La Bendición Viene Por el Hacer

“Ahora que saben estas cosas, Dios los bendecirá por hacerlas”. Juan 13:17 (NTV)

Los vientos incontrolables de la vida (vientos emocionales, vientos financieros y vientos espirituales) pueden abrumarte y desviarte del rumbo. Pero la Palabra de Dios está llena de principios para ayudarte a resistir incluso los vientos más fuertes.

Ayer analizamos la importancia de mantenerse conectado con la familia de la iglesia. Hoy veremos otro antídoto para los vientos destructivos: pon en práctica todo lo que aprendas.

Dios no quiere que solamente escuches Su Palabra. Él quiere que la obedezcas y que la practiques.

La Biblia dice: “Todo el que escucha mi enseñanza y la sigue es sabio, como la persona que construye su casa sobre una roca sólida. Aunque llueva a cántaros y suban las aguas de la inundación y los vientos golpeen contra esa casa, no se vendrá abajo porque está construida sobre un lecho de roca” Mateo 7:24-25 (NTV).

Fíjate en las tres cosas que suceden en una tormenta. La lluvia cae, atacando el techo de tu vida. Los arroyos suben, inundando los cimientos de tu vida. Y los vientos soplan, golpeando contra las paredes de tu vida. Lo obtienes desde la parte superior, inferior y lateral. Y no tienes control sobre nada de eso.

¿Qué haces con las cosas incontrolables de la vida: ese diagnóstico que no puedes controlar, un hijo que no puedes controlar o dificultades financieras que no puedes controlar? Pones en práctica todo lo que has aprendido en las Escrituras. Y cuando lo hagas, no caerás porque los cimientos de tu casa están construidos sobre la roca.

¿Qué es la roca? La roca es la Palabra de Dios. Y cuanto más construyas tu vida sobre la roca, más sólida será. El viento puede venir y causar enormes problemas, pero no devastará tu vida cuando estés haciendo lo que Dios dice.

Juan 13:17 dice: “Ahora que saben estas cosas, Dios los bendecirá por hacerlas” (NTV).

Ese versículo no dice que serás bendecido si sabes estas cosas. Dice que serás bendecido si las haces.

Tal vez estés saliendo de una temporada difícil en este momento, o tal vez estés a punto de enfrentar una. No puedo enfatizarlo lo suficiente: edifica tu vida sobre la Palabra firme e inquebrantable de Dios. Es el único fundamento en el que puedes confiar.

Ya sea mostrando bondad en el hogar o siendo paciente en el trabajo, ¿cómo se vería diferente esta semana si hicieras lo que Dios te llama a hacer?¿Quién en tu vida es un buen ejemplo de alguien que obedece constantemente la Palabra de Dios, no solo conoce la Palabra de Dios?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Move Forward by Faith, Not by Feelings

“Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.”

Psalm 126:5-6 (NLT)

You need to plant by faith, not by your feelings.

Do you think that every day a farmer wakes up excited to go to work on their farm? No. It’s hard work! But if a farmer only worked their crops when they felt like it, not much would get done. They may not want to get up early. They may not want to go plant and weed and cultivate and harvest. But they do it anyway.

Let me make a little confession: I don’t always feel like being nice to people. I hate to admit it! Sometimes I want to be cranky. Sometimes I just want to say, “Leave me alone!” I don’t always feel like being kind. I don’t always feel like being generous. I don’t always feel like giving people hope.

But I don’t live by my feelings. I choose to live by faith. Sometimes I plant when I’m tired. Sometimes I plant when I’m distracted. Sometimes I plant when I’m stressed out. Sometimes I plant when I’m in deep, deep grief. And I move ahead in faith in spite of my feelings, expecting God to act.

One year at Saddleback Church, we were approaching the anniversary of my son’s death, and I really didn’t want to be at church. It was close to Easter, and I would have rather just celebrated the resurrection at home with my family and my Lord and just get through the day.

I was in tears most of that week, and I claimed Psalm 126:5-6 as a promise: “Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest” (NLT).          

And you know what? As I was planting seeds in 14 Easter services, God gave a harvest of 2,604 people who came to Christ. Those who sow in tears will reap in joy. All those people are going to be in heaven because I didn’t do what I felt like doing. I did what I did by faith.

