Another good week of writing and we have more to share with you this week. Here are a few snippets from Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2. We are anticipating having this book finished and turned in for editing within the next few weeks! So exciting as it is coming along! Please note, snippets have not been edited!

A Message from the Paws:
Hi, my name is White Star. I am the baby of the Brown family. I was very sick when I was a kitten,and pretty much got away with whatever I wanted to, because the humans were too scared I was going to die. Now, ten years later, I am as spoiled as can be. I hate mice, and let the humans catch them (whoever said that was a cat's job is crazy!). I spend most of the time either sleeping on my mama's bed or sunning myself in front of the big bay window in the living room.
I think I have finally got it through those thick headed humans that I own everything in the house, including them. They live with me for the sole purpose of making sure the house is clean, and that I am taken care of. That includes an endless supply of treats whenever I deem necessary.
For all of their hard work, I reward them greatly. I take pity on them and curl up beside them if one of them is not feeling well. I also take the time to make sure I rub my scent all over anything new that comes into the house, because after all, I own it. I have been known to leave a trail of drool running down a laptop screen, much to my owner's annoyance.
But just look at me, how could you not love someone like me?

Whew! What a busy week we had last week!
Lady V and I decided to start a group on facebook last week called, Dragons, Vampires, & Werewolves...oh my! We would like to invite you to come join us. Each day will be a different theme. Monday Bites (vampires), Tuesday Tidbits (this is where we will be sharing snippets of our current works), Wednesday Wolves, Thursday Hotties, and Friday fabulous fairies, scales & tails (dragons). I had a wonderful time last week as I helped fellow JK Author Lynn Ray Lewis celebrate her poodle's sweet sixteen birthday party! I took over the human's computer, chatted with a lot of nice people, told my story about how I had been dumped off and now have a wonderful home,and even gave away a few prizes! I think I'll have to confiscate the computer more often and try that again. What fun!
The below photo is of me riding in mom's car on our way back from the park. I love hanging my head out the window, and feeling the breeze on my face! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!--Shadow

It was an exciting time last week, and we have a lot of good news to share with you. First, both A

We know a lot of you have asked about books coming out in paperback; and we are very happy to announce that these two books are now available on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites. More good news! we were able to make some real headway in Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2 over the past week, with much more to come. We thought we would share with you a small snippet of the story. Please be advised this has NOT been edited what-so-ever, but we are so excited with where the story is going, we felt like we had to share.
Snippet from Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2
Evangelina Blackmon sipped on her glass of white wine while perched on a bar stool talking with her best friend, Angel. “Well, at least I’ll be able to keep my lights on another month, thanks to the newspaper article I am going to be knocking out tonight.”
Her friend gave her a sympathetic look. “I know. I swear it gets harder and harder to make ends meet every month!” She shook her head as she reached for her beer. “The little bit of fun I allow myself now has to be taken out of grocery money.”
Evangelina already felt bad for cutting the night short, she didn’t want to bog down their spirits complaining about finances. “Oh, but did I tell you I saw the best looking man I have ever laid my eyes on today at the parade? Honey, he put everyone else to shame!” She leaned in a bit closer so only her friend could hear. “I about climaxed right there in the middle of the street!”
Her friend burst out into giggles. “Now this I’ve got to hear. Come on, I want details, girlfriend!”
“Well, he was really tall. Like, well over six feet. And a body to die for. You could tell he worked out, no man has that kind of upper body muscles without working out heavily. He had the prettiest blonde hair; just begging for a woman’s fingers to run through.”
Angel laughed. “I was about to tell you to turn around that your dream man was right behind you, but he has short, black hair.”
Evangelina turned her head over her shoulder just to see what her friend was talking about, and almost fell off her bar stool. Because standing right beside her, ordering two beers, was her dream man, only it wasn’t her dream man. This man had black hair. But other than the difference in hair color, he was almost identical to the man she had seen at the parade today.
“Good evening ladies, can I buy you a drink?” He asked solicitously.
Evangelina stared at the man that could pass for her dream guy’s twin. Then she realized after a long minute that her mouth was hanging wide open. Smooth girl, real smooth. Thankfully, her friend didn’t appear to be dumbstruck like herself.
“Umm, hi, I’m Angel, and this is Evangelina. And sure, if you want to get our drinks refilled, that would be great.”
Evangelina realized while her friend was talking that this stranger dude couldn’t seem to take his eyes off of her. And then he smiled, and his entire face lit up. The man is gorgeous, she thought. But then, as if by magic, her dream guy came walking up.
“Hey bro, got those beers yet?”

