Another new cover?
Yep! I just ordered a new cover for The Secret with the intention of testing it out to see which cover readers like best. If they like the new cover the best, I'll update the rest of the series to match. Hope I won't be hurting sales by having mismatched covers for a little while!!
What do you think? Does this convey the conspiracy theme of the book better?

I won't name names ...
...but, I got a really nice email from a reader yesterday that made my day. She mentioned she has some food sensitivities etc. and that she wished doctors like Lauren and Nicole from The Scinegue Series were real.
So do I!
We had one great doctor for a few visits who knew which tests to run to start pinpointing the cause of problems. Unfortunately, he's a couple of hours away, he doesn't take insurance, and since he mostly recommends supplements (which I think is great) they weren't covered by insurance either.
The most recent doctor we went to just does stuff by the book. She ran basic tests and said everything looks good. The end. It didn't matter what symptoms were there, if the test that she chose to run came back fine then there wasn't a problem. Sigh ...
I don't have any answers but there are some smart people out there educating themselves on health issues and then sharing what they learn with others. One very informative site is Stop The Thyroid Madness: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com . It's well worth spending a bit of time poking around there.
Do you know of any other great health sites? Post them in the comments.

I was going to lie there! (Lay there? Lie there?)
***That sounds so awkward. It sounds like I was going to tell I lie ... Have to admit what I really say is "I was going to lay there." ; >) Lie is technically correct though, isn't it? (I hope not. ; >)
Every time I try to get outside for a few minutes of vitamin D from the sun one of our dogs thinks I'm laying a towel out just for her. We race to see who gets to use it and she usually wins. And then won't budge. ; >)
Doesn't she look content? Looks like I'm going to have to start taking two towels out.

Black Bean Brownies - mostly allergy free!
I made something today that sounds so disgusting but tastes so good!
Black bean brownies.
Have you tried them? Well, you should. They are well worth it.
I've scanned lots and lots of recipes looking for one free of all the things I'm sensitive to and finally made a modified version of my own based on the recipe found here:
http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bl...
Preheat oven to 350
2 cans (15 oz) Black beans (or better yet, make your own!) drained and rinsed
1 cup Enjoy Life chocolate chips (divided)
6 T Coconut oil
2 T water
1 cup cocoa powder
1 1/3 cup brown sugar (you can of course play around with this by adding a more natural sweetener. Honey or Maple syrup might work really well if you omit or reduce the water in the recipe.)
3 T ground flax mixed with 7 1/2 T. water (let set at least 5 minutes)
2 t vanilla
1 t baking powder 1/8 t salt
Directions:
Add beans, 1/2 cup chocolate chips, coconut oil and 2 T water to a blender. (I use a Vitamix.) Blend until smooth. I had to scrape down the sides several times. A bit more water might help with that but I haven't tried it yet. I wasn't sure if it would bake properly.
Add cocoa powder, sweetener, the flax seed mixture, vanilla, baking powder and salt and mix well.
Pour into a greased (I use coconut oil) 13x9 glass container and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips evenly on top.
Bake for about 35-40 minutes. I would start checking at 35 but mine actually needed a bit more than 40. When a toothpick or knife comes out clean (or fairly clean if you like creamy, undercooked brownies!) remove from oven and let cool.
This recipe is free of the main foods that bother me and it's delicious! Maybe it will work for you!

Trying to Give up or Reduce Coffee Intake?
Have I got a treat for you!
I've seen Dandy Blend recommended as a caffeine free coffee substitute over the years but completely ignored it. I mean, I've tasted dandelion root and it's pretty bitter. Not exactly what I want to sip on a cold winter's morning.
Since I have low thyroid and adrenal function, I've worked hard to clean up my diet, but I've stubbornly refused to completely give up coffee. (Which is funny because I only started drinking it in the last seven years or so. I didn't like it at all before that.) Anyway, deciding that cutting out caffeine is something I really need to try to improve my health, I broke down and ordered a bag of Dandy Blend from iHerb. And you know what? It's one of the best decisions I've made.
It tastes great, is actually supposed to be healthy for you rather than unhealthy and it seems to be very reasonably priced when you consider you only need a teaspoon of the product per cup. (Well, I use a rounded teaspoon, but still ...)
Today, since it's icy and cold out I decided to go ahead and make a pot of coffee for a treat. Yuck! (Well, maybe not quite yuck ; >) but I missed my Dandy Blend!)
If you want or need to give up coffee, I highly recommend Dandy Blend. You might not like it more than coffee, but then again, you might!
Let me know what you think!
I ordered it here:
