Money Is Not Your Biggest Problem

Every time we worry about money, we’re acting like we don’t believe in God. It’s a way of saying, “It all depends on me.” That’s just not in the Bible.

Worry is a warning light that we doubt the love of God. Yet the Bible says God “provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever” (Psalm 111:5 NIV).

And the book of Romans tells us that God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for you to pay for your salvation. If God loves you enough to send his own Son to die for you, surely he loves you enough to take care of your bills.

God solved your biggest problem when he saved you, so any other problem is minor in comparison. The bottom line is really this: Do you believe that God will do what he says he will do—that he will provide for you?

Are you willing to ask God for the things you need, rather than going out and charging for them?

Are you willing to learn to be content?

Are you willing to worship with your tithe as God has commanded and believe that he’s going to take care of your needs?

Are you willing to live with integrity and be honest in your finances?

Are you willing to trust Jesus Christ completely with every area of your life?

If you’re serious about being set free from financial fears, you must choose to do what God has clearly told you to do. He’s laid it out in his Word. He said, “I will do this, the promise, if you will obey the premise.”

Make the choice today to be a faithful steward of the money and resources you have so that God can use you for his purposes.

Dios es Consciente y se Preocupa

“Tan compasivo es el Señor con los que le temen como lo es un padre con sus hijos.” Salmo 103:13 (NVI)

 

Dios es cuidadoso, amoroso, padre compasivo. Él te ama más de lo que nunca llegaras a comprender. Él te ama más de lo que podrás entender. Dios es amor, y él te hizo para amarte. El demuestra su amor por ti en cada cosa que hace, y su compasión es su cualidad más sobresaliente. Dios es un padre que se preocupa.

 

La Biblia dice en el Salmo 103:13 “Tan compasivo es el Señor con los que le temen como lo es un padre con sus hijos” (NVI). Él se preocupa compasivamente por todo en tu vida.

 

La mayoría de los discípulos eran pescadores profesionales. Un día cuando ellos estaban pescando Jesús, que estaba cansado se recostó en uno de los bordes del bote y se fue a dormir. Cuando una tormenta llego, esto no debió haber molestado a los discípulos. Como pescadores, ellos estaban acostumbrados a las tormentas. Pero esta debe haber sido una muy grande, porque realmente se asustaron. El bote se balanceaba y se agitaba, y el agua entraba en él. Ellos estaban nerviosos y despertaron a Jesús para hacerle una de las preguntas más importantes de la vida “Señor, ¿no te importa?”

 

Tú y yo le hemos hecho esta pregunta a Dios todo el tiempo y de muchas formas: Dios, ves el reporte del médico ¿No te importa? Ves el desastre en el que está mi matrimonio ¿No te importa? Ves el poco dinero que tenemos en nuestra cuenta bancaria y todas las facturas por pagar que tenemos ¿No te importa? Ves como mis hijos están teniendo dificultades en el colegio ¿No te importa? Tú conoces este miedo que se aferra a mi mente y del cual parezco no poder deshacerme. ¿No te importa?

 

La respuesta es sí, a Dios le importa. De hecho, a él le importa más que a ti. Él quiere ayudarte más de lo que tú quieres su ayuda. Él sabe que es lo que te ayudara más de lo que tú lo sabes. Él está consciente y le importa.

 

“Pongan todas sus preocupaciones y ansiedades en las manos de Dios, porque él cuida de ustedes” (1 Pedro 5:7 NTV).

 

Si tú supieras y pudieras sentir cuanto tu Padre Celestial se preocupa compasivamente y constantemente por ti, tendrías que amar a él también. Si sientes que Dios está a miles de kilómetros lejos de ti, es porque no entiendes la clase de Padre amoroso que él realmente es. Ese entendimiento es el primer paso para tu paz interior.

Ask God for Help with Your Finances

Philippians 4:19 is an amazing and all-encompassing promise regarding provision. Note these two words: “God will.” It doesn’t say, “He might meet your needs.” It says, “He will take care of your needs.” It’s written as a fact. God is staking his character and his reputation on it.

Then the verse says, “God will take care of everything.” It doesn’t say, “God will meet some of your needs.” It says he’s got them all covered.

Now, it doesn’t say, “God will meet all your greeds.” There’s a big difference between needs and wants. If you’re a parent, do you give your kids everything they want? I hope not. You don’t do that because you love them—and your heavenly Father loves you. He’s not going to give you everything you want, because if he did, you’d be spoiled to death.

He won’t give you everything you want, but he will give you what you need.

Then why do you have financial needs? Did God fail? Did he lie? Did he exaggerate?

No! With every promise, there is a premise; there are conditions and requirements. When God makes a promise, he says, “I’ll do my part, and you do your part.” God’s financial principles are clearly laid out for us in his Word. The Bible discusses many aspects of financial health, including principles of saving, spending, giving, investing, and stewardship. God has given you everything you need for financial stability.