A Message from the Paws:
What an exciting day I had yesterday! I got to go on my very first Easter Egg hunt! Little colorful eggs that were filled with all kinds of treat goodies!
And then the humans grilled out! The weather didn't turn out all that great; but they just moved everything inside where I got to join in on a meal of chicken, potato salad, vegetables, homemade rolls, and cake. What a feast I had! How was your Easter? Oh, something called the Easter Bunny dropped off some toys and stuffed animals for me too, but I am not sure when he came, because I sure didn't hear anyone coming in our front door! Hmm, I think maybe I better start paying better attention to sounds at night! Can't have strangers walking into my house, even if they do leave goodies!

Last week was the release of Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers, 1. We held the release party Tuesday evening and had one of the largest turn outs we have seen yet. Joining up with fellow JK authors Jess Buffett and Gracie Meadows, there were plenty of prizes and a good time had by all that attended!

A Message from the Paws:
As many of you might have seen on facebook, I injured my left paw earlier this week. I got bit or stung by something, but my owners took me straight over to my aunt's house (she is a vet tech) and she took wonderful care of me, and I am feeling much better now! Once back home, my mommy spoiled me rotten, including introducing me to a late night run to get a cheeseburger for me. Hey, the medicine I was on was making me hungry! I was introduced to those wonderful, delicious double cheeseburgers and french fries that night. What a late night snack!
I am currently spending time back over at my aunt's house. She has several dogs, and we love to romp and stomp through her house! She even allows me to jump and play on the furniture, something I can't do at my house. My family had to go out of town for a couple of days, so I am staying at the aunties, which has been named doggy romper room! It's a blast! Have a great week! I overheard my mommy talking about some kind of "hunt" coming up. An Easter Egg hunt. Don't know what that is, but is sure sounds like fun!

I am currently spending time back over at my aunt's house. She has several dogs, and we love to romp and stomp through her house! She even allows me to jump and play on the furniture, something I can't do at my house. My family had to go out of town for a couple of days, so I am staying at the aunties, which has been named doggy romper room! It's a blast! Have a great week! I overheard my mommy talking about some kind of "hunt" coming up. An Easter Egg hunt. Don't know what that is, but is sure sounds like fun!

Weekly Notes, April 7, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown & Lady V:
As a few of you already know by now, last week was a very stressful, mind-numbing week as the Brown family attempted to deal with the sudden death of my younger sister.
She died quite suddenly last Saturday, March 29, and as you can imagine, last week was filled with grieving family members as we all tried wrapping our heads around someone so young taken from us.
If there is to be any good news from this situation (and there really never is, actually), it is that both my youngest sister and myself have vowed to get our own health on track and get in shape. I am hoping maybe the "buddy" system will work as we keep each other in check. Progress to be announced.
Due to situations that have been totally out of our control, Fire and Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2 is running a bit behind. Lady V and I hope to start working on this book again later this week.
Don't forget: The release party for Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers, 1 is Tuesday, April 8, from 6-10 p.m. EST. We are having this one in the evening so that we can include my good friends Gracie Meadows, and Jess Buffett as they are also releasing with me. Jess lives in Australia, so in order for her to participate with the time difference, we are holding this in the evening. Hope to see everyone there!--Alice

A Message from Lady V:
I thought I'd give everyone an update on Shadow this week. As many already know, this puppy showed up at our doorstep a week before Christmas, half-starved, full of ticks, and freezing to death in the cold rain. Still, no one was in bigger shock than I was when mom turned to me and said, "If you want him, we'll keep him. But you are going to have to take responsibility for his upkeep and training."
We hadn't had a dog in almost five years, and as far as I knew, mom didn't want another dog. How quickly things change. Today, Shadow is a loving member of the family, and as you can see, a very happy and healthy six month old puppy weighing in at 54 lbs.! And mom, well, Shadow has worked his way into her heart. She only lifted an eyebrow and calmly told me to "take care of it" when we came home to a torn up shoe last week! (Of course, the shoe that was destroyed wasn't one of her's, it was dad's! I seriously doubt she would have remained calm if it had been a pair of her heels!) --Lady V

We are back from Vegas!