Sometimes God will call you to make a sacrifice—through your money, yes, but also through your time, talent, and maybe even your life. You may feel like saying, “I don’t feel like it.” But if you do, you will miss the blessing that God wants to give by using you.

Talk It Over

Do you live most of your life by your feelings? Why do you think it is so easy to do this?
What would it look like for you to live by faith? What would change in your life?
What sacrifice is God asking you to make that will require you to plant seeds by faith?

Where will you spend eternity?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cómo Resistir Fuerzas Destructivas

“Entonces ya no seremos inmaduros como los niños. No seremos arrastrados de un lado a otro ni empujados por cualquier corriente de nuevas enseñanzas. No nos dejaremos llevar por personas que intenten engañarnos con mentiras tan hábiles que parezcan la verdad”. Efesios 4:14 (NTV)

Una de las fuerzas más poderosas de la naturaleza es el viento. Por eso la Biblia usa el viento como metáfora de tantas cosas. Hay vientos de pruebas, problemas, conflictos y tentaciones. Pero Dios hace posible resistir a cada uno.

Efesios 6:13 dice: “Por lo tanto, pónganse todas las piezas de la armadura de Dios para poder resistir al enemigo en el tiempo del mal. Así, después de la batalla, todavía seguirán de pie, firmes” (NTV).

La palabra resistir significa “permanecer sin daños por una fuerza destructiva”. Una de las mejores maneras de no sufrir daños por los vientos de la vida es mantenerte conectado con tu familia espiritual.

Dios nunca tuvo la intención de que soportaras días difíciles por ti mismo. Una de las primeras cosas que Dios dijo fue: “No es bueno que el hombre esté solo” Génesis 2:18a  (NTV). Si alguna vez te casas o no es irrelevante. Necesitas una familia espiritual de apoyo para que puedas mantenerte conectado cuando soplan fuertes vientos. Una de las principales razones por las que Jesús creó su iglesia fue para ser una familia de apoyo.

Mire este pasaje de Efesios 4:11-12, 14: “Ahora bien, Cristo dio los siguientes dones a la iglesia: los apóstoles, los profetas, los evangelistas, y los pastores y maestros. Ellos tienen la responsabilidad de preparar al pueblo de Dios para que lleve a cabo la obra de Dios y edifique la iglesia, es decir, el cuerpo de Cristo… Entonces ya no seremos inmaduros como los niños. No seremos arrastrados de un lado a otro ni empujados por cualquier corriente de nuevas enseñanzas. No nos dejaremos llevar por personas que intenten engañarnos con mentiras tan hábiles que parezcan la verdad” (NTV).

Aprendes de este pasaje que la iglesia de Dios es Su herramienta para edificar a Su pueblo en una vida mejor. Ha dotado a ciertas personas para hacer esto. Yo soy uno de ellos. Soy pastor y maestro. Pero mis regalos no son para mi beneficio; son para el beneficio de los demás.

Otra cosa que aprendes es que el trabajo de “los apóstoles, los profetas, los evangelistas, y los pastores y maestros” es evitar que su iglesia se deje llevar por las ideas falsas, “ni empujados por cualquier corriente de nuevas enseñanzas”.

Las creencias de las personas pueden cambiar fácilmente. Ellos creen de una manera este año y de otra manera el próximo año. No solo cambian las ideas y creencias de las personas, sino también la información. Nada es más irrelevante que un libro de hace 10 años sobre computadoras. Son inútiles porque siempre estamos descubriendo cosas nuevas.

Pero la verdad nunca cambia. Si era cierto hace 2000 años, también lo será dentro de 2000 años. Isaías 40:8 dice: “La hierba se seca y las flores se marchitan, pero la palabra de nuestro Dios permanece para siempre” (NTV).

Hay muchos vientos cambiantes en nuestra cultura actual que simplemente están equivocados. Son engaños, mentiras y verdades a medias. No te dejes engañar. En su lugar, mantente conectado con la familia de tu iglesia.

Sow Godliness in the Next Generation

“I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”

John 4:38 (NLT)

Years ago PBS did a series of family histories of famous Americans. They wanted to include a pastor, so they asked me if I would participate. They took a swab of DNA from my mouth, and they used it to trace my family tree back a thousand years. They didn’t discover that I’m the descendent of kings, but they found all kinds of interesting things and compiled it for a TV special.