But first, you need to ask for his help. Jesus says, “Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy” (John 16:24 NLT).

Many people depend more on their credit card than on Jesus Christ. Here’s a good rule: Before you pay for it, pray for it. Give God a chance to provide before you go out and charge it. Ask him for wisdom to make a good financial decision.

Why does God want you to ask? So he can give. Why does he want to give? So you can receive.

Why does he want you to receive? So you’ll be full of joy.

There is great joy in being obedient to God’s Word when it comes to your finances. God will take care of you. Just ask him!

El Cristianismo: Un Sistema de Pertenencia

“Todos ustedes podrán unirse en una sola voz para dar alabanza y gloria a Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Por lo tanto, acéptense unos a otros, tal como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes, para que Dios reciba la gloria.” Romanos 15:6-7 (NTV)

Hay solo dos maneras de entrar en una familia: puedes nacer en ella o puedes ser adoptado por ella. ¡Dios hace las dos cosas por ti! Se llama nacer de nuevo y se llama ser adoptado en la familia de Dios. Dios hace ambas.

En la ley romana, que era la vigente en el Nuevo Testamento, uno podía desheredar a un hijo nacido en la familia y no reconocerlo más como miembro de ella. Pero si adoptabas a un hijo, eso estaba prohibido. Dios no solo dice que has nacido de nuevo en su familia, sino también que fuiste adoptado, y no hay forma de deshacer esa adopción. ¡Son buenas noticias!

Tal vez te preguntes, “¿No importa lo que haga? ¿De verdad?” Correcto – no importa lo que hagas.

Una vez que naciste, no puedes des nacer. Una vez que naciste de nuevo no puedes des nacer de nuevo. Puedes afligir a tu Padre, de la misma manera que muchas veces hacemos con nuestros padres terrenales. La relación puede romperse, pero no importa lo que digan nuestros padres, todo el mundo sabe que sigues siendo su hijo. De la misma manera, una vez que te convertiste en hijo en la familia de Dios, estás adentro.

La Biblia dice en 1 Timoteo 3:15, “Para que, si me retraso, sepas cómo debe portarse uno en la familia de Dios, que es la iglesia del Dios viviente” (DHH). Somos la familia de Dios. La iglesia no es algo a lo que vas. La iglesia es algo a lo que perteneces. Estás sellado al edificio del templo de Dios. Estás injertado en la rama y el árbol de la vida. Eres nacido de nuevo y adoptado en la familia de Dios. Estás unido al cuerpo de Cristo. Todos éstos son modelos de conexión.

La mayoría de las personas piensa que el cristianismo es un sistema de creencias. Hay creencias que están involucradas, pero es mucho más. Es un Sistema de pertenencia. Significa que perteneces a la familia de Dios. Significa que eres parte del cuerpo de Cristo.

La Biblia dice que es como nacer en una familia.

Romanos 15:6-7 dice, “Todos ustedes podrán unirse en una sola voz para dar alabanza y gloria a Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Por lo tanto, acéptense unos a otros, tal como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes, para que Dios reciba la gloria” (NTV).

God Is Working It Out for Good

Life often brings moments that are difficult to swallow, like a sickness, a job loss, or the death of a friend or family member. Those pills are bitter going down, and we often choke on them.

Rest assured, God is up to something good in your life, even if you can’t see it. To hold on to hope in the midst of tough times, you’ll need to grab ahold of this truth.

The Bible says it this way: “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Romans 8:28 NLT).

The Bible isn’t saying that every event in your life will be good. You and I both know that’s just not true. But it does mean that when you put your whole life together, every piece of it works together for good. It’s like making a cake. You may not like the taste of each ingredient, but when it’s all put together, it comes out tasting good. God wants to bake an amazingly tasty cake with your life, and he wants to use even the distasteful and bitter elements to do it.

God also doesn’t say that everything works together like we want it to or that every story will have a happy ending. Not every business decision will make a million dollars. Not every couple that gets married lives happily ever after. Not every child will become captain of the football team.

Instead, this verse reminds us that we can have absolute confidence that the Master Designer of the universe causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God.

Hope isn’t the same as optimism. It isn’t the belief that something bad will turn out well. It’s the absolute confidence that every part of your life ultimately makes sense, regardless of how it turns out this side of eternity.

From our vantage point, life looks like a mess at times. But God’s view from heaven isn’t the same as ours.

You can’t even imagine the good that God has in store for your future. You can trust him with your present circumstances and your future, because he is always working for your good.

The Only Place to Find Hope

In 1927 an American submarine collided with a Coast Guard vessel off the coast of Provincetown, Mass., and began to sink. The Coast Guard and Navy sent divers to assess the damage and begin a rescue operation. As the divers got close to the submarine, they heard a sailor tapping on the hull in Morse code. He asked, “Is there hope?”