Our family was forced to say goodbye to our oldest cat, Muffet this week. She was 17 years old, and had been with our family since she was 2. In typical cat style, she was a moody old lady, and we told her nine years ago when we moved that it was her retirement home. She was well loved and will be sorely missed, especially in light of the fact she seemed to be the only one that could catch a mouse!

Weekly Notes, March 10, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown & Lady V:
Both Lady V and myself went back to seventh grade science this week as we attempted to help my niece do several projects (including writing a children's book) on Newton's Laws. Informed niece that she needed to let us know what grade we got for the projects. Since I clearly remember flunking science in high school way back in the stone ages, we will see if I have learned anything since then!
Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose has received several five star reviews on both Kindle and Goodreads. If you get a minute, go check them out!
Edits have been completed and turned back into editor for Up in Flames, Texas Vampire Rangers 1. I am hoping for a release date sometime towards the end of April.
With edits out of the way, I am looking forward to concentrating on Fire and Ice (Book 2 of Dragons of Dragonose) and Ivormantis (Book 3) this week. Lady V and I are also preparing for our upcoming trip to Vegas, Feb. 19-24. Plan on emptying my camera before I go so I can take lots of pictures!

Straight from the Paws:
As you can tell from the photo, Shadow, who is now approximately 6 months old, got his very own dragon to celebrate the release of Sapphamire, thanks to Mr. Brown. He is currently weighing in at 39 lbs. and has turned out to be a wonderful addition to our family. Looking at him now, it is hard to believe it is the same puppy that showed up after getting dumped in front of our house a week before Christmas, half starved, freezing to death (it was cold and raining the morning he showed up), and full of ticks.
Currently, Mr. Brown has yet to be forgiven for buying the dog the toy because it has sixteen squeakers in it! And wouldn't you know that Shadow's favorite thing to do is bring his toy into my office and sit down at my feet squeaking his toy?
So, while Shadow is now sleeping in Lady V's bed, Mr. Brown is currently residing in the doghouse!

With edits out of the way, I am looking forward to concentrating on Fire and Ice (Book 2 of Dragons of Dragonose) and Ivormantis (Book 3) this week. Lady V and I are also preparing for our upcoming trip to Vegas, Feb. 19-24. Plan on emptying my camera before I go so I can take lots of pictures!

Straight from the Paws:As you can tell from the photo, Shadow, who is now approximately 6 months old, got his very own dragon to celebrate the release of Sapphamire, thanks to Mr. Brown. He is currently weighing in at 39 lbs. and has turned out to be a wonderful addition to our family. Looking at him now, it is hard to believe it is the same puppy that showed up after getting dumped in front of our house a week before Christmas, half starved, freezing to death (it was cold and raining the morning he showed up), and full of ticks.
Currently, Mr. Brown has yet to be forgiven for buying the dog the toy because it has sixteen squeakers in it! And wouldn't you know that Shadow's favorite thing to do is bring his toy into my office and sit down at my feet squeaking his toy?
So, while Shadow is now sleeping in Lady V's bed, Mr. Brown is currently residing in the doghouse!

