Weekly Notes, February 17, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:
Last week was an interesting weather week. It snowed, and then we had freezing rain, and then just plain cold rain. And while I am very thankful we didn't loose power, our WiFi internet going down due to satellite dish on top of roof was frozen over solid didn't help my work schedule.
So, since I am a firm believer in taking a bit of down time for yourself or your family is important, and I was not feeling the best anyways, I decided to take advantage of the internet being down and curl up with a blanket and read. I was able to almost finish Talyn Scott's Six Feet Under Series.
So no, not a lot of writing got done last week; but it was important for me to take a step back and recharge my cells. Now, on a better note, the trailer for Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose is up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLXLBy...) and the official release date for this book is February 27! Keep a watch out on facebook for the release day party event, as I hope to have that set up this week!

Fan of the Week:
This week’s winner of the fan of the week award goes to: April Harvey. Congratulations!
The prize this week is a handmade necklace made by my lovely co-author and daughter,
Lady V.

Quote of the Week:

A Note from the Paws:
From Harley and White Star: Have we told you recently how annoying the puppy is when it snows? He comes in all wet, shaking the cold wetness everywhere, and as soon as he is dried off and his paws are wiped free of mud (and believe us, we laugh watching this because he hates his paws messed with), he starts running from one end of the house to another as if the poor guy hasn't a brain in his head. We almost feel sorry for him. Almost.
But when he dug up one of the human's rose bushes and destroyed it, in the process of getting covered in mud, we really laughed as we watched him get a bath from the doorway. He looked like a huge, drowned rat! That was after he got in trouble for digging up the human's flower bushes! Snicker-snicker!

The new releases for JK Publishing will start up again next week. We are changing our new release day from Tuesday to Thursday. So, starting next week, I will be announcing the new releases for the prior week.
Want to keep up with the latest and hottest releases? Stop on over at http://www.jkpublishingauthors.com and sign up for their weekly newsletter. Not only will you read all about the latest releases, but interviews are done on the authors occasionally with some hilarious results! So, stop by and say hi!

Weekly Notes, February 10, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:
Happy Valentine's Day! Yes, this is the week we show our loved one's just how much they mean to us. But guess what? I am taking this as an opportunity to show all of you...my supporters and fans, just how much I appreciate everything you have done for me!
So, to begin with, I owe each of you a huge THANK YOU! Without you standing behind me, I would have never been able to make my dream come true. It means so much to me to know I have so many supporters out there! Thank you for helping to promote on Twitter and facebook, for the wonderful reviews, for all the well wishes, and especially for buying my books!
For those of you who are waiting, you will be happy to know that Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers, #1 is finished! It is currently at the beta reader's, and should be going to editor some time this week. Below is a photo of the cover, and it is smokin' hot!
We are also eagerly anticipating the release of Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose, #1. We have a tentative date of Feb. 18 for release. As soon as I get a definite release date, I'll be sure to post it on facebook.
And have no fear, I have not slowed down! No, Lady V and I are working hard on both Dragonose books two and three, and I'll be starting the Texas Vampire Rangers #2 soon also.

Fan of the Week:
Since this is Valentine's week, we are going to change things up just a bit. Instead of just one
winner, we are going to pick three! So here goes:
The winners this week will be able to choose their prize:
1. Your choice of free ebook from my back list which includes; Vampires Among Us, The Music Box, or A Special Gift, Vampires Among Us #2
2. An autographed 8.5 x 11 photo of cover of upcoming release: Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose #1
3. Your choice of mousepad of either A Special Gift or Sapphamire
This week’s winners (yes, we are naming three this week!) of the fan of the week award goes to:
Linda Smith Eleanor Harkins Vicki Hancock
Now, we just received bookmarks for the upcoming release: Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose, #, and they have turned out beautiful! I would love to send one to anyone interested, and if you are part of a reading group let me know, I'll be glad to send out more. These will be autographed by both Lady V and myself. Simply leave a comment at the bottom of this news letter and I will get them sent out to anyone interested!

Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:
The weather caused a few headaches with the internet connection last week, so you may not have seen me on line much. Fear not, I used the time wisely and have made good progress in Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose, Book 2.
Lady V and I are also gearing up for the upcoming release of Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose, Book 1. I don't have an official release date yet, but it should be within the next two weeks. We are very excited about this book and can't wait to share it with you!
Also, for those of you who follow The Romance Studio and their parties, both Lady V and I will be participating in their Valentine's party, held Mon. Feb. 10 through Friday, Feb 14. We will also be participating in the TRS release party on Feb. 22. We hope to see you there as we will be talking about our book and giving away some cool prizes. Set your calendars and join us!

