Lo que Significa estar Perdido
“El Hijo del hombre vino a buscar a los perdidos y a salvarlos”. Lucas 19:10 (PDT)
Si no entiendes el propósito de la Navidad, bien podrías prescindir de las luces de Navidad y las decoraciones este año. También podrías olvidarte de comprar regalos de Navidad. También podrías olvidarte de la cena de Navidad.
Si no sabes por qué celebramos la Navidad, celebrar las festividades no tiene sentido.
Para encontrar el propósito de la Navidad, hay que avanzar rápidamente más allá del pesebre, los Reyes Magos y los pastores. Jesús nos dijo la razón por la que vino a la Tierra en la primera Navidad: “El Hijo del hombre vino a buscar a los perdidos y a salvarlos” Lucas 19:10 (PDT).
En pocas palabras, Jesús vino porque la gente está perdida sin Dios. Estar espiritualmente perdido significa estar separados de Dios, desconectados y fuera de servicio. Sin Jesús, todos en el mundo están perdidos —no importa cuánto poder, riqueza o fama tengan.
Y nuestra perdición tiene enormes ramificaciones en nuestras vidas. Para saber por qué Jesús vino a la Tierra, tenemos que entender lo que significa estar perdidos.
Sin Dios, hemos perdido:
Nuestra dirección. Estamos inclinados a tener poca comprensión sobre a dónde debemos ir y lo que debemos hacer en esta vida.Su protección. Nosotros estamos por nuestra cuenta cuando no estamos bajo la protección del Señor. Eso es una gran razón por la que muchas personas están estresadas. Están tratando de vivir bajo su propio cuidado y protección en lugar del de Dios.Nuestro potencial. Nunca sabremos ni la mitad de los dones y talentos que tenemos, si no estamos en una relación con Él.Nuestra felicidad. Podemos tener todo el dinero y el poder en el mundo, pero sin Dios nunca tendremos la verdadera alegría.Nuestro hogar en el Cielo. Dios nos permite rebelarnos mientras estamos aquí en la Tierra, pero no hay rebelión en el Cielo.Pero alguien que está perdido no ha perdido una onza de valor para Dios. Incluso si no tienes una relación con Él, tienes un valor inmenso para Dios. Estar perdido implica valor. Lo que alguien está dispuesto a pagar para recuperar algo que ha perdido muestra lo valioso que eso es.
En el versículo más famoso de la Biblia, Jesús explica claramente nuestro valor: “Dios amó tanto al mundo que dio a su único Hijo, para que todo el que crea en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna” Juan 3:16 (NTV).
La buena noticia es que Dios nos amó tanto que envió a su Hijo a la Tierra en la primera Navidad para buscarnos y salvarnos. ¡Esa es una buena razón para celebrar!

Grow in the Light of God’s Word
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
John 8:12 (NLT)
As a vegetable gardener, I can tell you that the more hours of light you have, the bigger your crops will grow. For more than 30 years, I’ve used a special light bulb for gardening called a grow light. It emits a certain kind of light that causes plants and trees to grow. You use it in areas where there isn’t enough light for plants to survive. I planted young redwood trees on the shady side of my house and used the grow lights on them until they got tall enough to get sunlight on their own. Today those trees are about 40 feet tall.
Light is the key to life. Every plant grows by photosynthesis, which is dependent upon light. Humans depend on light to see and for our body’s systems to function normally. No light, no power. No light, no growth. You can’t live without light.
What’s true of light in the physical realm is also true in the spiritual realm. On your dark days, when the sun is hidden and you can’t see the light, you need the light of Jesus to change you for the better.
There are two ways that you change: when you see the light and when you feel the heat. One of those ways is far less painful than the other. If you would just change when you see the light, then you wouldn’t have to change when you feel the heat.
Do you want to know what your grow light is? It’s God’s Word. Studying God’s Word will help you grow in your knowledge of God and love for him.
Ephesians 1:16-17 says, “I pray for you constantly, asking God to . . . give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow” (NLT). When you know God’s Word, his light will flood your heart. Then you’ll understand the wonderful future God has promised you.
In the Bible, light and life go hand in hand: “You are the giver of life. Your light lets us enjoy life” (Psalm 36:9 NCV).
Life is meant to be enjoyed, not merely endured, not just at Christmas but all year long. The key is to live in God’s light.
That’s why Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12 NLT).

