I’m almost ashamed that Jane Eyre is still on my To Be Finished list. I’m halfway through and have been for about four years lol. But I like this quote. On the whole, with a brand new year right in front of us, I guess I’m proud that I ‘had courage to go forth into its expanse…’ The writing world is huge, enormous, larger than I even imagined. Getting an audience is tough, but I hope, the people who have read the Naughty Nookie series, I’ve left you gagging for more!

Last night, I revealed the next part of Marina’s story, Just A Woman, but let’s not forget about A Bitch In Time! Or the woman behind it all.
Marina is as different to Mona as night is day. And that’s why I love her. Two different women yet so close, like sisters. Marina’s life isn’t an easy one but that’s of her own making. A reviewer has said that Marina isn’t as easy to like as Mona and I get that. Marina, as my creation, isn’t supposed to be easy to like. She’s different, unusual. Her rules aren’t like the rest of the world’s. She’s a rebel without a cause. Kinda bratty but still, capable of being loved by someone like Mona. Of having a man like Nate Conroy. Marina is proof positive that you have to dig deep to understand the gem you’ve found so you can eventually appreciate it.
Marina has never taken the easy road. Why should she, when she prefers a storm to a perfect summer’s day? But even for her, Marina’s life is in a mess and she knows it.
Too many wrong decisions have put her life in danger and the only way to safety is to embrace the past. But Marina moves forward, steam-rolling ahead rather than focusing on the mistakes she’s made; the mistakes that have brought her to this point. And while she is happy with her head buried in the sand, Nathan Conroy won’t let her.
He loved her once, could love her again, but for her safety, even if it causes her to hate him, he’ll do anything to protect her from the mess she’s in.
From big city living to a huge ranch in the middle of nowhere, Marina’s safety comes at a price. But to her the physical danger is no less frightening than the peril to her heart.
Can she rewind ten years to right the wrongs she once made? And even though the future depends on it, can she unbend enough to do just that?

Guest Interview with DENISE ALICEA!

So Denise Alicea joins me today and she put pen to paper, or fingers to the keyboard, when I asked her a few questions about her writing career!
So, Denise, is being a writer everything you dreamed it would be? For the better or worse?
Not really. (Laughs). I love writing and sharing my work with others. I have made great friends along the way. Writing is hard and it takes time. It can be a great endeavor and a horrible one.
What made you put pen to paper that very first time and what story was it? Have you gone on to publish it?
Psyche is the first thing that I wrote and wanted to publish. I haven’t published it yet as I’m working on it.
How do you manage your writing with self-promotion?
It’s hard, but you always have to make time to promote your work otherwise it was just published for yourself as the author. As a writer, I always try to share my work with others.
This current story, what made you write it?
I had a love of always writing one of those what ifs. Consoling Angel is one of those romantic what ifs. What if you could back in time and save someone you admired or even loved? Would you do even if it meant changing history?
Why James Dean? Is he an idol of yours?
I’m a huge James Dean fan because of who he was as a person and an actor. He’s enigmatic, handsome, and he knew what he wanted out of life. Although in some regards his life was complicated and hard even with his own father and career. He passed all those obstacles and became an amazing actor and icon that lives on even after his death.
Denise is offering two lucky readers a free copy of Consoling Angel, a giveaway you can enter here:
BLURB:
Mira did not know what she had in store the day she fell asleep while wanting to escape her current situation. Overcoming a death from someone so close and burying herself in school and an internship has kept her somewhat awake and alive. An admiration for the actor, James Dean was all that kept the memory of her father alive. If she couldn’t be with her father, she could at least remember what they shared an admiration for together. She always wanted to meet James Dean… she didn’t know it would come true. Be careful what you wish for. It may just come true.
EXCERPT FROM CONSOLING ANGEL:
My life couldn’t be more complete. As we reached the apartments, I slowly got off the bike, surprised
at myself that I had done this. Ordinarily, I’d never get on a motorcycle. James leaned over and
caressed my cheek. Before I could open my mouth to tell him what was to happen to him, he gave
me a quick peck on the lips. I couldn’t let James walk away, not now.
Something in me grasped his wrist; my breath caught in my throat. I no longer cared about the
rain. I must have looked like a drowned rat to him. “I have to tell you something,” I blurted as I waited
for his reaction.
James smiled, then chuckled as he caressed my face. The rain was preventing me from
seeing clearly. “Sweetheart, it’s raining and you’re soaked. I hope this is important.” Pulling him
toward me, I faced him. I could change history. I could have him live out his life as he was meant to. If
I couldn’t save my father, I could save him.
“In the future, when you become famous, please be careful. Remember this: there will be a
day that you are off to a race. You will not see a car until it’s too late. James, please promise me. It
could mean your life.” I must have sounded like a complete and total idiot to him. Geez! I think I
watched Back To The Future too many times. I sounded like Marty talking to the professor about his
impending death.
Chuckling, he shook his head, expelling the rain off his head and onto me. Laughter erupted
between us as I covered my face. He then cupped my face, kissed my forehead. “Are you sure you’re
not an angel? I cannot promise anything, but baby, I can promise I’ll see you tomorrow. I’ll pick you up
here and you can ditch your responsibilities. Ride with me.”
Sighing, now I knew how all those girls felt when they looked at him. What an offer that would
be. Ditch school to ride with the man who was loved by so many. I was determined he’d listen to me.
Gripping his hands from my face, I gazed into his eyes. “I’m serious!”
Before I could utter another word, his lips descended on mine. My body went toward him and
melted. I couldn’t help but respond as I brought him closer. I was lost in his warm lips as they
caressed mine. Lingering near my lips, he breathed, “I know you are.” Then, winking as he kissed me
again, smiling that beautiful smile of his, “How else can my angel guard me if she isn’t with me?”
ABOUT DENISE ALICEA:
Born to the great lively city of Manhattan, NY, and raised in quiet Connecticut. Denise started writing when drawing and painting were not enough. Deciding to try a new type of medium, she thought to start with poetry. After her first success and first reading at the age of fifteen. Her writing began to take on new life with her own worlds of fantasy, time travel, action, adventure and of course romance. She draws inspiration from her favorite childhood cartoons and experiences to her current day ones.
When not writing, Denise loves technology, reading (romance, YA, anime, nonfiction, fiction), blogging, watching movies and TV shows and of course volunteering for many RWA chapters. She also enjoys blogging at her personal blog and book review blog at The Pen & Muse.

