Haz una Lista de Cosas para “No Hacer”

“Dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso: Piensen bien lo que están haciendo”. Hageo 1:5 (PDT)

Después de haber pasado por una temporada desafiante, eventualmente estarás listo para reanudar tu vida nuevamente. Pero mientras lo haces, debes tener en cuenta algunos principios. Como hemos hablado en los últimos días, debes esperar sentir emociones encontradas y también tomarte el tiempo para extraer las lecciones que aprendiste del momento difícil. Y aquí hay otra cosa que debes hacer: evaluar todo.

Ya sea que regreses a la vida después de una enfermedad, un divorcio, una pérdida o un momento de pánico, no digas automáticamente: “Bueno, voy a hacer todo como siempre lo he hecho” ¿Por qué? Porque las dificultades cambian a las personas. No eres la misma persona después de un trauma.

En lugar de volver a los mismos viejos patrones, comportamientos y hábitos, Dios quiere darte la oportunidad de restablecer tu vida. Es probable que haya algunas cosas que estabas haciendo antes de los tiempos difíciles que no deberías comenzar de nuevo.

Cuando los antiguos judíos reanudaron la “vida normal” después de estar en cautiverio, el profeta Hageo tenía un mensaje para ellos: “Ahora pues, dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso: «Piensen bien lo que están haciendo. Ustedes siembran mucho pero es poco lo que cosechan, comen pero no quedan satisfechos, beben pero no les alcanza para saciarse, se visten pero no lo suficiente para abrigarse. Ganan dinero pero se les va como si tuvieran roto el bolsillo»” Hageo 1:5-6 (PDT).

Las palabras de Hageo parecen metáforas de insatisfacción: sigo comiendo, pero todavía tengo hambre; Sigo bebiendo, pero todavía tengo sed. En otras palabras, si lo que hiciste antes de los tiempos difíciles fue tan insatisfactorio, ¿por qué volver a hacerlo?

Una forma en que puedes “pensar cuidadosamente en tus formas” es hacer una lista de cosas para “no hacer”, no una lista de “cosas por hacer”. Algunas cosas que solías hacer no son necesariamente malas, como pasar mucho tiempo en cosas como las redes sociales, mirar televisión o ir de compras. Simplemente no necesitas reanudarlos porque no son necesarios. Así que agrégalos a tu lista de “no hacer”.

Después de una temporada difícil, Dios quiere reconstruir tu vida y hacerla mejor y más saludable que nunca. Pero tú también tienes un papel en eso. Debes tomarte el tiempo para evaluar todo antes de reanudar tu vida.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

Examina tu vida hoy. ¿Qué cosas que has estado haciendo deberían agregarse a tu lista de “no hacer”?¿Cómo te cambió una temporada difícil? ¿Cómo cambió tu visión del mundo que te rodea?¿Cuál es un hábito que dejaste de lado durante un período traumático que te gustaría retomar?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Is It Your Dream or God’s Dream?

“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.”

Mark 8:35 (NLT)

How do you know if you are living for your dream or God’s dream?

You may think you were created to get up, go to work, come home, watch TV, and go to bed, to make a little money, retire, and die. Really? You think that’s all God put you here for?

If your dream is truly from God, it will somehow be connected to his church and his plan for the world. Why would God give you a self-centered dream, unconnected to what he wants to do in the world? He wants to use you for his dream. He wants to use you for his plan.

God is building a family, and he’s collecting family members from every nation, tribe, language, and people group. When everybody’s in the family that he knows will be in the family, it’s over. We’re going into phase two, which is eternity. That’s God’s big plan.

Right before Jesus went back to heaven after the resurrection, he gave the disciples a great dream. It’s called the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20 NLT).

The Great Commission is your commission. We’ve had 2,000 years of God building his family so that now there are 2.5 billion people in it. The church is almost as big as China and India combined. It’s bigger than anything else on this planet—because God created it. It’s the whole purpose of history.

And when God gives you a dream for your life, it is somehow going to be connected to his overarching plan. It’s connected to the growth of his kingdom and his family until the day it’s completed and we all go to heaven.

