Menace by Laramie Briscoe

Title: MenaceA Moonshine Task Force Series NovelAuthor: Laramie BriscoeGenre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 9, 2018

Blurb
Mason “Menace” Harrison

“Single and ready to mingle……”

Those are the words above every picture of almost every female that strikes my interest on this dating app my son talked me into getting. After being a single dad for seventeen years, I’m ready to spread my wings, just not with most of the co-eds who keep hitting on me and calling me daddy.

Now that Caleb’s in his Senior year of high school, I feel like I can let go of the iron-clad control I’ve had on myself without his Mom in our lives. I’ve enjoyed raising him, love the relationship we have, and while he went off the rails for a bit last year, we’re closer than we’ve ever been. He’s got a full ride to the University of Alabama, and I’ve settled into my spot with the Moonshine Task Force.

But my son doesn’t warm my bed, he isn’t someone I can share my dreams with, and he’s not the person I want to grow old with by my side. I’m not sure who that is yet, but the smokin’ hot lady going by the name BeachBum83 definitely has every single bit of my interest.

Karina Holland

“Looking for a good time, maybe more…..”

Those were the lamest words I ever typed in my life, but it was the best I had for the dating app my friend, Violet talked me into joining. I didn’t have any high hopes for myself. As a High School English teacher, I’m sick of pervy Dad’s hitting on me when they come in to discuss their child’s lack of motivation to read the classics and apply themselves.

Until the day Mason Harrison walks into my classroom. I had no idea Caleb’s Dad was the man I met off that dating app who showed me how flexible I really am in the back of his Jeep. Within minutes of the parent/teacher conference he proved the sparks weren’t one-time only when we christened my desk.

Mason and Caleb? They touch a part of my heart that no one’s ever touched before, and when a threat from the past shows up, I prove just how tough I really am.

GRAY'S PROMISE A King Security Novel, Book 2 by Anni Fife

GRAY'S PROMISEA King Security Novel, Book 2
by Anni FifeGenre: Steamy Romantic Suspense
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press

Zoey Morgan seems to have it all as a successful surgeon in Boston. However, perfection lies only on the surface. Plagued by nightmares and amnesia from a tragedy that ripped her family from her fourteen years ago, she finds the courage to reach out to the only man who can make her feel safe. She’s buried the memory of their love, but her heart—and her body—responds to the ex-marine in ways that are all too familiar.

Grayson “Gray” Walker’s heart shattered when Zoey chose another man over him. Since then, he’s built an impenetrable wall around his emotions. But from the moment she implodes back into his life, her vulnerability breaches his defenses. His skills as an elite member of the King Security team cannot shield him from the devastation of learning he might have left Zoey high and dry when she needed him most. Now, Gray must navigate the tripwire of helping her heal while protecting himself from being hurt again.

As the embers of their potent love reignite, an old threat awakens, leading to greater danger than ever before.

A jealousy that destroys everything in its path…a love that refuses to die.
Gray’s nostrils flared. “You got an itch, Zoey?”

Awareness flushed through me. “And if I did?” His smoky-blue eyes dropped to my mouth. Like he flicked a switch I licked my lips.

“Christ!” His whispered curse made my stomach tighten into a hard ball, but I met his scowl and blinked innocently. He shook his head, his gaze mocking. “I’m not the person to tap, sweet-thing, if all you want to do is scratch.”

I felt my face flush. “I’m not a kitty cat, buddy!”

His brows shot up. “Did you just call me buddy?”

I clamped my lips together. Disbelief was frozen on his face. I returned his stare bug-eyed. My body started to shake. I swallowed but as hard as I tried, the laughter gathered.

“Zoey!” he growled.

Uncontrolled giggles burst from me. “S-sorry.” I held up a hand. “So sorry.” I spluttered again and bent over double, giggles turning into snorting laughter.

“Fuck. Now I know what Luke means by Katya being a pain in his ass.”

I hugged my aching stomach and squinted at him. “Jeez, tough guy, what’s with you and asses?”

He glared at me. “You need yours spanked.”

“Is that a promise?” I was aiming for blasé but my wheezing snort ruined the effect.