Fan of the Week:
This week’s winner of the fan of the week award goes to: Christina Kocher Congratulations Christina! Quote of the Week:
A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find, lucky to have.
A Note from the Paws:
Snow! Snow! We got snow! And while the humans grumbled about how cold it was, and what a mess it made, I played, and played, and played! Oh I am a truly happy puppy!
And then I spent the weekend with my aunt and uncle! They are really cool people who have three dogs of their own, so I love going over to visit and play with their dogs. But now my owners have come and brought me back home, where I plan to sleep at least the next forty- eight hours away! It is hard work being a puppy and having so much fun!

Weekly Notes, January 27, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:
Last week was yet again another busy week! Final edits on Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose, 1 have been approved, and I am now being told to expect a release date shortly after Valentine's Day. Keep a watch on the website as I am working on a couple of "meet the cast" interviews that will be posted soon!
Also on the horizon, we have started book two of the Dragonose series, Fire and Ice, and the story is developing nicely. The cover for this book is already being worked up, so I'll be able to share that within next week or two.
Lady V has started the third book in the Dragonose series, tentatively named, Ivormantis. She is keeping this one under wraps from even me, so I guess we will all be surprised together; although I do know it is Dominic's story!
And Up in Flames,Texas Vampire Ranger, book 1 is still being worked on also. This one is getting close to being finished. I am hoping to have it completed and in my beta reader's hands within the next two weeks! Ran into a small snag that I didn't care for the heroine's personality and had to go back and make some changes. Still have the final fight scene to add, and since Lady V is so much better at writing the action scenes, I have asked her to look the book over also.

Fan of the Week:
This week’s winner of the fan of the week award goes to: Naomi Bellina
Naomi wins a $5.00 gift card from JK Publishing, along with a small framed photo from my book, A Special Gift, Vampires Among Us #2

A Note from the Paws:
It snowed last week! I went outside and romped and stomped with the other neighborhood dogs until we were all frozen pop cycles. My humans are groaning about the cold weather, but I love it! My girl friend lives across the street, and she comes over at night for us to run around my yard.
The picture was taken one day last week as I was chilling in my human's arms with a raw hide stick. I love laying back and snoozing as she scratches my belly! Ahh, the life! Yep, I am one spoiled puppy dog!
Oh, and guess what? I lost my first tooth tonight! My human girl said she was going to play tooth fairy for me. I don't know what that means, but it sounds fun!

Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:

This past week proved to be a busy one. In between continuing Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers, #1, Lady V and I also came up with the story outlines for both books two and three in the Dragons of Dragonose series. Lady V also got her website up and going, (http://authorladyv.com) and we received both the cover art for Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose #1, and first round edits on the book!
Planning on getting the edits done and turned back in this week, and I am hoping to have a locked in date for publication soon to announce. Meanwhile, I'll be continuing to try to finish Up in Flames, and also start working on Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose, #2.

Fan of the Week:
This week’s winner of the fan of the week award goes to: Beckey White! Congratulations!

Quote of the Week:
Laughing is one of the best exercises; it's like running inside your mind. You can do it almost anywhere, and it's even better with a friend!
A Note from the Paws:
We demanded that our story be told this week. These humans that we live with have gone crazy! The entire family! We walked out from stinking up our litter boxes to see the dog lying across the girl's lap. We then noticed that he was sucking on the girl's thumb! Yuk! I mean really! Why doesn't anyone tell that mutt that he is a canine, and as such doesn't need to suck on a human's fingers?
Then they leave for several hours. Now, we are accustomed to them doing this, and they usually get greeted with us looking up at them bleary eyed, due to just waking up. But no, not the dog. They keep him in a large crate, which makes it next to impossible to scratch his eyes out while they are gone, but not impossible to harass! The minute they walk through the door he is whining and jumping around, acting as if he has missed them terribly. Then they let him out of the crate and it is worse.
To make matters worse, they look down at us and state, "At least the dog missed us while we were gone." Pul-ease! Can you imagine two cats jumping around acting like retards every time the humans came home? No, we have entirely too much class for that! Now, if it was just possible to teach the dog some class, we'd be in great shape! Harley & Whitestar

Laughing is one of the best exercises; it's like running inside your mind. You can do it almost anywhere, and it's even better with a friend!
A Note from the Paws:

Weekly Notes, January 13, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:

It's been a crazy week with weather here in NC. Went from unseasonably warm to bitter cold fast! We dodged all the snow, though, which personally, I think if you are going to have below normal, freezing temperatures, you might as well add some of that fluffy white stuff in the mix. But no, we just got cloudy freezing cold temps.
Then Saturday hit and it suddenly warmed back up (like 30 degrees) and severe storms hit. Since my sister lives in a older, much better built house than I do, we decided to spend the afternoon with her. Thankfully, the storms passed and the kids talked and did nails, and sis and I drank Southern Comfort and coke all afternoon!
On the writing end of things: Still knocking it out on Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers #1, and Lady V and I have already been requested by the beta reader to get writing more in the dragon series! I am hoping to have the cover for that book to post some time this week! So, Lady V and I are tossing around some ideas for not only book two of the dragon series, but book three also! It will be a busy remainder of the month!
Lady V signed her first contract this weekend and is very happy! A signed contract is now hanging on her wall in her bedroom, where a photo of the book cover will also be hanging. Mr. Brown and I worked on developing her a website last week, and it should be up and going by the end of this week. I'll let everyone know when it is available so you can go check it out!

