The Phoenix Has Arisen

The Phoenix Has Arisen

So, a while ago I wrote about my decision about writing a novel that would take place before the events that happen in the series I’m currently working on. I put that on pause to continue writingIgnite, the first book in this series. But now, I’m taking this one month of march to see how much I can go with Phoenix, since her story is one I’ve had in my head for quite a long time.

After reading what I’d written at the beginning of the year, I decided it sucked. And here’...

Discussion: Male POVs in YA

male

Okay, I love books told from guys’ POV as much as the next person. I even love mixed POVs too! We can all agree this type of writing gives us some valuable insight into the story that can make it something you just won’t stop reading.

I just despisecertainthings regarding male POVs. Especifically, over-the-top sexuality.

I’m not blind, I know guys are no saints, (neither are girls but you get my drift) but there IS a healthy middle between a normal guy and one who is always horny. Seriously. So...

My Month in Movies

mmm

I haven’t been very productive movie-watching wise this month, but I managed to squeeze in two (yay!). It seems that when my brain refuses to compute the written word, and burns at the the thought of staring at that bloody blinking cursor moving over a blank page of what is supposed to be an essay, it gladly accepts the soothing effect of wasting no energy in just absorbing a movie.

Here we go!

1. Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending

I watched it out of pure boredom. I didn’t even know what the thing was about. I...

Review: Soul Crossed, by Lisa G. Green

review

Soul CrossedOne Demon.

One Angel.

One Soul.

Josh lived a reckless, selfish life, so upon his death, escaping the eternal torments of Hell by assuming the role of a powerful, soul-corrupting demon is an easy choice. His first soul assignment doesn’t seem too hard: the mortal Camden is already obsessed with weapons, pain, and torture. If only Josh wasn’t distracted by Cam’s beautiful friend, Grace.

Grace never expected to die violently at age sixteen, but now she’s an Angel, responsible for saving a soul. She...

bblat

Phew! I almost didn’t make it for this Mini Challenge! But here they are, my bookish high fives!

Right now, I’m still book hungover because of Finnikin of the Rock. I feel as though I haven’t praised as much as I should have. I mean, that thing is perfection! If you haven’t checked it out by now, you totally should. You won’t regret it.

Finnikin of the Rock

Genre

A story set in the normal world but with fantasy elements thrown in is my current crush, so I’m gonna go with Urban Fantasy