One of the things they discovered is the amount of godly ancestors I have. I am reaping the benefit and blessings from grandparents and great-grandparents and others who were praying for their children’s children and making disciples in our family. I can see the blessings in my life because I had people in my family who loved God and were praying for future generations.

I know many would say, “I didn’t have a family like that. But I’d like to have a legacy like that.”

You start it! Start that kind of legacy—the kind with eternal effects—with your family. You determine that the future generations of your family name are going to be blessed because you planted seeds of godliness, because you prayed and did not give up, even when you didn’t get to see the harvest. If you do, the people who come out of your family tree will have a blessing in heritage.

You are harvesting both good and bad from your past. Why? Because you’re not the only person sowing. You need to take your choices very seriously, because your life is going to affect future generations. You can’t control the past, but you can break the chain of hurt and abuse and ungodliness now. You can change the course for your family. You can establish a godly legacy by sowing seeds of prayer and love and generosity and faith.

Jesus said in John 4:38, “I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest” (NLT).

You may never see the harvest here on earth. But you can be sure your faithfulness will have an impact for generations to come and for eternity.

Talk It Over

How has your family legacy affected your life?
What do you want your grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be able to harvest because of what you planted in your life?
If you do not have children, who is your spiritual family that will benefit from your faithfulness?

What is your choice about Jesus?

God proved his goodness through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 CSB).

Are you ready to trust God to fulfill his promise of eternal life? If so, start by praying this simple prayer: “Dear God, I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Por qué el Cambio No Ocurre Instantáneamente

“¡Tú guardarás en perfecta paz a todos los que confían en ti, a todos los que concentran en ti sus pensamientos! Confíen siempre en el Señor, porque el Señor Dios es la Roca eterna”. Isaías 26:3-4 (NTV)

A medida que Dios te mueve hacia una vida mejor, es posible que desees que el cambio suceda rápidamente. Quieres una transformación instantánea: un cambio de imagen total en una hora. Pero Dios no tiene prisa porque está más interesado en hacer crecer tu carácter.

Un hombre me dijo una vez: “Rick, siento que mi vida está inundada de problemas y estoy a punto de ahogarme en la inundación”. Cuando dijo eso, el primer versículo que me vino a la mente fue sobre Noé y el diluvio: “Entonces las aguas del diluvio se retiraron de la tierra en forma gradual. Después de ciento cincuenta días, exactamente cinco meses después de que comenzó el diluvio, el barco se detuvo sobre las montañas de Ararat” Génesis 8:3-4 (NTV). La inundación no desapareció instantáneamente, y sabía que los problemas de este hombre tampoco lo harían. El cambio duradero toma tiempo.

La verdad es que el crecimiento ocurre poco a poco a lo largo de tu vida. El crecimiento no ocurre en un solo paso o un solo salto. Ni siquiera proviene de una sola decisión. Ocurre a través de un cambio gradual. Sucede a través de la santificación, el proceso por el cual Dios te hace crecer.

El apóstol Pablo dijo: “Y estoy seguro de que Dios, quien comenzó la buena obra en ustedes, la continuará hasta que quede completamente terminada el día que Cristo Jesús vuelva” Filipenses 1:6 (NTV).

El buen trabajo de Dios dentro de ti comienza con un compromiso consciente, ese momento en que dices: “Está bien, cuenta conmigo. No quiero quedarme atrapado en una buena vida; Quiero una vida mejor. Dios, quiero todo lo que tienes para mí. Quiero que el resto de mi vida sea lo mejor de mi vida”.

Isaías 26:3-4 habla de ese compromiso: “¡Tú guardarás en perfecta paz a todos los que confían en ti, a todos los que concentran en ti sus pensamientos! Confíen siempre en el Señor, porque el Señor Dios es la Roca eterna” Isaías 26:3-4 (NTV).

¿Quieres ser completo y estable? Pon tu mente en Dios, y “sigue así, no te rindas”.

Cuando comprendas que Dios “quien comenzó la buena obra… la continuará hasta que quede completamente terminada”, serás mucho más paciente en el largo proceso de pasar de una buena vida a una vida mejor.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

Ya sea que hayas participado en un plan para perder peso rápidamente o para hacerte rico rápidamente, ¿qué cambio rápido has intentado hacer tú mismo? ¿Cuál fue el resultado?¿Qué consejo le darías a un amigo que espera ver una mejora instantánea en sus circunstancias actuales?Después de leer este devocional, ¿en qué áreas crees que Dios te está llamando a esperar pacientemente en Él para que produzca el cambio?