Gray stood and grabbed my hand, tugging me to my feet. “Let’s get out of here. This isn’t the place for this conversation.”

“What?” I giggled. “A spanking conversation.” The idea of Gray reddening my butt made me clench it. Yikes!

“No, sweet-thing.” He swung his arm around my shoulders and whispered in my ear. “A conversation about your itch. That conversation.”

“Oh!” My breath quickened. And my laughing fit instantly died.

Lordy.

It was hot in here.

THE BIG THREE! featuring ANNI FIFE and GRAY’S PROMISE

Anni’s BIG THREE of Why It’s Good To Be Alive

ONE - 5-STAR REVIEWS

For an author, reviews are our lifeblood. They are the reward that make agonizing hours at our keyboards worth the tears and time sacrificed with loved ones. They are also vital to increase readership, as readers rarely buy a new author if their book is missing good reviews. Gray’s Promise has hit the ground running with a slew of 5-star reviews from bloggers and verified Amazon readers, many of whom have said that it is one of their favorite reads of 2017. N.N. Light, author and Amazon Influencer, humbled me by saying this in her review: “In a nutshell, the best book I’ve ever read. Hands down.” Now that makes me cry…and feel good to be alive!

TWO – LIVING THE DREAM!

When I shut the door on my life in the city, including a successful career in TV Production, I had a dream of what I wanted my life to be like: live in a small town where my neighbors knew my name, walk the beach every day, make friends with people who actually cared about me, and WRITE! In December, after I published my second novel, Gray’s Promise, and celebrated the festive season at my small beach home with my family and friends, I realized I’m living the dream. And how fantastic is that!

THREE – A CONTRACT IN HAND!

Starting the year with a publishing contract in hand for my third book, Eva’s Peace, definitely makes it good to be alive. This is the story of mysterious and emotionally contained Scarlett Eva Young, King Security’s profiler and half-sister to Thayne “King” Kingsley. Her awesome alpha hottie is LAPD Detective, Tom Payne. I’m aiming to bring their heart-wrenching story to you by Fall this year.

Zoey's BIG THREE of What She Loves About Gray (with extracts from Gray’s Promise!)

ONE – GRAY IS ZOEY’S SUN

For as long as Zoey can remember, going back to when she was eight years old, Gray was the light that shined brightest in her life. In her words, “Even on my darkest days, he’s my sun.” When pushed to give one reason why this is so, Zoey reveals that it is Gray’s innate understanding and unconditional acceptance of all that she is…and isn’t, that makes her love him to the bottom of her soul.

TWO – HIS PORN STAR MOUTH

When Gray is in her vicinity, Zoey finds it a challenge to take her eyes off his mouth. It’s like a magnet to her senses. “His mouth was one of the thousand things I loved about him. His upper lip a perfect cupid’s bow. His lower one, full and sensual with a marked indent. I used to tease him that he had the mouth of a porn star. And he did. God! The indescribable pleasure—“ Okay! Stopping now…

THREE – HIS HONOR AND PROTECTIVE SPIRIT

When Zoey’s sanity is threatened by panic attacks, and fragmented memories haunt her waking hours, she finds her way back to Gray. Their shattered love story, past hurts and betrayals, cannot obliterate her faith in his innate honor and protective spirit. He is the beacon in her darkness, her sun, and her safe zone. Zoey reveals this at the end of the story when she tells Gray why she loves him: “I love your honor and your unflinching loyalty to those you call family…I love your need to protect me, to protect others.”

Gray’s BIG THREE of What He Loves About Zoey (with extracts from Gray’s Promise!)

ONE – SHE’S THE ANCHOR TO HIS SOUL

Gray’s connection to Zoey is instantaneous from the moment they meet as children. As their relationship moves from childhood best friends to young love, she becomes his anchor in the face of an emotional tornado, his touchstone as he endures the worst of betrayals. When tragedy strikes and they are torn apart, Gray feels cut adrift. Years later, when Zoey comes to him for help, Gray is confronted with the undeniable truth: Zoey is the anchor to his soul. “Thousands of tensile steel threads bound them together. Over time, they might have been stretched to their limit but they had not broken. It was like she was burned into his DNA. And when Zoey hurt, Gray felt the same hurt deep inside himself.”