Elige una Vida Mejor
“Mira, aquí estoy llamando a la puerta. Si alguien escucha mi voz y abre la puerta, entraré, cenaré con él y él conmigo”. Apocalipsis 3:20 (PDT)
Cuando yo era niño, mi madre me dio de comer Spaghetti (pasta enlatada americana) y ¡pensaba que era la mejor comida! Después descubrí las hamburguesas de In-N-Out (cadena de hamburguesas americana). Entonces fui de la buena vida a una mejor vida. Los Espaguetis eran buenos, pero una jugosa hamburguesa de In-N-Out es mucho mejor.
Podrías pensar que tienes una buena vida ahora, pero si pudieras tener una vida aún mucho mejor, ¿no te gustaría saberlo?
Lamentablemente, lo que nos impide obtener esa mejor vida es un sentimiento irracional de autosuficiencia. Creemos que estamos haciéndolo muy bien por nuestra propia cuenta.
Salmos 10:4 dice: “Los malvados son demasiado orgullosos para buscar a Dios; parece que piensan que Dios está muerto” (NTV).
Al igual que el encargado de la posada en la primera historia de la Navidad (Lucas 2), no creemos que necesitemos más huéspedes. Creemos que tenemos todo lo que necesitamos.
Sólo hay un problema con esa clase de arrogancia: desaprovechas la misma razón por la que Dios te creó. Dios te creó para que pudieras tener una relación con Él. Nunca cumplirás tu propósito en tu vida, que es mucho más grande y más importante de lo que te puedes imaginar, a menos que estés conectado con Dios, la verdadera fuente de poder.
Pero la buena noticia es que no es demasiado tarde. Tú puedes tener una relación con Él, no importa lo que ha sucedido en el pasado, no importa cuántas veces lo has rechazado antes.
Dios lo hizo tan simple que cualquiera lo puede entender. Son sólo tres palabras: invítalo a entrar.
Jesús dijo, “Mira, aquí estoy llamando a la puerta. Si alguien escucha mi voz y abre la puerta, entraré, cenaré con él y él conmigo” Apocalipsis 3:20 (PDT).
Jesús está llamando a tu puerta. Elige una mejor vida permitiéndole entrar. Permítele ser el administrador general de tu vida.
Cambiará todo.

The Only Way to Get a Fresh Start
“In the past you were full of darkness, but now you are full of light in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light. Light brings every kind of goodness, right living, and truth.”
Ephesians 5:8-9 (NCV)
Several years ago, New York City officials built a water disinfection facility using ultraviolet light to destroy germs and disinfect the city’s drinking water, which is funneled in from about 100 miles away. Instead of using chlorine, the system uses the sun’s power to disinfect and sanitize water using light rays. They disinfect over 1 billion gallons of water every day.
Light is a great disinfectant. It cleanses, sanitizes, and purifies.
The light of God works in a similar way in your life. Harmful words, thoughts, and actions make you spiritually, emotionally, and sometimes physically sick. When you confess your sins to God, his forgiveness sanitizes, purifies, and cleanses you.
The Bible says it like this: “If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:6-7 NIV).
So many people today are going through dark days because they’re carrying a load of guilt, shame, and regret. They may look successful on the outside, but inside they’re tormented by their secrets.
Is there a way to wipe the slate clean? Is there a way to get a fresh start? Yes, it’s called being born again. That doesn’t mean you turn over a new leaf and try harder. It means you get a brand-new life, where everything is forgiven. Everything is cleansed by the light of Christ, and the darkness of regret and shame is lifted.
Ephesians 5:8-9 describes what it means to be completely cleansed and forgiven of your sin and born again: “In the past you were full of darkness, but now you are full of light in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light. Light brings every kind of goodness, right living, and truth” (NCV).
What secret regret, guilt, or shame in your life needs to be cleansed and disinfected? Just expose it to the light of Christ. Then you can move forward, full of hope in Jesus, the Light of the World.