¿Seguirás a Jesús hoy?

La Biblia dice: “Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna” Juan 3:16 (NVI).

¿Confiarás en que Dios cumplirá su promesa? Haz esta sencilla oración: “Querido Dios, creo que Jesucristo es tu Hijo. Confieso que he pecado y te pido perdón. Creo que Jesús murió para quitar mis pecados y que tú lo resucitaste. Quiero desde este día en adelante, confiar en Jesús como mi Salvador y seguirlo como mi Señor. Guía mi vida y ayúdame a hacer tu voluntad. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

God’s Promises to Those Who Give

“Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.”

Luke 6:38 (ICB)

To reap a great harvest, you must plant generously in faith.

My wife Kay and I have done this hundreds and hundreds of times. We’ve raised our giving from 10 percent 40 years ago to giving away more than 90 percent of our income today. I’m an example of the fact that you cannot out-give God. I’ve tried for more than 40 years and lost every time.

To plant generously in faith, you need to remember two promises of Jesus. First, Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you” (ICB).

You need to start being generous in planting seeds in this life to harvest in the next. “The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.”

Then, in Mark 10:29-30, Jesus gives a guarantee about anything you give up for his sake. He says, “There is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time . . . and in the age to come eternal life” (ESV). 

God says that anything you give up for his sake and sacrifice for his kingdom will be returned a hundredfold. You know how much a hundredfold is? That’s 10,000 percent interest. Do you know any stockbroker that will guarantee that? Only God and his Son can do that. They’ve been doing business with people like you for 2,000 years.

These are the promises of God. You can believe them or not. But if you don’t believe God’s promises, I have to ask you this: Why do you believe Jesus will save you and take you to heaven? That’s the same Jesus. Why do some people trust God with their eternal salvation, but they don’t trust God with their finances?

It only makes sense to trust God for both and to plant generously in faith so that you can reap a harvest.

Acepta lo que Dios Está Haciendo

“Pero olvida todo eso; no es nada comparado con lo que voy a hacer. Pues estoy a punto de hacer algo nuevo. ¡Mira, ya he comenzado! ¿No lo ves? Haré un camino a través del desierto; crearé ríos en la tierra árida y baldía”. Isaías 43:18-19 (NTV)

No se puede retroceder en la vida. Solo puedes ir hacia adelante. Eso significa que solo tienes dos opciones: puedes anhelar las cosas como solían ser y no cambiar ni una sola cosa de hoy, o puedes confiar en Dios para hacer algo nuevo.

La Biblia dice: “¡El fiel amor del Señor nunca se acaba! Sus misericordias jamás terminan. Grande es su fidelidad; sus misericordias son nuevas cada mañana” Lamentaciones 3:22-23 (NTV).

Dios es un Dios de novedad. Él no hace las mismas cosas viejas todo el tiempo. Entonces, para vivir una vida mejor, necesitas cooperar con las cosas nuevas que Dios quiere hacer en tu familia, en tu carrera, en tus amistades, en tu iglesia y en el mundo que te rodea.

Pero las personas no siempre están interesadas en las cosas nuevas que Dios está haciendo. A veces sueñas con el pasado y dices: “Ojalá hubiera vivido en esa época” o “Ojalá pudiera volver a ese período de mi vida”. Pero desear revivir el pasado es como mirar por el espejo retrovisor mientras se conduce y nunca mirar hacia adelante por el parabrisas. Si sigues así, vas a estrellarte.

Dios dice en Isaías 43:18-19: “Pero olvida todo eso; no es nada comparado con lo que voy a hacer. Pues estoy a punto de hacer algo nuevo. ¡Mira, ya he comenzado! ¿No lo ves? Haré un camino a través del desierto; crearé ríos en la tierra árida y baldía” (NTV).

Antes de que puedas abrazar las cosas nuevas que Dios va a hacer en tu vida y en el mundo, debes estar buscándolas. Si siempre estás mirando hacia atrás, no puedes “esperar las cosas nuevas” que Dios va a hacer.