TWO – HER FUNNY BONE

Zoey has a wicked sense of humor. Gray loves this because even when he’s mad at her, she has the ability to cut through his temper in such an unexpected manner, he can’t help being seduced into laughter.

THREE – HER BEGUILING JADE-GREEN CAT EYES

Since Zoey blossomed into a woman, Gray has been captivated by her.

“His beautiful red butterfly. Mercurial and brilliant. Her dark-copper hair alight with so many fiery streaks, he was constantly amazed it didn’t singe his skin. The curly length was unexpectedly soft, so goddamn sexy when it slipped like satin through his fingers. But as much as he loved her hair, it was her eyes that endlessly beguiled him. Tapered like a cat, they were vivid-green with a golden ring around her pupil. A fascinating combination of sex-kitten and innocent, and such an integral part of her expressive nature. There were times he thought they were too large for her heart-shaped face, but then she’d laugh and they’d turn that intense jewel-like green. Wicked. Infectious. Or she’d whimper with desire, and the golden ring would leak into the green. Hot and slumberous. Untamed.”

Blurb
No O? Come and meet your cure.
He’s gorgeous, dominant, panty-meltingly hot, and looks at me like he wants to tear my clothes off and fulfill every single filthy fantasy I’ve ever had.
The only problem? He’s my doctor. Oops.
I’m seeing him to fix “my problem” – my big “no O” problem. Yeah, you see, I’ve never had one – no grand finale, no big bang, no happy ending.
Never.
Doctor Aiden Owenson – “Doctor O” – is supposedly the man who can help, but I’ve got my reservations.
That is, until he puts his hands on me. Until he looks at me like he wants to devour me. Until he tells me I’m his, and his alone.
I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to fall for your doctor.
I’m pretty sure your doctor isn’t supposed to examine you in his bed, across his desk, and while you’re screaming his name.
I’m pretty sure we’re breaking every rule, and I’m pretty sure I don’t care.
Doctor O is supposed to show me the O. Now the only problem is, I never want him to stop.

Warning: side effects may include fever, elevated heart rate, sweating, and chronic page-turning far past your bed time. Steaming hot insta-love, an over-the-top dominant alpha hero, and fantasy run completely amok. But something tells me, you know exactly what this dirty little book is about ;).
Safe, no cheating, and a HEA guaranteed.

A PINOT FOR YOUR THOUGHTS Love In The Wine Country by Pamela Gibson

A PINOT FOR YOUR THOUGHTSLove In The Wine Country
by Pamela GibsonGenre: Contemporary Romance

Can she trust a man who broke her heart?

Spunky Beth Sawyer is determined to save a debt-ridden historic house she inherited from her grandmother. The Victorian mansion might be spared foreclosure if she can get a handful of cranky boarders out in time to open a bed and breakfast. Instead they’ve declared war and enlisted the aid of a man who still holds a piece of her heart.

After a dangerous assignment nearly takes his life, investigative reporter Aiden Reynoso limps home to Santa Marta to recover and rethink his career. He craves peace. Instead he finds chaos and a sexy new landlady, one he reluctantly left years ago after a brief fling.

The cliff-side mansion guards its secrets well, and so does Beth. Her beloved grandmother had an obsession. If revealed, it will ruin her reputation in a town that revere’s her memory. But the clock is ticking and Beth needs an ally. Can she trust a man who once broke her heart or is she destined to fight alone while her dreams turn as sour as spoiled wine.

She batted her eyelashes for effect, even though she knew she didn’t have an ounce of makeup on, and her hair was a twisted tangle on top of her head. Her shorts were the cutoffs she’d put on this morning, and her tank top had shrunk in the wash. It was old, just like most of her wardrobe, but power washing wasn’t a fashion event.

He came down the steps, towering above her. The cat stayed behind. “What is that thing?” He pointed at the washer.

“It’s a power washer. I’m cleaning stairs, then I’m going to stain them.”

“Yourself?”

She glared. “Of course. Unless your cat wants to help.”

Aiden looked at the cat, who’d come out on the landing, twitching his tail.

