"I never needed someone to want me

“I never needed someone to want me

to be happy. I tell my friends not to rely on

someone else to fill their heart with affection

to know that they are loved. I used to always

think that I needed to be in a relationship

to someday feel complete. When I looked

at couples on the street or in the theater

pressing their mouths together I thought

that’s what happiness meant, that’s what

being in love looked like. But when my mouth

was finally against someone else’s mouth

while The Notebook was playing on the big screen

I still didn’t feel happy and I still didn’t savor

how most say true love tastes. So now

when I walk down the strip mall and see couples

hands intertwined, I don’t feel envious or lonely.

Now when I go to the theater by myself

I don’t look around to see couples in love

for an hour and a half, but I watch the movie screen

and think about how good it feels

to finally be okay sitting next to my alone.”

hey honeychild. you & your words are absolutely gorgeous. thank you! would you have any advice for a writer who happens to have the biggest writers block? you inspire me always. thank you once again.

hello sweet peach. Thank you so much for your words, love.

For me, I try to step away from all electronics. Even for just a moment, to clear my head. I step outside and I take in what’s around me. I also read the words of others, which helps me gain another perspective on not only my feelings. I watch films, television shows and listen to new music or playlists on 8tracks. Doing things that you don’t normally do helps, or I think. Try even going out, even just to a bookstore or something. Being able to step into civilization can help you remember things that you may have forgotten. Just try to soak everything in. If you don’t want to or can’t, don’t force the words out of you. Always bring a notepad with you, everywhere you go. If you don’t have one or can’t find it, take out your phone and use your notes app to just jot down a little thought or two. Rearrange your room, clean your room, make things around you feel different. It all depends on who you are as a person to inspire something inside of you.

I hope all goes well, love.

Someone once told me

that I shouldn’t fall in love

with anyone who tells me

that I am beautiful, or says

that I am everything that

they have been looking for.

But you didn’t have to

give me tipsy compliments

or make me feel as if

I was who you’ve been

searching for, for me to

fall in love with you.

I did that on my own

when my gaze met yours

for the very first time.

She’s never needed anyone
to feel at ease with herself.
She’s never needed reassurance
from anyone...

She’s never needed anyone

to feel at ease with herself.

She’s never needed reassurance

from anyone but herself

to know her own self worth.

She’s who I’ve dreamed

of becoming since I became

conscious of how important

it really is to love who you see

when you look into the mirror.