Elegí la palabra “abrazar” intencionalmente. ¿Por qué? Porque “aceptar” significa estar de acuerdo con algo o aceptarlo porque no tienes otra opción. Abrazar significa estar contento con eso, ¡o incluso amarlo! No abrazas las cosas que no amas. Dios quiere que abraces las cosas nuevas que Él hace.

¿Cómo le muestras a Dios que estás enfocado en las cosas nuevas que está haciendo? Dices esta oración: “Dios, ayúdame a hacer lo que estás bendiciendo”, en lugar de “Dios, bendice lo que estoy haciendo”. Y cuando lo hagas, podrás abrazar las cosas increíbles que hará a continuación.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Por qué Dios no quiere que vivas constantemente en el pasado?¿Qué cosa nueva podría estar haciendo Dios en tu actitud o perspectivas actuales?¿En qué áreas te resulta difícil aceptar cosas nuevas?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Why Not Your Best?

“Do your best to improve your faith.”

2 Peter 1:5 (CEV)

Admiral Hyman Rickover was the father of the U.S. nuclear Navy. He once interviewed a Naval Academy graduate and asked him a very direct question: “When you were in school and in all your life, did you always do your best?” The young man started to say “yes” but then realized it wasn’t truthful. “No,” he said, “I didn’t do my best all the time.” Admiral Rickover looked at him with piercing eyes and said, “Why not?”

Why not? The question burned in the young man’s heart, and it was a turning point in his life. That young cadet, Jimmy Carter, became the 39th president of the U.S. and wrote a book called Why Not the Best?

If you want to give your best to God, there are three things you must do that every soldier understands.

1. You must define what you would die for.
Soldiers know there are some things more valuable than their own lives. Even Jesus talked about it: “The greatest love is shown when a person lays down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 TLB). You measure love not by what people tell you but by their willingness to sacrifice everything they have for something.

2. You must sacrifice your own comfort.
Soldiers do this all the time. They serve in extreme circumstances and don’t make much money. They give up a lot of things.

You don’t become a great man or woman of God by doing what’s easy or comfortable. You do it by committing to something greater than yourself and then being willing to sacrifice for it. The greater your sacrifice in life, the greater your character will be. “Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:3 NLT).           

3. You must eliminate distractions.
“No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer” (2 Timothy 2:4 NIV). Soldiers know they can’t be distracted if they want to be ready to respond to a leader’s command.

If you want to be great, if you want to be the best you can be, you must start spending more of your time, money, and energy on things that are going to last forever and less time, money, and energy on things that don’t really matter.

If you want to give your best to God, why not start with these three steps?

Talk It Over

What are you willing to die for? This question may be hard to think about, but why is it important to ask?
What things can you give up in order to make more time for the things that matter in life?
Can the distractions that keep you from focusing on God’s purpose be good things? What are some examples?

What is your choice about Jesus?

God proved his goodness through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 CSB).

Are you ready to trust God to fulfill his promise of eternal life? If so, start by praying this simple prayer: “Dear God, I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

No te Apresures a Reiniciar

“Pues la visión se realizará en el tiempo señalado; marcha hacia su cumplimiento, y no dejará de cumplirse. Aunque parezca tardar, espérala; porque sin falta vendrá”. Habacuc 2:3 (NVI)

¿Qué significa comprometerse lentamente después de una temporada difícil? Significa que no debes tener prisa. Debes ir lentamente. El hecho de que tengas la libertad de hacer algo no significa que debas tener prisa por reiniciarlo todo.

Cuando tengas la tentación de regresar rápidamente a la vida, aquí hay tres cosas que debes recordar:

No tienes el mismo nivel de energía que tenías antes. Por experiencia, sé que pasar por un momento difícil es muy agotador. Es como conectar bombillas a una batería. Cuantas más bombillas conectes, más rápido se agotará la batería. Entonces, cada día que continúa una crisis, tu energía se agota más rápidamente.Dios nunca tiene prisa. No hay un solo ejemplo en las Escrituras de Jesús corriendo a alguna parte. Cuando su amigo Lázaro se estaba muriendo, por ejemplo, Jesús estaba a solo medio día de camino. Pero Jesús tardó tres días en llegar a donde Lázaro. Y cuando llegó allí, Lázaro ya estaba muerto. ¿Por qué? Jesús sabía que Dios estaba a cargo y que tenía un plan mejor, uno que no requería que Jesús se apresurara.El tiempo de Dios es perfecto. Cuando te impacientas durante los días difíciles y quieres acelerar las cosas, debes confiar en que Dios sabe lo que está haciendo. En el caso de Lázaro, Dios tenía un plan que era aún más grande que curar a Lázaro. ¡El plan de Dios era resucitarlo! Pero ese plan requería que Jesús tomara las cosas con calma y no se apresurara antes del cronograma de Dios.