Mark 8:35 says, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it” (NLT).

You weren’t put here on earth to live for yourself. Ask God to give you his dream for your life so that you can be part of the biggest, best, and most important story.

“I’m grateful for your unconditional love. I want to use the rest of my life to love and serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

No Desperdicies Tus Experiencias Dolorosas

“¿Tantos sufrimientos, para nada? ¡Aunque no creo que no hayan servido de nada!”. Gálatas 3:4 (TLA)  

La Biblia está llena de principios para ayudarte a reanudar tu vida con éxito después de una temporada difícil. Ayer vimos el primer principio: espera sentir emociones encontradas. Y hoy veremos el segundo: Extrae las lecciones que aprendiste.

Antes de salir corriendo y comenzar un montón de cosas nuevas después de pasar por un momento difícil, Dios quiere que hagas una pausa y consideres las lecciones que aprendiste. No dejes que todo el dolor por el que has pasado se desperdicie. Tómate el tiempo para extraer las verdades espirituales de todo lo que has experimentado.

La Biblia dice: “¿Tantos sufrimientos, para nada? ¡Aunque no creo que no hayan servido de nada!” Gálatas 3:4 (TLA).

Una forma de asegurarte de no desperdiciar tus experiencias difíciles es escribir cada lección que has aprendido. De esa forma podrás revisarlos más tarde para compartirlos con otras generaciones.

¿Qué pasa cuando haces esto? El sufrimiento por el que pasaste de repente tendrá un valor increíble. Deuteronomio 4:9 dice: “¡Pero tengan cuidado! Presten atención y no olviden las cosas que han visto sus ojos, ni las aparten de su corazón mientras vivan. Cuéntenselas a sus hijos y a sus nietos” (NVI).

Sugiero que te quedes solo en un lugar tranquilo, solo tú y un diario. Este podría ser tu diario de vida. Un diario de vida no es un diario de las actividades de cada día. Las generaciones futuras no estarán interesadas en lo que hiciste; estarán interesados en lo que aprendiste.

Aquí hay algunas preguntas que puedes responder en tu diario de vida:

¿Qué aprendí acerca de lo que es más importante?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de lo que es menos importante?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de mis debilidades?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de mis fortalezas?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de mis relaciones?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de mi ritmo de vida?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de Dios?

¿Qué aprendí acerca del mundo y la cultura que me rodea?

¿Qué aprendí acerca del dinero?

¿Qué aprendí acerca de la felicidad?

Recuerda: antes de reiniciar tu vida después de una temporada de crisis, pérdida o trauma, anota todas las lecciones que has aprendido. Entonces no “olvidarás las cosas que has visto que Dios hizo por ti” y no tendrás que volver a aprender esas lecciones.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cuál es tu experiencia con llevar un diario?¿Cuál es una de las lecciones más importantes que aprendiste de una temporada dolorosa? ¿Cómo sería de beneficio compartir esa lección con otros?¿Hubo un momento difícil en tu vida cuando sentiste que no tenías un propósito? Tómate el tiempo hoy para revisar las lecciones que aprendiste de esa temporada dolorosa, ¡y observa cómo Dios las usa!

 

La libertad de Dios está disponible para ti hoy

Dios prometió que para aquellos que creen en Jesús, no hay condenación. Él envió a Jesús para quitar tu pecado. Su muerte en la cruz pagó por cada mal que has hecho o harás. Y al sacrificarse a sí mismo, Jesús hizo posible que tengas una relación con Dios, el Padre.

Y las buenas noticias no se detienen ahí. Dios también resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos, demostrando su poder sobre el pecado y la muerte. Y eso hace posible que pases la eternidad con Él en el Cielo.

Si estás listo para entregar tu vida a Jesucristo, comienza con esta sencilla oración: “Querido Dios, sé que he pecado contra ti y te pido perdón. Yo creo que Jesucristo es Tu Hijo. Creo que Él murió por mi pecado y que tú lo resucitaste. Quiero confiar en Él como mi Salvador y seguirlo como Señor, desde este día en adelante. Guía mi vida y ayúdame a hacer tu voluntad. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

Doubt Is the Enemy of Imagination

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”

James 1:5-7 (NIV)

Doubt is the enemy of imagination.