Part four of Mona’s tale, Can Be Gold, is the culmination but no way near the ending of Simone Barranquet’s crazy tumble into love. Not only is there the free Xmassy read available on my website (Deck The Halls With Handsome Hunks), I also have some plans up my sleeves for future stories involving Mona and her suitors!
Check out Can Be Gold to complete the current story of Mona’s whacky but hell-yeah-hot love life! :D Enjoy!
The Simone of old no longer exists. She’s transmogrified into a woman with whom she can’t reconcile but who she must eventually come to accept. This new Mona is stronger, sexier and with an innate power that she’s only just coming to understand.
For Zane, she’s put her very soul on the line. She has dragged herself to the outer limits of her principles and has entered uncharted territory. All for the man who helped form this new creature that calls herself Simone Barranquet.
But was it worth it? Is he worthy of her sacrifice?
And what of Jake? Is he manipulating her or does he really share the same aspirations?
When two enemies unite and become allies, the man at the center of the battle is key.
But will Zane concur? Is he strong enough to accept them both, to have what he’s never known he’s always wanted?

COVER REVEAL: JUST A WOMAN!
So, the time has come to reveal the cover for Just A Woman, the second part of Marina’s Naughty Nookie tale.
I’m currently in the throes of writing this book, but it will be ready for release mid-to-late January. I’m sticking to my one book a month release vow. :)
Just A Woman has taken me down a path I hadn’t intended to take, but when your characters speak to you, you have to listen and Marina and Nate have been yelling in my ears ever since I started plotting their story. I wanted to go one way, but they’re demanding to go another and what sort of creator would I be if I didn’t listen?
Just A Woman is turning out to be a learning curve for both Marina and myself… in just what way, you’ll have to read to find out! ;)
Here’s the blurb:
Guilt is no stranger to Marina Denison, but that doesn’t mean it sits well on her shoulders.
Wherever she goes, whatever she does, death shadows her, tails her and those who surround her. She has to break the pattern, break free from the vicious cycle her life has become and the answers lie in the Blue Ridge Ranch back in Montana. Her home.
There, she must face her past, accept her present and all so that she can finally enjoy her future.
But is she strong enough to confront the years that formed her into the woman she is today?
Find out in Just a Woman…
I’m really excited about this story and the role Nate’s about to play in Marina’s life. Eek! Can’t wait to ship it off to my beta-readers! :)