El profeta Habacuc tenía una palabra para las personas que querían volver rápidamente a la forma en que recordaban su vida. Dios dijo en Habacuc 2:3: “Pues la visión se realizará en el tiempo señalado; marcha hacia su cumplimiento, y no dejará de cumplirse. Aunque parezca tardar, espérala; porque sin falta vendrá” (NVI).

Querer acelerar el plan de Dios siempre ha sido un problema. En el Antiguo Testamento, Dios tuvo que recordar a menudo a su pueblo que el progreso es gradual, no instantáneo. Yo lo llamo el principio del ritmo. Parte del plan de Dios puede incluir un calendario más lento que el tuyo o de lo que cualquier otra persona quiere.

Una de las razones por las que Dios se mueve lentamente es porque sabe que las demoras te hacen más fuerte. Cuando los israelitas se dirigían hacia la Tierra Prometida, encontraron muchas barreras. Pero Dios dijo: “Los desalojaré poco a poco, hasta que seas lo bastante fuerte para tomar posesión de la tierra” Éxodo 23:30 (NVI). Dios sabía que solo se beneficiarían cuando las cosas sucedieran lentamente.

Entonces, recuerda, no hay necesidad de encender un interruptor para que tu vida vuelva a ser como antes. En su lugar, usa un atenuador para volver a subir lentamente las cosas, mientras confías completamente en el plan de Dios para tu vida.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿En qué área necesitas reducir la velocidad y participar en la vida a un ritmo más lento?¿Cuándo has tratado rápidamente de que tu vida “vuelva a la normalidad” después de un momento de crisis? ¿Qué sucedió?Da un ejemplo de cómo Dios podría usar una demora para fortalecer a alguien.

¿Seguirás a Jesús hoy?

La Biblia dice: “Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna” Juan 3:16 (NVI).

¿Confiarás en que Dios cumplirá su promesa? Haz esta sencilla oración: “Querido Dios, creo que Jesucristo es tu Hijo. Confieso que he pecado y te pido perdón. Creo que Jesús murió para perdonar mis pecados y que tú lo resucitaste. Quiero desde este día en adelante confiar en Jesús como mi Salvador y seguirlo como mi Señor. Padre, guía mi vida y ayúdame a hacer tu voluntad. En el nombre de Jesús hago esta oración. Amén”.

You Have to Believe It to See It

“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

Faith is visualizing the future. It’s believing before you see it. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV).

How will you see what’s happening in your life through eyes of faith?

A lot of people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it!” God says the exact opposite is true: “You will see it when you first believe it.” There are many things in life that have to be believed before they can be seen.

In 1961, the Soviet Union sent the first cosmonaut into space. When the cosmonaut returned to earth, the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev declared they’d been to space and didn’t see any god there.

About 10 months later, the U.S. sent John Glenn into space. He circled the earth three times on his Mercury mission, came back down, and told the world, “I saw God everywhere! I saw his glory in the galaxy. I saw his splendor in the universe. I saw his majesty in the stars.”

Which one was right? They both were. Jesus said, “Unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3 NLT). Before there is spiritual transformation in your life, you’re too narrow-minded to see the possibility of what God wants to do in your life.

Wernher von Braun, the leading scientist in the early stages of the U.S. space program, said, “There has never been any great accomplishment in history without faith.”

It is faith that causes the scientist to believe that we can put a man on the moon. It is faith that causes an architect to design a building because, first, they believe it can be done. It is faith that causes an Olympic athlete to practice and go to the Olympic trials because they believe they can achieve it. It is faith that causes a sculptor or an artist to believe that they can paint a picture or attempt the sculpture. Someone has to believe it before we see it.

You can trust God’s promises and his work in your life. Believe in God’s love and care and guidance as you face whatever he has given you today. Believe it, and you will see it.