Quote of the Week:
Never test how deep the water is with both feet.
A Note from the Paws:

From the paws of Shadow: I went on a trip this weekend! No, it was not my first trip. The humans have already taken me to the pet store and let me sniff around all the different scents from other animals. No, this weekend I went to Romper Room. The adults call it Aunt's house, but it's my Romper Room. Auntie has three other dogs, and let's us rough house in her house! We chase each other from one end to the other, and when we catch each other, we roll and nip, and generally have a lot of fun! She even throws balls for us to catch in her house! She always has a treat for me when I get there, and spoils me. She is a wonderful aunt for a puppy like me! I get to go spend an entire week with her this spring when the humans go on vacation! I can't wait!

A Place For Her by Lynn Ray Lewis Warning: For Mature Adult Audiences. Contain language and actions some may deem offensive. Sexually explicit content. Ménage – MMF
At an early age, Venture Sidewell learned to trust no one but herself. Left to grow up on her own without any family around taught Ventura to be an independent, resilient woman. Finally, years later she possesses the knowledge and the means to save an abused woman who was never far from her thoughts. For her efforts, Ventura finds herself the object of a monster who is hell bent on taking back what is his.
Thornton Trebor and Terrence Decker are friends with benefits, each with a job to keep Ventura safe in their own way—one as a bodyguard—the other a cop. Both find they want more than just to protect her. They want to keep her by their sides, if they can keep her alive.
The three have baggage and pasts, which tend to have a way of catching up on them. Will Ventura's past find a way to kill her? Or will the men who have taken a personal interest in her, lose her to the monster.

Forgotten Summer by Carlene Laye Previously published, and revised for Christian Romance.
In book one, "Forgotten Summer" of the Christian Romance series "The Chandler Family": The Chandler Family are blessed with several gifts from God. Passed down from their ancestor through one of God's Angels. With evil beginning to build in the world, God knew it would take supernatural gifts to overcome this evil that was entrapping His people within its hold.
He sent an Angel to bestow this gift upon the ancestors of the family who would play a large part in overcoming this evil. With every generation, the descendants’ gifts would grow stronger to battle the evil, which was spreading like wildfire.
The Chandler Family lived with the knowledge of their destiny all their lives. Each of the siblings having been given a special gift they would use to help the ones they loved along the world around them. Now, they would wait for the day the foretold evil would enter their world.
In God’s ultimate wisdom, He saw the people who would come into these special people’s lives. They would need gifts as well to help defeat the evil they would soon come up against.
Meet this extraordinary family as their youngest daughter, Angel is placed as the first to do His bidding, using her gift that was passed down from the Almighty for the purpose of both good and the fight against evil.

Weekly Notes January 6, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown:

Life has finally slowed down from all of the holiday rush, and I am slowly getting back into a writing pattern. Currently working on Up In Smoke, Texas Vampire Rangers, Book 1. Want a snippet? Okay, here is just a short one. Please remember that this is completely unedited.
Up In Smoke, Texas Vampire Rangers, Book 1 (snippet)
He was a dead man. Okay, technically, many would say that he was already dead because he was a vampire, but he didn’t believe that for a moment. He was made up of flesh and blood, just like everyone else. He had feelings. He had morals and values. He had goals in life. Ones he wasn’t going to live to see come true if he didn’t get out of this damn blasted Texas sun and heat.
Also worthy of mentioning; Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose is finished and currently in the editors hands. We should still be on track for an early March release date.

Quote of the Week:
I know the voices in my head aren't real...but sometimes their ideas can be absolutely awesome!
A Note from the Paws:

Hi everyone! I am Harley (the one in the back sitting up) and the cat in front of me is my brother White Star.
We had a party last week! When the humans took all of their Christmas decorations down, my brother and I climbed into boxes and totes, playing with anything we could. It's a wonder we didn't get closed up in a tote and moved to the garage!
And while we have been informed that we get spotlight appearances on this blog, we were also told that we would have to share it with the D-O-G (ugggh!), and maybe even that ornery reptile they call a bearded dragon once in a while. That thing thinks it rules MY house! Can you imagine? Comes out of his tank, the humans sit him on the floor, and the first thing he does is come running up to MY bed, where I am minding my own business and resting, and then starts hissing at me!
I'd like to put the little monster in his place, but to be honest, he is about 18 inches long and still growing. I'm kind of scared of something that big!
And don't even get me started about that puppy that they brought into the family a week before Christmas. When he first arrived, he was about my size. Okay, I felt like I could take him on if I had to. Now, just a few short weeks later, he is twice my size! What in the world are they feeding that dog?
Have a great week!
