Good News Daily – September 17

Dear Friend,

Some people seem to breeze through life. I don’t. Never have. I am a struggler, and my struggles are daily. If it were not for the Lord Jesus Christ, I would have given up long ago. If it were not for the Lord, I wouldn’t have the love, peace, hope, joy, passion, and sense of purpose I have deep inside me today despite my struggles. If you knew how hard it is for me to do the easiest things in life, how very much of my life involves struggle and challenge, you might be amazed as I a...

The Danger of Never

I will never do this! I will never do that! This will never happen! I will never let that go! I will never go there! He will never let it go! She will never change! They will never change! I will never change my mind about this! Ever had thoughts like these? Please be careful! There can be a big danger when it comes to the word NEVER!

We are not to live our lives based on our thoughts, feelings, experiences, beliefs, circumstances, wishes, wants, and ways apart from God, but based instead on the...

People of Praise

See what the psalmist says to the Lord’s servants in the verse that follows?

“Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.” Psalms 113:1

Good and faithful servants of the Lord are to praise the Lord! Not only to praise the Lord, but to praise His name! I learned long ago that the name of the Lord includes in its significance His authority and His character. We are to praise the Lord for everything about Him!

What else does the psalmist say in this psalm?

“B...

Your Greatest Influence

Who is your greatest influence? If it is not the Lord Jesus Christ, it is time to make a change! We all have influences and influencers in our lives. Sometimes it is stuff. Ideas. Groups. Philosophies. Friends. Family. Co-workers. Fellow homeless people. Prison-mates. Teachers. Books. Programs. Politicians. Well-known heroes from long ago. Movie characters. Actors. On and on it goes. Nobody, and nothing, should be a greater influencer and influence in our lives than God almighty and the Bible. A...

Desperately Weak, Wonderfully Strong

I realized late one morning as I sat at my computer working on my writing and eating a snack that I felt stronger than ever. Immediately the thought came that in truth I was weaker than ever. I was desperately weak, but wonderfully strong.

The apostle Paul writes about boasting about his weaknesses because God’s strength is perfected in his weakness. Christ’s power is on Paul in his weakness. Paul knows he is weak apart from God. It is the Lord’s strength that pours into and through him. Paul de...

The Glory Giver

I have a beloved long-time friend who is a glory giver. Ever known a glory giver? Are you a glory giver? Know what a glory giver is? I had never heard the term to the best of my recollection until the words landed in my heart one day courtesy of the Holy Spirit I can only imagine. Being that the Lord is all about His children being glory givers. Please consider the following verse before I tell you about my friend the glory giver.

“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, ...

Beautiful Voice

Think of the person you love most on this earth. Among all the things you love about that person, do you love to hear his or her voice? In spending time with that person, do you love not only to speak but also to hear your loved one speak? Not only to hear your loved one speak to others but most especially to speak one on one intimately and personally to you? Aren’t speaking and listening a vital part of your blessed relationship with that person? And isn’t the same true with other people who ar...

God’s Testing

When I was a school kid, my teachers sometimes gave us a little quiz. Sometimes a test. Then came the big exams. The Lord teaches us His ways in His Word – and tests us. Sometimes we seem to get a little quiz. Sometimes a test. Sometimes big exams. He is the perfect teacher, and He teaches us by His Holy Spirit through His Word and grows, refines, and transforms us through the teaching.

“Are you testing my endurance? And my faith? And my trust?” I asked the Lord one time. “And my heart? And my d...

Telephone Opportunities

Telephone Opportunities

I spend a fair amount of time on the telephone calling people I don’t know for one reason or another. Needing to place an order. Needing to ask about a delayed order. Needing help with a broken something or other. Needing to make an appointment. Needing to make a payment. Needing help in how to use something. Needing information regarding something. And the list goes on. For years, I have struggled with being impatient, upset, angry, prideful, judgmental, condemning, accu...