When you were a kid, you had a great imagination. But the older you get, the more your imagination grows rusty. You stop imagining what things could be, and you just start living the way they are. You get stuck in the status quo, which is Latin for “the mess we’re in.”

Doubt and fear neutralize what God wants to do in your life. It takes courage to imagine. Do you know why most people don’t imagine? Because they’re afraid of failure.

Every great thing that we did at Saddleback Church, I was scared to death to do. But I just said we were going to do it anyway. Why? Because I’m not about to let fear dominate my life. So I move forward, trembling.

Courage is when you do the right thing while you are afraid. Sometimes it’s doing the thing you fear the most! You may wonder, “Should I wait until all my doubts are gone?” But you have to move against your fears. You have to ignore all the insecurity you’re feeling and just go for it.

James 1:5-7 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord” (NIV).

Your imagination is either going to be governed by fear or it’s going to be governed by faith. That’s your choice. If you let your imagination be governed by fear, then you’re going to go around being freaked out, stressed out, and worried all the time. When you allow fear to control your imagination, you live a miserable life.

Instead decide that you’re not going to allow fear to dominate. Let your faith dominate. Trust in God. Then you can move forward in faith and allow your imagination to be filled with all kinds of possibilities—because all things are possible with God.

Cómo Lidiar con tus Emociones Encontradas

“Alégrense con los que están alegres; lloren con los que lloran”. Romanos 12:15 (NVI)

La verdad es que la vida rara vez vuelve a la “normalidad” después de una temporada difícil. Los tiempos difíciles cambian a las personas, y no solo a las personas, sino también al mundo que las rodea. Para reanudar la vida con éxito después de un momento difícil, deberás hacer algunos ajustes.

Cuatro principios de las Escrituras te ayudarán a construir una vida mejor y más fuerte después de una temporada difícil. Veremos uno hoy y los otros en los próximos días. El primero es este: Espera sentir las emociones encontradas.

El pueblo de Dios sintió emociones encontradas cuando regresaron a Jerusalén después de haber estado cautivos en Babilonia durante 70 años. Su ciudad estaba en ruinas, pero lo primero que hicieron fue reconstruir su casa de adoración. Cuando terminaron de poner los cimientos, algunas personas dieron gracias a Dios a gritos, mientras que otras lloraron a gritos al recordar cómo era el otro templo.

Esdras 3:13 describe cómo se mezclaron sus emociones: “Y no se podía distinguir entre los gritos de alegría y las voces de llanto, pues la gente gritaba a voz en cuello, y el ruido se escuchaba desde muy lejos” (NVI).

Tal vez tú también hayas experimentado emociones mezcladas al regresar a la vida después de un período de sufrimiento o pérdida: la pérdida de un ser querido, un trabajo, un hogar o una amistad. Es cien por ciento normal sentir dolor mezclado con alegría y tristeza mezclada con emoción.

Es por eso que lo primero que debes hacer es darte gracia a ti mismo por las emociones encontradas que sientes, y también dar gracia a los demás. En las temporadas difíciles, es importante ser empático con las personas que también están luchando con emociones encontradas.

Romanos 12:15 dice: “Alégrense con los que están alegres; lloren con los que lloran” (NVI). Es difícil acostumbrarse al cambio. Dios a menudo hará que aprendas nuevos hábitos y comportamientos mientras reconstruye tu vida. Así que sé amable contigo mismo y con todos los demás cuando experimentes emociones encontradas.

Cuando estás saliendo de una temporada de crisis, pérdida o trauma, puede ser difícil imaginar volver a ponerte de pie. Pero Dios quiere darte un nuevo comienzo y ayudarte a construir una vida mejor de lo que era antes.

Your Faith Requires Imagination

“We fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)

When you can’t see something physically, you have to imagine it in your mind. That’s why imagination is essential to living by faith.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV).

