The Elephant in the Room * Podcast Episode

Hello and welcome to Point of Departure. My name is Michele Jennae with Old Soul Archaeology. Today’s topic is the Elephant in the Room, and we’ll expand on that idea with the parable The Blind Men and the Elephant. Today, the elephant in the room is Spirituality and inclusive topics.

In this short, but power-packed podcast episode, I unpack the Elephant in the Room with the help of the Indian (Hindu) parable The Blind Men and the Elephant. What I refer to as The Elephant in the Room is the topi...

The Power of the Personal Oracle * Podcast Episode

In this episode of Point of Departure, I talk about how an oracle isn’t just a thing, it’s a system for communicating with the Divine, and the best part, if incredible, is that YOU are the oracle. Everyone has the capacity to tune in their oracular system to receive messages from the Higher Self or if you’d rather say it this way… from the Divine.

It’s an Inside Job for an Outsider

You’ll always be an outsider.

These were the words that rang in my ears after my husband told me about a conversation he’d just had with a neighbor. You see, we moved to rural Arkansas, leaving California just over a year ago and settling into our new home just 9 months ago. This was my hubby’s first encounter with this neighbor.

He seemed nice enough according to my husband, so I guess he was just being matter of fact. “People will treat you nice, but you’ll always be an outsider.”

The words ra...

Announcing the Old Soul Archaeology Podcast

Hello Old Souls,

Wow, I did it. I launched! I can hardly believe it. I mean, I used to do a live radio show and some podcasting but it’s been a long time. And I have to tell you, I’ve had some anxiety around doing this podcast thing, you know…putting my voice out there.

It’s funny, while we are using other people’s voices, and other people’s masks, it can still be nerve-wracking but seems easier to put it all out there because we have this perceived layer of protection. Once it’s the raw, real v...

With An Open Hand

Taking Issue

I am no zen master. No bodhissatva. Not even an enlightened being although I’d like to think I am moving in that direction instead of the other.

And here I am about to expound upon and AHEM “take issue” with the words of a zen priest with far more experience in the fine art of enlightenment than I.

Still, as one of the little people, I feel like I have to make this relatable to people like me. Maybe that’s you.

Don’t get me wrong. I think there’s a lot of wisdom here but maybe it’s ...

Broken Butterfly Wings and Other Things

Broken Butterfly Wings

I don’t know much about butterflies or aerodynamics but looking closely at this picture I took by the roadside earlier this week, I noticed the left top wing. I was touched by the poignancy of life and death and the beauty and suffering in between.

This little orange and black fellow really made me ponder how he might have lost so much wing, how he manages to fly, if he finds protection in the company of other butterflies, etc. It makes me think of how we as humans have to...