“He’s busy. But if you show me what to do, I’m available.”

That was unexpected.

“This isn’t going to take long, and then I’ll move to the back steps of the house. You can get on with your concentration.”

“Fine.”

He turned around and took the steps two at a time. She kept focus on his tight butt, wondering why he was still living in Santa Marta. Oh, right...now she remembered. His grandmother, the psychic, convinced him to go off on his own, to spend some time at the beach. A seagull had snatched a rosebud out of her hand, and she knew, she knew someone at Rose Manor needed him.

She got that part right.

She’d needed him desperately that first summer after her parents died, when she realized she’d never see them again. Her grief had taken strange turns, and one led her right into Aiden’s arms.

And I’m kidding myself if I think the attraction is dead.

The minute she saw Aiden Reynoso on her doorstep this morning, the old longing reared up and nearly swallowed her. She’d wanted to fling herself into his arms and sob her heart out. But with all the problems she faced, she couldn’t risk another rejection.

He was still hot, his hair the color of midnight, and dark chocolate eyes that saw right into your soul. With that toned body, he looked like he belonged in a commercial for Greek yogurt. Even the black-frame reading glasses he had on when he bolted down the stairs worked.

He’s not for you. He made that loud and clear years ago.

Beth could handle the other tenants. They seemed docile and sweet, and she was actively looking for a place to relocate them. But Aiden was a problem. Not only was he bad for her libido, he was the one she couldn’t get rid of legally. And if she didn’t get this house turned into a moneymaker fast, she was going to lose it to the bank.

Excerpt
As I approach the edge of the winding river less than a minute’s walk from my cottage, it’s like someone has injected me with life. With a lift of my chin, I close my eyes and inhale until I’m no longer dulled and disoriented. Everything becomes clear. In Balsam Grove, I breathe the air with new lungs, feel the breeze with new skin, and see the land through new eyes.
I don’t try to navigate my way. I hike beside the river, around every curve and bend, uphill and against the current. It’s a familiar path, but my focus isn’t on the destination. Every now and then I stop to take a drink from the stream, pluck a fiery pink flower, and tune into a wild animal scampering across fallen leaves. But it’s not until I reach a steeper incline that I take a moment to assess where I’m headed.
The river has significantly increased in speed since I began walking a few minutes ago. A steeper incline forces me to distance myself from the water’s edge, onto a more manageable path through the woods. My thighs burn from the steady climb, and my throat aches from dehydration. I never planned to journey this far, but I could have at least thought to bring water. I’m ready to turn back, find the river, and drink from it when I spot the top of a familiar red house peeking over the hill. Hummingbirds unleash in my chest as I inch forward.
Mere seconds later, I’m standing on flat land again, taking in the two-story home that overlooks a waterfall, an old millhouse beside it. It’s like it came out of nowhere, but this house—it’s home to some of my best memories, my biggest dreams, and the beginning of the horrible nightmare that ended life as I knew it.
“Ah, that’s my girl,” a voice booms in the distance. “Bring it here, Lacey.”
Shit. Jaxon?
My eyes sweep left, to the source of the river. Two waterfalls coming from different directions spill into one body of water where Jaxon treads. He’s patting the water as Lacey paddles over with a stick in her mouth.
Jaxon takes the stick, then rubs her head before she continues paddling to the edge of the river. After she climbs out and does a full body shake to dry off, he tosses the stick to the side and turns back to the water, swimming lap after lap until I’ve lost count. Every powerful stroke reveals inches of well-cut muscle and betrays his familiarity with the water.
Jaxon always loved everything about the water. Diving, swimming, fishing…sex. I shiver at the memory of how well our slick bodies fit together. Of his delicate fingers stripping me of my bikini top so he could see all of me as he inched his way into my body, my heart. Of his hot mouth wrapping around my pebbled nipple just to hear my whispered cry. Of the way he watched me with hooded eyes as I came for him, my back pressed against a boulder and the plunging falls above us swallowing my cries.
He took everything good from me, but it was me that handed it over for the taking.
He’s still mesmerizing, and I can’t take my eyes off him now. With every stroke, I imagine him swimming away from me, away from our past and deeper into the rushing swell of the stream. How long has he been swimming? How far?
I swallow my anxiety as he finally breaks from his exercise to catch his breath. When he does, I’m as breathless as he is.
I’m not sure how long I’ve been staring when he uses the slick rocks to pull himself from the water, but I’m completely captivated by the droplets coursing down his naked back and arms. He’s all strength and agility, effortlessly pulling himself to his feet. I should turn away, but I don’t. Instead, I watch as water glides from his long hair, down his narrow waist, and then over the most beautiful ass I’ve ever seen.
Is he…?
I gasp, my hand clapping over my mouth. But it’s too late. One slip of my breath is all it takes for Lacey’s snout to jerk in my direction and sound off the first menacing growl.

