Character Interview With Ethan Bishop from What A Girl Wants

Interviewer- “Welcome to the blog Ethan. We are excited to talk to you.”

Ethan- “Thank you for having me. I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous.”

Interviewer- “Well, we don’t bite, so relax…But, first question that I’m sure everyone is asking themselves-Were you really that clueless?”

Ethan laughs- “Wow-okay…Um, I assume you mean in respect to Bailey’s feelings for me?”

Interviewer- “Among other things-but we will get to those-so start with that.”

Ethan- “Well, we were best friends. We had been for so long and she’d never said anything before…I guess, I just really didn’t see her attraction to me as anything but friendly.”

Interviewer- “But what about her? You were never attracted to her?”

Ethan-“Bailey is the coolest woman I’ve ever known…And I always felt so lucky to have her in my life that I choose to ignore any attraction I felt for her. I guess I was afraid of messing up a good thing with her. And besides, there was Emily…”

Interviewer- “Agh! Emily-yes, how could we forget?”

Ethan- “She’s really not a bad person.”

Interviewer- “She told you she was having your child when she wasn’t.”

Ethan- “Okay, I can see where that can give you the impression that she’s a monster, but really she was scared and alone. What she did was wrong.”

Interviewer- “What she did almost caused you to lose Bailey for good. How did you convince her to give you another chance after all of that? I mean, you’re smoking hot, but…”

Ethan- “I messed up-big time and I am so grateful that she was willing to give me another chance. I think when you have a bond with someone so strong, like we do, being best friends first for so long, it’s a little easier to forgive. One mistake in a lifetime of good memories with a person makes it a little easier. That and the fact that I’ve spent every waking minute making it up to her. ”

Interviewer- “It’s a P.G. interview, so we won’t touch that, but we will ask-do you two plan to get married?”

Ethan- “As a matter of fact, I proposed on a trip to Venice.”

Interviewer- “She said yes I assume?”

Ethan- “Yes she did. For some crazy reason, she’s willing to give clueless me a chance to love her every day for the rest of her life.”

Interviewer- “I’m happy to hear that-Congratulations…Don’t mess it up.”

Ethan-“I won’t. Believe me, nothing could come between us now.”

Interviewer-“Thanks for being here today. Sorry we went a little tough on you. We really do love you.”

Ethan- “Thanks for hosting me.”

My thoughts:

What a page turner this book is really better than I thought it would be. Bentley has so many layers to her you can’t help but fall in love with you and relate to her in many ways. Bentley and Tristan are both trying to get over some past hurts and problems. Tristan pushes Bentley’s buttons in a way that no other person has in a long time. They really don’t understand why they are each drawn to each other.

The author does a great job with the characters and the over story. I will be checking out the 2nd book.