Faith is when we hope for something, and we know it’s going to happen. In order to hope for something, you have to picture it in your mind. To put your faith in something, you have to be able to picture it.

Hebrews 11 is called God’s Hall of Fame. When you read through the names, you realize that every one of them became heroes of faith because they used their imagination.

For instance, God said to Abraham, “You’re 90 years old, and you have no kids. But I’m going to change your name from Abram to Abraham, which means ‘father of a great nation.’”

He told Abraham to go outside at night and count the stars: That’s how many grandchildren and great grandchildren Abraham would have in his family tree—the nation of Israel! What was God doing when he told Abraham to go count stars? He was activating his imagination. It’s like he was saying, “I want you to visualize what I’m going to do in your life.”

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “We fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever” (NLT).

You can’t see the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but they’re going to last for eternity. You can’t see your own soul, but it’s going to last for eternity.

The Bible says you need to focus on the things that will last—the things you can’t actually see with your eyes. So how do you focus on things you can’t see? You use your imagination.

Imagination is more than just creativity and fun. It is God’s gift to you, because he knows you will need it to be able to live by faith.

Cuando Quieres Saber, “¿Cuánto Tiempo, Señor?”

“Fue por la fe que Moisés salió de la tierra de Egipto sin temer el enojo del rey. Siguió firme en su camino porque tenía los ojos puestos en el Invisible”. Hebreos 11:27 (NTV)

Muchas personas sufren de dolor prolongado, ya sea un dolor físico crónico, emocional, espiritual, en las relaciones personales o financiero. Tal vez estés experimentando un sufrimiento prolongado y sientas que tendrás que soportarlo por el resto de tu vida.

Hemos estado hablando los últimos días sobre las pruebas que Dios te da para hacer crecer tu carácter, y esta es otra. Es la prueba de “Cuánto tiempo”, donde preguntas: “¿Cuánto tiempo, Señor?”.

La Biblia cuenta cómo Moisés tenía una persistencia increíble. Soportó un dolor enorme en su vida. Soportó importantes críticas y conflictos. Tenía todo el derecho de decir: “¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?”.

Hebreos 11:24-26 dice: “Fue por la fe que Moisés, cuando ya fue adulto, rehusó llamarse hijo de la hija del faraón. Prefirió ser maltratado con el pueblo de Dios a disfrutar de los placeres momentáneos del pecado. Consideró que era mejor sufrir por causa de Cristo que poseer los tesoros de Egipto, pues tenía la mirada puesta en la gran recompensa que recibiría” (NTV).

Moisés renunció a todo lo que muchas personas pasan su vida tratando de lograr: fama, fortuna, placer, posesiones y posición. Pero los dejó ir porque había puesto su identidad y su fe en Dios. Confió en las promesas de Dios, aun cuando fue maltratado junto con el pueblo de Dios. Pensó que ser deshonrado por causa de Cristo valía más que los tesoros de Egipto, porque “tenía la mirada puesta en la gran recompensa que recibiría”.

En fe siguió persistiendo sin saber cuánto tiempo tendría que aguantar. Y a veces eso es muy difícil. Entonces, ¿cómo continúas en fe cuando estás sufriendo? ¿Cómo se desarrolla la resistencia? ¿Cómo aguantas el dolor prolongado?

Haces lo que hizo Moisés: te acercas a Dios y te mantienes conectado para poder escuchar de Él.

Moisés tenía una zarza ardiente a través de la cual Dios le hablaba. Pero no necesitas una zarza ardiente porque tienes la Biblia. Todo lo que Dios quiere decirte está en la Biblia. Para ti, Dios no lo dirá a través de un arbusto ni lo escribirá en el cielo, porque ya lo escribió en un libro.

Deja de buscar una señal. En su lugar, comienza a buscar un versículo en la Palabra de Dios. Conocer la revelación, las instrucciones y las promesas de Dios, te dará la capacidad de pasar la prueba de “cuánto tiempo” cuando estés pasando por un dolor prolongado.