That’s a fundamental question of life. It’s asked every day by countless people in countless ways: when sitting in the doctor’s office awaiting test results, when a couple puts months and months into counseling and gets nowhere, when dealing with a tax accountant in bankruptcy court, or when a family hears their child is missing.

You can survive 40 days without food, three days without water, and eight minutes without air. But you can’t last a single second without hope. It’s an essential part of life. When hope is gone, life is over.

People everywhere are looking for hope in all the wrong places. They look for it in their relationships, in self-help books, in religion, and in self-righteousness.

But there is only one place to find real hope. The Bible says real hope is found by turning to God: “May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13 GW).

You need that kind of hope. And it’s only available through a relationship with Jesus Christ. When you trust in him, the Holy Spirit works in you to fill you with hope that God is in control, he loves you, and he is working for your good.

That kind of hope will lift you from despair and give you room to breathe.

Para dar Frutos, Conéctate

“Permanezcan en mí, y yo permaneceré en ustedes. Pues una rama no puede producir fruto si la cortan de la vid, y ustedes tampoco pueden ser fructíferos a menos que permanezcan en mí.” (Juan 15:4 (NTV)

Justo antes de ir a la cruz, Jesús dio las instrucciones de último minuto a sus seguidores: “Permanezcan en mí, y yo permaneceré en ustedes. Pues una rama no puede producir fruto si la cortan de la vid, y ustedes tampoco pueden ser fructíferos a menos que permanezcan en mí” (Juan 15:4 NTV).

 

Jesús dice que estar conectado espiritualmente es como estar ligado a una vid. No vas a tener fruto ni productividad alguna en tu vida si andas por tu propia cuenta. Tienes que estar conectado.

 

En las plantas, una rama desgajada no puede producir fruto. No sólo careces de apoyo y empiezas a marchitarte y morir, sino también no vas a tener productividad alguna en tu vida si no estás espiritualmente conectado.

 

Cada primavera planto muchas verduras y frutas. Si corto una rama, esa rama no va a producir tomates ni nada más. Tiene que estar conectada para producir frutos.

 

¿Qué tipo de frutos deberías producir cuando estás conectado al cuerpo de Cristo? “el fruto del Espíritu es amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, bondad, fidelidad, humildad y dominio propio” (Gálatas 5:22-23a NVI).

 

No sé tú, pero a mí me gustaría ser más amoroso. Me gustaría ser más alegre y gozoso. Me gustaría estar más en paz, independientemente del curso de la economía. Me gustaría ser más amable con las personas que no me tratan bien. Me gustaría ser una persona buena. Quiero ser fiel, no infiel. Quiero guardar y cumplir mis promesas. Me gustaría ser gentil y humilde con las personas que no lo son. Y me gustaría tener más dominio propio.

 

Esto es llamado el fruto del Espíritu, y es la evidencia de que tú estás conectado espiritualmente. Si no estás viendo que creces en cualquiera de esas áreas, ¿sabes qué? Significa que no estás conectado espiritualmente.

 

Él está diciendo que esto es tan importante que no sólo necesitas apoyo como una construcción, y no sólo necesitas la sangre que da vida como en un cuerpo; está diciendo que no vas a tener frutos o productividad alguna en tu vida si estás por tu propia cuenta. Tienes que mantenerte conectado. ¡Y la buena noticia es que Dios quiere que estés conectado! ¡Dios está de tu lado!

¿En cuáles “frutos” necesitas crecer? ¿Cómo lo vas a conseguir?
¿Qué beneficios has visto en tu propia vida al estar conectado con el cuerpo de Cristo?

Sus Oraciones tienen un Impacto

“Puesto que sabemos que Dios nos oye, tengamos la certeza de que él nos dará cualquier cosa que le pidamos.” 1 Juan 5:15 (PDT)

¿Te has preguntado alguna vez si tu oración realmente funciona? Estás orando acerca de algo y Satanás te susurra, “Esto es una pérdida de tiempo. ¡Olvídalo! ¿Quién piensas que eres? ¿Qué crees que estás haciendo? Dios no está escuchando. No pierdas tu tiempo.”

La oración funciona porque Dios está en control. La base de todos los milagros es la soberanía de Dios. ¿Por qué Él hace unos milagros y otros no? Porque Dios está en control. Tenemos que confiar en su sabiduría y en su bondad.

Efesios 3:20 dice, “Por el poder de Dios que obra en nosotros, él puede hacer mucho más de lo que jamás podríamos pedir o imaginar” (PDT).