I’m pacing the living room when I hear a car engine cut. Throwing the door open, I don’t even
bother putting on a shirt or shoes. I open her car door before she even has a chance to unbuckle her seat belt.
“What the fuck were you thinking? Dante is going fucking nuts. Did it even occur to you that someone might actually be worried about your ass?  Answer your fucking phone once in a while.”
She gets out of the car, shuts the door, and turns to me to speak. Before she can hand me some half assed explanation, I have her up against the car, crushing her lips against mine. I had planned to be sweet about it but that shit went out the door with my impulse. I need to feel her, to taste her. I want to leave her breathless and unable to stand.
I slide my tongue between her lips, invading her mouth, and the taste of cinnamon tingling my tongue as I brush it back and forth against hers. I push into her even further digging my hands into her ass, pulling her up until she wraps her legs around my hips. I am at war with her mouth, needing to possess and dominate it as she fights back for control. I suck on her tongue each time she pushes back into my mouth, biting lightly on her bottom lip, and swallowing each small moan.
When I pull back to catch my breath, I am lost in the image before me. Her lips are swollen from my assault, her breathing heavy and erratic, and her eyes half lidded.
My dick is saluting her as it pushes up against her core. Before I can claim her lips again, a very loud and pissed off Dante interrupts us. As I set her back down, brushing my lips against her neck, I whisper a warning against her skin.  “We’re not done princess. Just because your little queen interrupted, doesn’t mean I’m finished with you, not even close. And if you ever pull a stunt like that again, I’ll tie you to my fucking bed and spank that ass until you can’t walk. You understand me, Bentley, don’t pull that shit again.”  Her eyes grow wide as she processes what I had just said. Biting her lip she nods in concession.
I watch, in reckless abandonment, the train wreck that unfolds in front of me as Dante throws a hissy fit that would put a three year old to shame. I can tell by the way Bentley keeps opening and closing her fists that this isn’t going to be pretty, and I am more than happy that for once I am not her target.  I damn near choke on my own spit when the words fly from her mouth. “Look here pecker pilferer, just because you decide to be a fickle twat doesn’t mean I’m going to up and rearrange my agenda. Don’t stand here bitching at me about your panties all up in a twist while you’re douche-canoeing the seven seas. You fucked up, not me. I’m not the one who got all flustered over a fuck nut and decided to verbally vomit all of my best friend’s secrets. You had no fucking right, so do not stand here acting as if I somehow did you wrong. You can go suck on a big fat donkey dong if you think I’m about to apologize to you. Keep that shit up and I’ll bitch slap the glitter right out of your fairy princess ass.”
I have to wonder where the fuck she comes up with this shit. I can’t say I’ve ever heard half the shit she’s just called him, although even that last bit has me laughing. Only because Dante is the least fairy looking dude I’ve ever seen. The notion of him as a fairy princess ranks up there with seeing The Rock in a tutu… it just isn’t right.
I vaguely catch on to the sad attempt for an apology he feeds Bentley, and I busy myself by snatching her keys and grabbing her bag out of the car.  It’s a shitty move leaving Dante to dig himself out of the hole he’s digging even deeper, but I have plans that I’d rather not waste trivial time getting to.

“I’ve loved you forever,” she gushed. “I don’t know how you never saw it. I think everyone knew except you. I didn’t date initially, because I didn’t want to date anyone but you. “What?” I inquired, bringing my hand up to wipe away her tears.

I thought about everything that had happened so far, and although I knew there was still a lot to work out, I didn’t want to lose the momentum we had going now. I couldn’t take the chance that Gwen would change her mind, or allow fear to take over again.

“Are you ready for me now?” I asked, searching her face for the answer. “I don’t want to waste anymore time. I want to see what we will be like together now. After a few years of only scattered conversations, most of them fights. I need the chance for you to know me now, and to get caught up on your life.”

“I’d like that.”

I looked at the clock on the dash and swore under my breath.

“I have to get back and head to the field. Coach is expecting me.”

“That’s okay, I have some work I need to do for my showcase.”

“Gwen,” I asked softly with a grin, mentally calculating how long it would be before I could be with her again. “Will you come over tonight after you’re done with what you have to do? I want to make you dinner.”

My thoughts

This is a first time reader for me and I enjoyed the book.  I did not want to put it down as I could not turn the pages fast enough.  Allison has some strange and interesting clients.  She is determined to put herself, family, co worker, and boyfriend at risk to find out what is going on and she doesn’t let up until she finds out.

The characters were well developed and the authors knows how to keep a reader interested.  I am glad I got to review this book for the blog tour.

Interview Questions for Cathy Gillen Thacker

What is your favorite Valentine memory from childhood? I loved getting ready for the school parties in elementary school. Everything from going to the store to pick out my Valentine’s Day card set, to addressing the valentines to all my classmates, sealing the envelopes with little candy hearts inside, then delivering the cards to all the other student mailboxes (usually hand-made by us in art class) and then taking the cards I received home, to open and enjoy. Also, at those parties there were usually cookies or cupcakes supplied by the room mothers for us to enjoy.

A howl woke her.

Celeste sat up and looked around the room.

The sun had finally gone down sometime after ten. Now the stars were brilliant, and a yellow moon was casting an amazing level of light in the nighttime hours.

There was a whimper and then another long howl.

Alaskan wolves.

She could sleep when she got back to Southern California.

She got up and hurried into her jeans. Only the range light was on in the kitchen, but with so much moonlight coming through the windows, it was easy to get to the mudroom and lace up her boots.

She opened the outer door slowly, sliding through to keep from moving it too much. A howl sounded, so much louder now that she was outside. She pressed the door shut and knelt down.