Como Moisés, mantén tu enfoque donde pertenece. La Biblia dice que Moisés “Siguió firme en su camino porque tenía los ojos puestos en el Invisible” Hebreos 11:27b (NTV).

Si mantienes los ojos en tu dolor, no podrás mirar hacia arriba. Pero si mantienes tus ojos en tu Salvador, vas a atravesar las dificultades con Su gracia.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué tendrás que sacrificar para mantenerte conectado con Dios a través del estudio regular de la Biblia? ¿Vale la pena el sacrificio?Cuando pasas por el sufrimiento, ¿dónde sueles poner tu atención?¿Qué has aprendido acerca de Dios a través del sufrimiento prolongado?

Si nunca has abierto tu vida a Jesucristo, nunca encontrarás la dirección ni tendrás la protección que proviene de una relación con Él.

No necesitas saber lo que va a pasar mañana. No necesitas saber lo que depara el futuro. ¡Solo necesitas saber quién tiene el futuro! Cuando tengas una relación con tu Creador, tendrás la seguridad de su amor y sus promesas inquebrantables.

Si quieres comenzar una relación íntima y para siempre con Jesús, haz esta oración: “Querido Dios, quiero que mi seguridad esté en algo que no me sea quitado. Quiero que mi seguridad esté en mi relación contigo, ya que confío en tu promesa de nunca dejarme. Quiero reclamar esa promesa hoy. Te abro mi vida. Confieso que he vivido la vida a mi manera y he pecado contra ti. Sé que la única forma de conocer a Dios como mi Padre es a través de Jesucristo, quien murió en la cruz para pagar la pena por mi pecado. Por favor, perdóname y sé el Señor de mi vida, cambia mis prioridades, mis valores, mi propósito y mi dirección. Transfórmame en la persona que quieres que sea mientras te entrego mi vida. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

The Best Benefit of Believing

“I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish.”

John 11:25-26 (TLB)

There are a lot of benefits to believing in Jesus and having a relationship with him. But even if God removed all the other benefits, there would still be this, and it’s a pretty big deal: When you believe in Jesus Christ, you are guaranteed eternal life. Your eternity is sealed because of Jesus’ resurrection.

You see, Jesus bringing himself back to life changed everything. It literally split history into A.D. and B.C. It’s the most important event ever. And, it proves three things.

First, it proves that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be. He repeatedly said he was the Son of God who came to die for our sins. And he did just that.

Jesus’ resurrection is one of the most well documented events in history. It would stand up in any court of law. In fact it has many, many times throughout centuries.

The resurrection also proves that Jesus keeps his promises. Jesus told his disciples that he was going to let the people kill him and that he would come back to life. If he kept that promise, then you know you can trust the thousands of other promises God makes in his Word.

The third thing the resurrection proves is that there is life after death. If Jesus Christ hadn’t resurrected, you would have no hope for the future. This life on earth would be all there is—and that’s not worth placing your hope in!

Jesus said in John 11:25-26, “I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish” (TLB).

Where else are you going to get a promise like that? Nowhere! Who else can give that to you? No one! If you don’t get the promise of eternal life from Jesus, then you won’t have it.

That is an amazing benefit, and it’s available to you today. What’s the qualification? You only have to believe.

Talk It Over

Why do you think God wants you to choose to believe in him? Why is salvation not automatic?
What does it mean to you that God keeps his promises?
How does your salvation give you hope?

What is your choice about Jesus?

The Bible says you can only get to heaven by trusting in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. You can’t earn your way into heaven: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, start by praying this prayer:

“Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in your Son, Jesus Christ, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Imposible? Confía en Dios por la Respuesta

“Fue por la fe que hasta Sara pudo tener un hijo, a pesar de ser estéril y demasiado anciana. Ella creyó que Dios cumpliría su promesa”. Hebreos 11:11 (NTV)

Cuando Dios está haciendo crecer tu carácter, a veces te pondrá a prueba con lo que parece ser un problema que no tiene solución. Lo llamo la “prueba de cómo”. Es cuando preguntas: “¿Cómo voy a resolver esto?”.