Excerpt
Okay, there was a cop out there and not all cops were bad. That was rational. She wasn’t a kid again, in a patrol car paralyzed by terror. Dread gripped her at the realization that, as much as she hated the idea, she would have to trust this cop.

“I repeat, this is the police. Come out with your hands up.”
Bracing herself, she tried to speak but a dry throat made her voice inaudible. A convulsive swallow, and she tried again. “I’m coming out.”
Cautious, she eased into the doorway. She pushed open the screen, grip tight on the heavy flashlight, then hesitated, blinded by the powerful beam of his light.
He stood in front of the porch, a shadow darker than the rest. “Stop. Lower your flashlight to the floor.”
Emma ordered herself not to freak out. Crouching, she reluctantly set down her only possible weapon. “This is my place. I can be here.” Even to her own ears, her voice sounded tight with dread.
“We’ll figure that out.” When she’d risen again, he continued, “Put your hands behind your head and come down the steps.”
Emma raised her arms, linking her fingers behind her head. Slowly she moved forward. That voice kept whispering in the back of her mind. He could be a rogue cop. He could rape and kill her, bury her body out in the woods somewhere and no one would even know she was gone. If he made one wrong move, she’d take her chances and run. Poised for flight, she couldn’t keep a hard shiver from wracking her body.
“What’s your name?”
His voice had a low timbre that was somehow calming. They probably taught the technique in cop school. She tried to see beyond the blinding light but couldn’t make out his features. “My name is Emma, and this is my property.” She paused. “Can I put my hands down?”
She’d never felt more vulnerable in her life when the cop ignored her question and moved behind her. She tensed as he gripped her wrists with one warm hand and conducted a quick pat down with the other. “Is there anyone with you?”
Her heart beating so hard it was a wonder she didn’t pass out. Emma conducted a fast internal debate on whether to admit there was no one else, but realized she had no choice. She was alone. “It’s just me.”
The unyielding presence behind her made her hyperaware. The creak of the leather cop belt, the hiss of his radio, even the scuff of his boots on gravel brought back frightening flashes of memory that served to reinforce that she was at his mercy. And that this could go very, very badly for her. To the depths of her soul, Emma hated feeling so vulnerable.
He released her clasped hands and moved to stand in front of her. Angling the flashlight so it wasn’t shining directly in her face, he stood back, watchful. A stillness settled over him. He stared at her, making her aware of the pull of his gaze. After a long, arrested moment he appeared to gather himself.
“You can lower your hands now. Sit down on the steps.” He pulled the radio off his belt, low voice reporting his location and situation, then strode back to his vehicle to open the rear door.
Sinking onto the porch steps, Emma watched as he leaned inside to retrieve something, then moved to the driver’s door to reach in and flip off the headlights. His radio buzzed and he paused to respond. He had the sure, economical movements of a supremely self-confident man.
The dome light of the SUV lit him from the side, showing a strong profile. His eyes were on her but he was a good thirty feet away. He responded to the radio and took his gaze off her to lean farther into the vehicle.
Watching him warily, Emma thought briefly, insanely, of running. She could do it. Just slip into the darkness and find safety in the trees. But that would be madness. So far he’d done nothing threatening, other than being a cop, and, more importantly, she hadn’t done anything wrong. But having the legal right to be here sure didn’t make her feel any safer.
“Don’t even think about it.”
Emma startled, looking up to find him staring at her across the distance. Great, the cop was a mind reader.
