, of course!).
So. Um. When I've read the Liz Williams I'm currently loving, I'll get onto that and report back.

OH MY GOD, IT'S FINALLY FINISHED!!!
But I have reached the end. I have written, in big block capitals, THE END after the last sentence. My god, that feels good.
Now starts the work of going over it all, editing and streamline for narrative and emotional coherence. I'm not convinced that will be as much fun, but nevertheless....
YOU GUYS!!!
IT'S WRITTEN!!!!

GaryView: Across the Universe
I figured it was time for Lissa to make Gary watch a musical for a change.
LIssa: What did you think of that?
Gary: You know I don't really understand musicals.
Lissa: What's not to understand? People sing, dance, fall in love and live happily ever after.
Gary: Except in 'Cabaret'.
Lissa: They do everything except live happily ever after. Anyway, I thought you'd like this one. It's all about the sixties.
Gary: The sixties weren't like that in Australia.
Lissa: We had protests didn't we?
Gary: Later on i
Dead Set: zombie tv!
On the weekend I finally got around to watching 'Dead Set', the British six part series about zombies and the Big Brother House I ordered after it was reviewed on the Boxcutters podcast.
I don't want to be all spoilery, but I do want to say that it was creepy, frightening, involving and incredible. Very intense, and occasionally pitch-black-funny.
I think, however, it is time for me to leave the Undead entertainment alone for a while. Maybe read something about puppies and daisies.

Castlemaine: Actually, I quite liked it
Last week Tim was doing research for some travel articles he's doing for the Age, so I took Friday off and went up to join him in Castlemaine. I didn't know anything about the town except that it is on the way to Bendigo and is, so one version of the song goes, the birthplace of the Wild Colonial Boy.
I expected the usual pleasant but kind of predictable country town. What I got was a mix of rural charm, great food, artistic licence and a vibrant buzz. I also finally found those lace-up boots I w
Mangled language
Spotted in today's EG Guide, in the EG Reviews section:
"Paul Dempsey's long-muted solo album is finally finished."
The expression should have been long-mooted (and you can look up meanings for 'mooted' here) but I am amused by the idea of an album being long-muted. Has the record company been trying to suppress it?