Dios le dio a Abraham lo que parecía un problema sin solución. Dios le prometió a Abraham que lo trasladaría a un nuevo país, le daría la tierra en ese país y lo convertiría en el padre de una gran nación. También prometió que Abraham tendría tantos hijos, nietos y bisnietos, que poblarían toda la tierra.

En otras palabras, le iba a dar a Abraham, como herencia, una gran nación.

Pero aquí está la cosa: Abraham tenía 75 años y no tenía hijos cuando Dios le dio esta promesa. Se mudó a la tierra de Canaán, que eventualmente se llamaría Israel.

Mientras estuvo allí, siguió esperando que su esposa quedara embarazada. A los 99 años, todavía no tenía un hijo.

Era lo que podría llamarse un problema sin solución.

De hecho, la Biblia dice que cuando Dios les dijo a Abraham y Sara que iban a tener un hijo, se rieron. ¿Cómo iban a tener un hijo?

Esta fue su “prueba de cómo”. Hebreos 11:11 dice: “Fue por la fe que hasta Sara pudo tener un hijo, a pesar de ser estéril y demasiado anciana. Ella creyó que Dios cumpliría su promesa” (NTV). Llamaron a su hijo Isaac, que significa “risa”.

“Así que una nación entera provino de este solo hombre, quien estaba casi muerto en cuanto a tener hijos; una nación con tantos habitantes que, como las estrellas de los cielos y la arena de la orilla del mar, es imposible contar” Hebreos 11:12 (NTV).

¡Dios tuvo la última risa!

Habrá muchos momentos en tu vida en los que Dios te dirá que hagas algo que parece imposible. Pero Él no quiere que entiendas todo o sepas cómo hacer todo. Ni siquiera espera que siempre sepas el próximo paso a dar.

En cambio, Dios quiere que creas que Él lo sabe todo y que resolverá las cosas a su manera y en su tiempo. La fe es esperar un milagro sin saber cómo. Cuando muestras este tipo de fe, creces en carácter y te vuelves más como Jesús.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Por qué crees que Dios no siempre te muestra cómo va a resolver algo en tu vida?¿Crees que Dios hace milagros hoy? ¿Por qué o por qué no?¿Cómo puedes mostrarle a Dios que tienes fe en que Él resolverá tu problema sin solución, aun cuando no entiendas cómo?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Dream Big Because You Have a Big God

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”

Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)

God’s dream for your life is exponentially bigger than any dream you could come up with. Why? Because it’s eternally significant.

There are a lot of dreams you could have that may seem big, but they wouldn’t be significant. You could dream of being a millionaire by a certain age, but for what purpose? Do you think God put you on this planet to live for yourself? Of course not! God’s dream for your life is bigger than your dream.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” (MSG).

Think of the biggest dream for your life that you’ve ever come up with, even if you didn’t follow through on it. What’s the most out-there vision you’ve had that seemed almost impossible? Well, guess what: God’s dream for you is even bigger. It’s “far more than you could ever imagine.”

Dream your biggest dream. Think of your greatest vision. God can top it!

You have no idea what God wants to do through you. You are living such a small fraction of what you’re capable of. You are doing with your life such a small portion of what God wants to do in your life.

God wants you to dream big. But he wants you to base your dream not on what you think you can do but on what you think God can do. He wants you to use the imagination that he gave you, because dreaming big honors him. It shows faith. It shows trust.

Many years ago Saddleback Church purchased 120 acres of land for our campus. That’s bigger than Disneyland! When word got out, people said, “What kind of church is this that’s going to go buy 120 acres of Orange County property? Who do those people think they are?”

When I heard that, I said, “That’s the wrong question. The question should be, ‘Who do we think God is?’” We were dreaming big, because we knew God had a big plan for Saddleback.

He’s got big plans for you too. Let the size of your God determine the size of your goal.

Do you have a hard time accepting that God’s dream for your life is bigger and better than your biggest and best dream? If so, why?
Take some time to pray and ask God how he wants you to expand and refine your goals so that they reflect your trust in his great vision for you and for the world.