The starlight illuminated the wolves. At least six of them were pawing the ground as they moved along the road that connected the house with the test facility offices. Those offices weren’t even in sight.

But the wolves were.

And so was Nartan.

He was crouched down twenty feet away. Her breath caught as she took in the way he blended with the moment. The wolves made yipping sounds as they came closer, smelling the road and the air as they went.

Nartan lifted his hand and beckoned her toward him. Her steps seemed too noisy, the crunching sounds grating on her ears. A wolf looked toward her and she froze.

Nartan beckoned again, turning to look at her.

The animal was still fifty feet away, but it was looking toward her. She bit her lower lip, afraid of spooking the animal.

Nartan closed in on her, moving right up next to her.

“He can smell you. You’re upwind. Come down here with me. He won’t worry about you then.”

“Oh…”

Nartan clasped her hand and pulled her down to where he’d been. He lifted his head, judging the wind. The wolf let out a yip and joined the rest as they scratched at the dirt and one another. Two of them would circle another, lowering their heads and yipping. The wolf in the center was the one who lifted its head and let out a long howl.

“The alpha…” Nartan whispered.

He had his arm draped around her, his scent filling her senses.

Why did he smell so good?

Not that it really mattered. He was still as pond water but his skin was warm. His attention was on the wolves, but she felt like it was on her as well. He shifted just a bit, and inhaled next to her hair.

Fresh from bed, it was a soft cloud. She reached up, self–conscious about how messy it was. He caught her hand and stopped her as the alpha looked at them. The animal’s eyes were pools of moonlight. Its mouth was open, giving her a glimpse of its long canine teeth. It made a low sound before pushing its front paws out and stretching its neck up and tilting its head until its nose pointed at the moon. A long, mournful cry filled the night.

It felt like she was suspended in time. They might have been anywhere, in any year.

“Lower your head.”

He tucked his chin and cupped her nape.

“To show submission…”

Celeste stiffened. Nartan chuckled in a bare whisper next to her ear. “To the alpha.”

She bent, the wolf watching her before losing interest and moving along with the pack.

Nartan massaged her neck, his fingers working the stiffness from the muscles as she straightened. “Well done.”

It felt like there was innuendo in his comment. But maybe she was just being too sensitive.

To–be–dealt–with list.

She drew in a deep breath and forced herself to relax. The wolves were moving away now, heading toward a forested area. The alpha looked back at them before it disappeared into the timber.

“That was amazing,” she whispered.

Nartan’s hand was under her hair, the touch so intimate that she was loath to pull away. He threaded his fingers through her hair, pulling his hand free as he finger–combed the strands. He watched her as he did it, his eyes reflecting the moonlight just as the alpha’s had.

He was in his element.

Call it cheesy or lame but she couldn’t shake it.

So she rose, backing away from him as he stood. His shirt was open all the way down his front, his jeans sagging low on his waist because he didn’t have a belt on. And his feet were bare.

“Aren’t you cold?”

He slowly smiled and extended his hand. “Judge for yourself.”

She started to reach for him and froze. Indecision held her in its grip as the wind blew her hair around. One of his dark eyebrows rose as she hesitated.

Chicken…

She reached out and touched him. Allowed her fingertips to rest on his forearm for a moment that felt like a mini eternity. It ended when he twisted his arm around and captured her wrist. He stepped up to her, pulling her toward him. She could have broken the hold, if she was able to think.

Which she wasn’t.

Her brain seemed to have shut down. Somehow, she was caught in a storm of sensations, completely unwilling to think about anything. She simply wanted to experience the moment.

Well, it was quite a moment.

Rich with scents and sensations that were intoxicating. His breath teased her ear and then her cheek. A shudder shook her, sending a tiny gasp through her lips. Nartan took advantage of her parted lips, pressing his down on top of them and tasting them slowly.

God, how long had it been since she’d been kissed?

Pleasure flowed through her, gaining strength like a flame catching a wick. Sure, she knew that a candle was for lighting, but until it was lit, the memory of how bright it could shine was dim.

She stepped back. Startled by how much she liked his kiss.

She wanted more.

A hell of a lot more.

But she turned and headed back into the house before she could do anything impulsive.

Moon madness. That was all.

Only she wasn’t really sure if she would ever be sane again.