Conoce a Tu Creador
“No les hemos cerrado nuestro corazón, aunque ustedes sí nos han cerrado el suyo. Por tanto les pido, como de un padre a sus hijos, correspondan del mismo modo y ábrannos su corazón”. 2 Corintios 6:12-13 (RVC)
En esta época del año todos tenemos muchas cosas importantes que hacer. Tenemos informes que escribir. Comidas que planear para las fiestas. Y, por cierto, regalos que comprar.
Pero tú tienes algo mucho más importante en que enfocarte durante esta Navidad: desarrollar una relación personal y constante con Jesús.
¿Por qué deberías conocer mejor a Jesús? Hay por lo menos dos razones muy importantes.
En primer lugar, Jesús te creó. La Biblia dice: “En el principio la Palabra ya existía. La Palabra estaba con Dios, y la Palabra era Dios. El que es la Palabra existía en el principio con Dios. Dios creó todas las cosas por medio de él, y nada fue creado sin él. La Palabra le dio vida a todo lo creado, y su vida trajo luz a todos” Juan 1:1-4 (NTV).
Tienes la oportunidad no sólo de encontrarte con el Creador del universo, sino también de encontrarte con tu Creador. Seguramente has escuchado decir: “Cuando tengas dudas, consulta el manual”. Conocer a Jesús es incluso mejor. Si quieres saber cómo obtener lo mejor de la vida, ¿por qué no conocer a Aquel que te ha creado?
En segundo lugar, Jesús hace que tu corazón disfrute una vida de propósito, paz y poder. Una relación con Jesús te asegura un lugar en el Cielo, pero hace más que eso. Dios promete una vida de propósito, paz y poder a todos los que le conocen.
Conocer a Jesús personalmente cambia completamente la forma en que vives. Propósito, paz y poder son sólo el comienzo de lo que Dios quiere darte en esta vida.
Desafortunadamente, la mayoría de las personas están viviendo de manera insignificante y pequeña, porque se han llenado de actividades sin sentido.
Conforme se acerca la Navidad, piensa en el encargado de la posada que no acogió a Jesús en la primera Navidad. Sus acciones no impidieron que Jesús naciera. Sus acciones no detuvieron el propósito de Dios en la historia. Sus acciones solamente le lastimaron a él. Perdió el privilegio de acoger al Hijo de Dios en su nacimiento.
Lo mismo es cierto para ti. Si no dedicas tiempo para conocer a Jesús, pierdes la oportunidad de conocer a tu Creador. Pierdes la oportunidad de tener el propósito, la paz y el poder que sólo vienen por medio del Hijo de Dios. Pierdes Su propósito para tu vida si nunca haces lugar para Él.

Jesus Came to Light Up Your Life
“The darkness in our lives disappears and the new light of life in Christ shines in.”
1 John 2:8 (TLB)
Why does God talk so much about light in the Bible? Because God is light. When he is Savior and Lord of your life, the light of his love gives you hope in the dark days: “The darkness in our lives disappears and the new light of life in Christ shines in” (1 John 2:8 TLB).
So here’s my question for you: Are you ready to exchange your darkness and the dark days you’re going through for God’s light? This is what Christmas is all about! Jesus came to light up your life.
Jesus didn’t come alive at Christmas. He has always existed, because he’s God: “Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God” (John 1:1 TLB). Jesus has been in existence for eternity. He created everything. Eternal life is in him, and this life gives light to all mankind. His life is the light that shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
You see, when you try to live your life without God, you live it in the dark. It’s why things don’t make sense to you—because you don’t have the illumination of the Holy Spirit at work in your life. It’s why you’re burdened with negative emotions. It’s why you’re not healed of the brokenness in your life. And it’s why you stop growing.
This Christmas, it’s time to flip the switch and let the light of Christ into your life—not just for your dark days but for all your days.
Do you want to trade darkness for light in your life? Pray this simple prayer:
“Dear God, I’ve had many dark days in my life, and I know now that I need your light in my life. I need your light to heal me, guide me, comfort me, and warm me. I confess that I have sinned against you, and I ask for your forgiveness. I need your light to help me grow. As much as I know how, Jesus Christ, I open my life to the light of your love. I want to accept you as God’s Christmas gift to me. I want to learn to follow you and trust you. And I humbly ask you to accept me into your family by grace—not because I deserve it but because I put my faith in your love and your light. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

No Dejes a Jesús Fuera de la Navidad
“Mi apreciada Marta, ¡estás preocupada y tan inquieta con todos los detalles! Hay una sola cosa por la que vale la pena preocuparse. María la ha descubierto, y nadie se la quitará”. Lucas 10:41-42 (NTV)
Nos gusta saturar nuestras vidas. Nos sobrecargamos, gastos excesivos, nos sobreestimamos, y muchas veces nos sentimos cansados. Como resultado de esto, la verdad de Dios no puede florecer en nuestras vidas.
Dios siempre te enseña muchas verdades —tal vez a través del estudio de la Biblia en la mañana o en el sermón del domingo— y piensas que necesitas hacer algo al respecto, pero casi inmediatamente lo dejas fuera de tu vida y lo olvidas.
La verdad no ha sido dejada fuera de tu vida a causa de la maldad. Incluso, las cosas buenas en nuestra vida dejan fuera la verdad que Dios quiere plantar en nosotros. Para cumplir el destino de Dios en tu vida, no tienes que hacer mucho; tienes que hacer menos.
Toma como ejemplo a las amigas de Jesús, María y Marta. En una ocasión, ellas invitaron a cenar a Jesús. María pasó la tarde escuchando a Jesús. Por otro lado, Marta, estaba ocupada siendo una buena anfitriona y preocupándose por la comida y que todo estuviera en su lugar.
Marta estaba molesta porque ella tenía que hacer todo el trabajo, mientras María su hermana, estaba sentada con Jesús. Así que Jesús le dijo: “Mi apreciada Marta, ¡estás preocupada y tan inquieta con todos los detalles! Hay una sola cosa por la que vale la pena preocuparse. María la ha descubierto, y nadie se la quitará” Lucas 10:41b-42 (NTV).
Cuando tu vida se haya terminado, sólo hay una cosa que realmente importará: ¿Llegaste a conocer al Hijo de Dios? Los regalos de Navidad que pudiste comprar al trabajar largas horas en la oficina, eso no importará. Todo el tiempo que gastas preparando una cena perfecta para navidad, tampoco importará. Pero si pasas tu tiempo conociendo a Jesús, esto sí importará por siglos y siglos.
Así que, disfruta la época de Navidad. Envuelve los regalos. Prepara tu hogar de manera festiva. Construye momentos con tu familia. Pero no permitas que esta Navidad llegue, sin antes pasar tiempo a los pies de Jesús. Mientras todo lo demás desaparece después de esta Navidad, adorar a Jesús es lo único que realmente perdurará.