La oración puede hacer cualquier cosa que Dios pueda hacer. Sus recursos están disponibles para ti. Veinte veces en el Nuevo Testamento lo dice, “Pide” Esto es motivándote a saber que las cosas que están fuera de mi control no están fuera del control de Dios. Puede ser que yo no sea capaz de cambiar una situación, pero puedo orar, y Dios puede cambiarla.

Sé exactamente lo que algunos de ustedes están pensando ahora mismo: “Si puedo orar y pedir a Dios que cambie cosas, y si Dios está realmente en control de todo, ¿por qué yo no he obtenido todo por lo que he orado?” Buena pregunta. Aquí están tres razones:

Dios no es un genio. No puedes tan solo hacer una oración y obtener cualquier cosa que quieras. Si cada oración fuera contestada, seriamos como niños mimados. ¿Le das a tus hijos cualquier cosa que ellos te piden? Espero que no. Tú sabes lo que es mejor para ellos. Tú puedes ver el panorama más grande. Si puedes ver un panorama más grande para tus hijos, ¿cuánto más grande es el panorama que Dios puede ver?

Algunas veces los cristianos oran en conflicto. Si dos cristianos están orando por el campeonato de futbol por dos equipos diferentes, ¿a quién Dios le va a contestar? Obviamente, Dios no puede contestar cada oración al mismo tiempo.

Pero yo pienso que la razón real es esta:

Dios conoce lo que es mejor, y tú no. Si piensas que lo sabes, eso es muy presuntuoso. La Biblia nos dice, “La seguridad que tenemos al estar unidos a Dios es esta: Dios escucha nuestras oraciones cuando le pedimos conforme a su voluntad” (1 Juan 5:14 PDT). Mira la frase “conforme a su voluntad.” La actitud de tu oración necesita ser: “Señor, esta es mi petición de oración, pero hágase tu voluntad.” Eso es lo que Jesús oró en Lucas 22:42, “Padre, si quieres, no me hagas beber este trago amargo; pero no se cumpla mi voluntad, sino la tuya.”

¿Por qué es importante que Dios sea bueno y soberano?
“La oración puede hacer cualquier cosa que Dios puede hacer. “¿Cómo tus oraciones reflejan lo que tú crees sobre la soberanía de Dios?
¿Cómo puedes mostrarle a Dios que tu deseas y confías en su voluntad y no en la tuya?

When You Pray for Relief, Worship First

Life includes times when you feel like you’re in an impossible situation, when you feel like you’re being attacked from all sides. That’s what happened to Israel’s King Jehoshaphat, who prayed to God when he faced armies from three different nations. To get through those times, you need to learn how to model your prayers after Jehoshaphat’s so that you can get relief.

Jehoshaphat did three things in 2 Chronicles 20 that you can do, too:

Refocus on God. Even with your problem looming before you, shift your focus to God’s character and promises. Jehoshaphat prayed, “God, you’re bigger than all the nations. You are bigger than anything I will ever face.” Your problems may be too big for you to handle, but they will never be too big for God. Change your perspective by shifting your focus.

Remember God’s faithfulness in the past. Jehoshaphat recalled all the ways God had worked in Israel’s past. Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past will help you trust him for the future. You need to recall the times God has worked powerfully in your life.

Request God’s help. Jehoshaphat essentially prayed, “My problems aren’t too hard for you, God. You’ve helped us in the past. Please do it again!” God loves you, and he cares about your problems.

Jehoshaphat’s prayer is built around three questions: “Are you not God?” “Did you not help us in the past?” and “Will you not do it again?”

When you are overwhelmed, you need God’s help. But it’s important to understand that your Father isn’t a vending machine who gives you whatever you want just because you’ve deposited a few prayers. God wants your worship first. You worship when you focus on him and thank him for his faithfulness. Then you pray and ask for his help.

Jehoshaphat was faithful to worship the Lord and ask him for help, and God delivered him from his enemies. God will do the same for you.

God Can Provide Through Any Faucet

The Bible teaches that God is the source of our finances. He is the one who provides for our needs.

What does this mean? It means that instead of looking to your employer for financial security, you look to God. It means that instead of looking to your savings account for financial security, you look to God. It means that you don’t look to anyone or anything other than God to provide for your needs.

Let me illustrate it this way: When you turn on the water, you know the water doesn’t actually come from the faucet. The water comes through the faucet. The water actually comes from a reservoir or a well, and the way you happen to receive it is through the faucet.

In the same way, the income that God wants to give you may come through a job or through something or someone else.

But the source is always God.

You don’t need to worry about which faucet God uses to supply your needs. In a sense he says, “If I turn off one faucet, I can just as easily turn on another. If you lose one job, I can give you another. Your job isn’t your source. Your bank account isn’t your source. I am your source.”

Worry reveals the places where we aren’t trusting God. Ask God to help you understand what causes you to not trust him, and ask him to teach you to start trusting him. Look for how he does that. And when you start to worry, talk to God about your concerns.