Weekly Notes, March 3, 2014
Straight from the desk of Alice Brown & Lady V:
It's been an exciting week as Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose was released last Thursday Feb. 28. We held our first ever pre-release party, right here on our blog; and then joined up with fellow JK author Gracie Meadows to throw a HUGE release party on facebook Thursday afternoon.
Then we woke up Friday morning to discover our book made was mentioned in USA Today. I honestly can't tell you who was more excited, Lady V or myself. I still feel like maybe it was a dream.
There is a lot of "behind the scenes" paperwork that goes along with a new book getting published. A lot of sites that authors use to help promote them all get updated when a new release hits. Blogs are requested, reviews are requested, etc. It is a fairly lengthy list, but we are hoping to have everything caught up by middle of the week. That will free up time to get back to writing. While Lady V works on book three of Dragons of Dragonose, Alice will be working on edits to her new series, Texas Vampire Rangers.
Busy, busy week, but (hopefully) we will get caught up and get back to doing what we love to do the best...write!

Lady V is in the spotlight this week. So Lady V, what was it like last week to have your first book published?
Lady V: It was an incredible exciting, but scary all at the same time. I loved talking to everyone that was at our two parties, and I feel like I am starting to break out my shell that surrounds me. But Friday morning, when I discovered we were in USA Today? I jumped out of bed, went running to Alice. When I arrived I was so excited that I literally couldn't speak, could barely breathe. She started hitting the panic button thinking something dreadful had happened, and was beginning to wish she had never even rolled out of bed. When I was finally able to give her the good news, and that was after trying to get myself under control for about 2-3 minutes, we both started jumping and shouting! That's the thing I love about Alice. Yes, she is my mom. But she is also my best friend. And when something incredible happens like this, she is right there with me jumping up and down, and yelling (thank goodness we don't have any close neighbors).
Tidbit of the Week: From Alice Brown
In the middle of all the craziness of a book release, my thirteen year old niece came over Saturday afternoon. She joined us as we went to Raleigh to listen to a favorite singer of ours perform, and then spent the night. She hit us up for help in several projects that have a very short deadline on them.
So, in the middle of everything, Mr. Brown and I steered and helped her do a collage, a brochure (Mr. Brown gets extra points on that!), and a video of her explaining the meaning of Newton's Laws.
You'll be happy to know that Mr. and Mrs. Brown still have it! We aced all three projects and niece even had time to play Mario Bros. on the Wii.
The only project left is to write a children's book. Piece of cake...oh wait, I can't put any hot steamy scenes in this kids book. Okay, that might be a problem!

We are in party mode this week!!!
First off, we are undergoing some changes. Lady V has agreed to join me on the weekly blog, giving you two times the entertainment. So, I am going to get the "news" portion out of the way first, and then have some fun.
Sapphamire, Dragons of Dragonose 1 is set to be released this Thursday, Feb. 27. We will be having two separate parties for this release. One is on facebook and will be held the day of the release. (https://www.facebook.com/events/60266...)
But.....we are also holding our first ever pre-release party right here on our blog! That's right, all of our website fans and supporters can now join in on the fun! We will be playing games and giving away prizes as we eagerly await the release of the book. So come join us! Details are below.

Interview with Lady V & Sapphamire:
Lady V sat down to ask Sapphamire a few personal questions. This is the result.
Lady V: In the book you and Blain don't see eye to eye sometimes. How often does that happen?
Sapphamire: Of sweets, the man drives me crazy sometimes! I mean, he waited for what seemed like forever just to tell Natasha that she was our mate! And anything could have happened during this time. She might have fallen down the stairs to her death. Or being poisoned or any number of things could have happened while he got cold feet.
Lady V: Prior to Natasha, have you or Blain ever been in love before? I mean, we all know that Blain Barrymire was a playboy. But did either of you ever fall in love?
Sapphamire: (shakes his head) I told Blain his past was going to come back to bite him! No, while I won't deny that Blain has slept around, he nor I have ever fallen in love. We knew we wouldn't unless we found our mate. But my pretty, you should come back to Dragonose with us. As beautiful as you are, you are bound to be someone's mate. We don't get very many young, pretty girls that come.
Lady V: Thank you for the offer Sapphamire. I'll have to think about it. Do you think more of your kind will come to earth to find their mate?
Sapphamire: If I go back home and show them a picture of you they will be! They'll be pushing each other out of the way to get through the portal. Can I give them your address?
Lady V: NO!
