One Year of A To Z Poetry Re-release

Hello Poetteers,

Another short post is coming your way! A year ago today was the re-release of A TO Z POETRY!

I would love to do something to celebrate it. Just like we did with Her Olives, take a picture of yourself reading A to Z Poetry and submit it to me to be part of the celebratory collage through #FidaPoetry

If I could have it by March 13, that would be great!

Thank you and love, Fida

Writing Update

Hello Poetteers,

Remember my WIP I've mentioned on Wednesday? At 20k I have decided to put it aside for writing and personal reasons.

Happy Friday!

LoveAThon Poetry

Hello Poetteers,

Here is where I feel comfortable. This is my favorite part. Book spine poetry.

From Beirut to Jerusalem

A book thief
a kite runner
spending mornings in Jenin

Her olives
sought the wind.

---

Does my head look big in this
a veil of roses?
Keeping faith
say what you will.

LoveAThon Introduction

Hello Poetteers,

(made up by me to mean poetry lovers, just so the new readers know)

My name is Fida. I'm from the snowy Midwest. I started blogging at the end of 2008 after discovering it the same year after being a guest blogger in a blog that is no longer running. I had shared my poetry and loved it. They convinced me to make my own blog.

My blog name has changed a bit. I started of with it being The Poetry Korner, now it's Hugs & Kisses of Poetry. Sidenote: it's also the title of my third poetry collection.

I'm not exactly a book blogger than I am a poetry blogger but when I do review books it's either contemp or historical YA.

Besides poetry and reviews I participate in the weekly What's Up Wednesday memes.

I think the discovery of indie authors and the research that followed for me to fall into being part of the indie community.

I enjoy the friendships!

I'm looking forward to:
An Ember in the Ashes,
A Court of Thorns and Roses,
Queen of Shadows,
Winter,
Written in the Stars.

Everyone should read: Mornings in Jenin.

Besides books I love shopping for
stationary!

Love, Fida

What's Up Wed: Her Olives Anniversary

Hello Poetteers,

I finally got my hands on and read the first volume of Ms. Marvel, No Normal. I don't really read comics but it was cool to read of a muslim character. It wasn't just a side characteristic. It was a big part of what she did, what she is doing, and what she wants to do, etc. I can't wait to read the other comics about her.

My WIP is taking it slow. I'm still on 17k and my goal is still 20k by the end of this week.

Other than that, a year ago today I self published my second poetry collection, HER OLIVES!

Thanks to Tessa for the picture submission!

Love, Fida

Monday Blessings: I'm Alive

Hello readers,

*A little over two years ago I wrote a poem with the same title, I'm Alive for the people in other countries. Today I write one for the people in my own country.

I'm grateful that I'm alive
while my brother and sisters
are dying,
getting killed
not just in other countries
but in my own country

I am their voice
as I am my voice
I will stand up for them

As we ask to not just be heard
but to be listened to
As we ask for a better life
a more protected life

I am not afraid
through my fear
I will smile and scream
I will make a change.

Love, Fida

Don't forget to check out my other poems here: #Poetteers
