Montana woman
fends off bear attack
with zucchini
According to this news story, an unnamed woman saw a black bear attack her dog. Trying to separate the animals, the bear bit her on the leg. And what happened next is the stuff of legends:

The woman reached for the nearest object at hand on the porch's railing — a large zucchini that she had harvested from her garden.
The woman flung the vegetable at the bear, striking it and forcing it to flee.

Those Ingenious Italians

What do you do if hardly any fans show up for your soccer matches? Create your OWN fans!

That's what the owners of the soccer team in Trieste did. And I'm going to start doing something similar at my author presentations. It'll be a packed house every time! (Story here.)

Got a Necktie? Take a Nap!

How many times have you felt drowsy while working at your computer? Imagine how lovely it would be to just inflate your necktie and rest your weary head on it!

That's the thinking behind the new Pillow Tie. With its space age design, you can blow up your tie in seconds...and rest for hours!

WARNING: The Pillow Tie can only support heads weighing 25 pounds or less.

Gliding in for a Landing

The pilot of this glider (Mike Newman) decided to take it in for a steeper landing than is usually the case. Amazingly, he was okay!

Music Transports Soul, Leaving Body Uninhabited

I've fainted a few times, usually during author presentations. But I've never had the privilege of doing a zombie walk as awesome as this young man!

And yes, despite having his hands in his pockets, he was apparently fine!

Guitar Face: Patent Pending

I was reading an article about patents. But it wasn't boring! In fact, it had an illustration from the patent that guitarist that Eddie Van Halen took out for a musical instrument support that he invented. And just look at that line-drawing's intense expression!

It's a Segway for Ninjas!

Actually, this is a motorised skateboard for assassins. No, it's a ride-on tank for commandos! Whatever. I must have it.
