In a neighborhood birdbath.

Coopers Hawk in neighborhood birdbath. by Bart King

While out for a walk, I spied this hawk hanging out on a neighbor's birdbath. I could practically read his mind:
"Why do the other birds give me the cold feathery shoulder? Here I make a goodwill gesture by hanging out at the local pool, but the jays and thrushes are TOO GOOD for me? They'll pay. They'll ALL pay."

"Transfer Accelerators" are enjoyable!

In the Dutch city of Utrecht, there is something that engineers call a transfer accelerator that allows rail riders to get to their connections more quickly.

Do you dare to learn more?

At first I thought that THIS book —Be Bold With Bananas— was the most daring thing I could read this week.

But it turns out I was wrong. Look!

There's ADVANTAGES?

You know, I think I'll put this volume back on the shelf, thanks!

"Reading is an adventure! Zzzzzz...."

The first step to putting together an interesting book is having a snappy title. (Like Cute! A Guide to All Things Adorable .)

Over at Bookride, they've assembled a few books that seem to have missed that important step.

Like these!

Pictured: Understand Your Tortoise; Beyond a Joke: The Limits of Humour; The History and Social Influence of the Potato; and Something New in Sandwiches.

Romance novels are enjoyable!

The Legend of the Totally Lost Mountie? I would read that!

This is from a genius named Longmire, who adapts book covers and gives them a twist.

Visit his site to see more of his hilarious riffs on romance cover cliches.
