The winter solstice has finally arrived, and I, for one, am looking forward to the longer days.
The next Devonshire Mystery is mainly set in the Devon city of Exeter, and I thought you might like to see some of the locations I refer to. So here are some pictures of the cathedral and the area around it.
I hope you enjoy them.

A Christmas Message from Rawlgeeb
Season’s greetings, Earthlings,
I trust that this missive finds you in good spirits, despite the cloud of befuddled confusion that seems to descend on most of you at around this time of year. I blame the climate and the lack of live reptiles in your diet. Were you to nibble on a couple of live vipers now then, you’d certainly have good reason to keep your wits about you during the cold winter months. But I digress.
Things have been quiet here at Bolster and Associates Investigations. As you know...

A Chat with the Author Michael Campling – 14 December 2021
Another chat, and this time I talk a bit about how I use dictation software. I also mention the current special offer on my mystery, Valley of Lies.
The video version of this chat is on Youtube and on my Facebook page. As ever, the audio of this chat is available as a podcast which you can play below, download or subscribe. It’s entirely up to you.
If you have a question for me, please pop it in a comment or drop me a line and let me know. I’ll answer it as best as I can.

A misty December evening in the valley.
The village was silent as Lottie and I went for a mooch around, and I had to try and capture the moment.
These photos are all taken from the little village where we live, so I haven’t captioned each one.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Here’s another chat with an accompanying video, and this time there’s a reading from my work in progress, which is the next Devonshire Mystery.
I also remind you all about the free mystery story, Death at Blackingstone Rock.
The video is on Youtube and on my Facebook page. As ever, the audio of this chat is available as a podcast which you can play below, download or subscribe. It’s entirely up to you.

Sunday was cold, with a harsh wind but clear blue skies – perfect for a bracing walk on Dartmoor, so long as you’re wrapped up.
Sue, Lottie and I were among a handful of souls who’d ventured onto the high and exposed stretch of Dartmoor around Hay Tor, and we had a great time. The fresh, crisp air really let you know that you were alive, and it certainly blew the cobwebs away.
I hope you enjoy the photos.

A Chat with the Author Michael Campling – 1 December 2021
Here’s another chat with an accompanying video, in which I chat about my upcoming audiobook and mention the thank you videos I’m posting on Instagram to acknowledge the kind people who’ve sent me mugs of tea via ko-fi.com.
I also uploaded the video to my Facebook page. Essentially, there’s no getting away from me.
I jest. Please feel free to ignore anything that doesn’t take your fancy. As ever, the audio of this chat is available as a podcast which you can play below, download or subscribe. It’...

We’ve had some glorious sunny spells recently, and the sunlight has really shown off the colours of the autumn foliage.
Of course, this being England, we’ve also had some wintry showers and cold blasts of air. Storm Arwen was the latest, but we escaped unscathed, unlike the poor folks who went without power for several days. I have heard that in places, the poles supporting the power lines were snapped clean in two, so we have cause to be thankful that we live in a sheltered corner of the UK.
I ...

A Chat with the Author Michael Campling – 26 November 2021
Here’s a chat with an accompanying video, in which I read a couple of snippets from my work in progress, the upcoming Devonshire Mysteries novel.
I hope you enjoy it, and yes, I do look scruffy, but it’s cold outside and my little writing room is a bit chilly, hence the two fleeces and the fingerless gloves.
I’ll try better next time, and wear a jacket or something.
If you have a question for me, please pop it in a comment or drop me a line and let me know. I’ll answer it as best as I can.
