Do you see what this is?

Think about it . . . give it a moment . . . Yep, it's a Think Tank! Nice work, Jason Freeny.

Now THAT'S a big book.

Bregenz is a town in Austria that hosts a festival each year called the Bregenz Festival. Go figure!

Some of the entertainment at the fest is performed on a floating stage in Lake Constance. Audiences of up to 7,000 can watch operas there, and the sets on the stage are really amazing . . . like the one above! (Telegraph article on the festival here.)

I wonder...

I sometimes wonder if there's a special place where people can get titles like The Big Book of Girl Stuff, The Big Book of Gross Stuff, The Big Book of Boy Stuff, and The Big Book of Spy Stuff.

Wait— I think there is!

From here.

There's more to life than books, you know. (But not much more!)

There is just a LITTLE more to life than books.

For example, I've been doing a little searching, and I can't seem to find a book that explains the ancient marvel that is...

FOAMHENGE!

Foamhenge is exactly like Stonehenge, except it's in Virginia (not England). And it's made of styrofoam, not stone. And it was constructed by a guy named Mark Cline, not ancient druids.

Other than that, it's pretty much the same!

T-shirt from here,Foamhenge from Atlas Obscura.

"The Dark Knight of the Soul"?

You know, I think that people MIGHT be getting just a little carried away with this Batman thing.

Batman and Philosophy indeed!

In other news, I unearthed another cool Astounding Science Fiction cover (by Hubert Rogers)!

Robot Remorse

Astounding Science Fiction (Oct. 1953) by Bart King
"Oops!"
I've been going through some old boxes, and today I discovered a treasure. This cover of Astounding Science Fiction (from 1953) by Frank Kelly Freas became a science-fiction classic. Freas would later bring the robot back in a new version for the rock group Queen's News of the World album in 1977. Pret-ty cool!

Bookstore Proposal

A guy named Frank proposed to his girlfriend, Margaret, at Omnivore Books in San Francisco the other day.

Rumor has it that the only reason she said yes was because:

1.) Frank's a good guy.

2.) He hid his proposal in an advance copy of Cute! A Guide to All Things Adorable.
My guess is that it was just the former.

Either way, the story has a happy ending!

This young man can sing.

Pick it up at 0:48. (And if you're looking for inspiration, head down to your local guitar ship!)