You’ll Find God’s Light in God’s Word
“For anyone out there who doesn't know where you're going, anyone groping in the dark, here's what: Trust in GOD. Lean on your God!”
Isaiah 50:10 (The Message)
On dark days, you need the light of Jesus. On days when you can’t see the way forward, when you’re confused or undecided, when you don’t know what’s best, when you can’t figure out what to do next—you need his light.
When you’re confused, well-meaning people will tell you, “Trust yourself. Just follow your instincts!” But anybody who’s tried that knows, at best, you’re right only about 50 percent of the time.
Your perspective is limited. Your light is weak. It’s like using one of those tiny pen lights that fit on a key chain—they don’t really illuminate anything. And as a result of relying only on yourself, you’ve probably had difficulty making good decisions.
Instead, here’s what the Bible says to do: “For anyone out there who doesn’t know where you’re going, anyone groping in the dark, here’s what: Trust in GOD. Lean on your God!” (Isaiah 50:10 The Message)
Don’t count on your own light. Trust the light of the Lord.
If you want to have God’s perspective and viewpoint on your problems, then you need to get into the Bible. You need to read and study and saturate your mind and heart with it, because God’s will is always found in God’s Word.
I’m always amazed at how many people are waiting around for God to give them a sign instead of just reading the directions that he’s already given them. If you want to stay on the right path this coming year, then you’ve got to get into the Bible.
God promises to guide you if you’ll let him. He says, “I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way, who can’t see where they’re going. I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I’ll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don’t fall into the ditch. These are the things I’ll be doing for them—sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute” (Isaiah 42:16 The Message).
Let God be your personal guide, starting right now. You’ll never have to stumble around in the dark if you let the light of his Word light up your life.

Reconoce a Jesús en esta Navidad
“Si tan solo supieras el regalo que Dios tiene para ti y con quién estás hablando, tú me pedirías a mí, y yo te daría agua viva”. Juan 4:10 (NTV)
Ahora mismo hay ondas de televisión y radio a tu alrededor. Si tuvieras un sintonizador, podrías ver lo que hay en esas ondas. Pero el hecho de que no puedas verlas no significa que no sean reales. Simplemente no estás sintonizado.
Así fue en Belén la noche de la primera Navidad. A pesar de que Belén contaba con una posada con el único fin de atender a los viajeros, en esa posada no había sitio para la que sin duda era la familia de viajeros más importante de Belén aquella noche.
En esta Navidad, no dejes de ver un importante paralelismo de esta historia con nuestros propios corazones. Tu corazón fue hecho para hospedar a Dios. Fuiste hecho por Dios y para Dios. Hasta que no entiendas eso, la vida no tendrá sentido. Desafortunadamente, llenamos nuestras vidas con otras cosas. Invitamos a otros huéspedes a nuestra casa. Nuestro corazón se llena de otras ideas, intereses, valores, amores y compromisos.
Nuestras vidas están tan llenas que ni siquiera nos damos cuenta de cuándo aparece Jesús a nuestro alrededor. Dios aparece en nuestras vidas todo el tiempo, proporcionando oportunidades que nunca pensamos que tendríamos, en medio de problemas que no sabíamos que íbamos a tener. Pero a menudo, simplemente no lo vemos.
Esto sucedía en la Biblia todo el tiempo. Jesús se presentaba y hablaba con personas que nunca se dieron cuenta de quién era. En el libro de Juan, Jesús estaba sentado junto a un pozo cuando una mujer se le acercó, buscando agua. Ella no reconoció a Jesús. De hecho, ¡se metió en un debate religioso con el Hijo de Dios! Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Si tan solo supieras el regalo que Dios tiene para ti y con quién estás hablando, tú me pedirías a mí, y yo te daría agua viva” Juan 4:10 (NTV). Pero la mujer no reconoció a Jesús.
Dios está actuando a tu alrededor, no sólo durante la Navidad, sino también durante todo el año. ¿Será posible que tú o las personas que amas no lo reconozcan?
