Three Ways God Delivers You from a Dead End

You’re going to face dead ends in life—times when it seems your dream has died and all hope is lost. When you get to a dead end, you can count on one thing: God will bring deliverance.
Here’s what God’s deliverance might look like:
God brings circumstantial (external) deliverance.
Sometimes God miraculously alters the circumstances and the Red Sea splits, like it did for the Hebrew people when they were hemmed in by the sea on one side and Pharaoh’s army on the other.
God brings personal (internal) deliverance.
Instead of changing the circumstances, God sometimes changes you from the inside. He gives you a new dream, a new perspective, or a new ability to handle a tough situation.
God’s ultimate (eternal) deliverance.
On Earth, there is suffering—and sometimes God doesn’t remove that. But his ultimate deliverance will come in heaven, where there will be no pain, no sorrow, no suffering, and no heartache. How do you get to heaven? Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV)

Celebrating 10 Years of Reaching the World for Jesus Together

Your faithful partnership has helped bring to life Pastor Rick’s dream of offering biblical hope and encouragement to people worldwide, and this year, Daily Hope marks its 10th year on the radio!
Together we can celebrate a remarkable milestone: Since the start, over 25,000 people have personally reached out to tell us they’ve come to faith in Christ! That’s like an entire city of people!
We’re so grateful you’re part of this team God is using to reach over 35 million people every month with the hope of Jesus. Through your commitment to helping fulfill the Great Commission, people are being transformed by the Word. God is using Daily Hope to reach people where they are, whether it’s through radio, TV, podcast, email, social media, or the website. And people are hearing about the Good News in their own language thanks to your support.
With our sights set on the future, we have faith that God will increase Daily Hope’s reach and continue to change the lives of people like Jun, a prisoner who serves as an inmate pastor in a penitentiary.
He wrote to us: “I always use your preaching and devotionals in sharing the words of God to my fellow prisoners, and I see people come to the Lord in many ways.”
Or like Ella, who shared: “I found every area of my life flipped upside down when the pandemic first hit . . . Daily Hope became monumental in my journey to giving my life to Christ in July 2021.”
Thank you for helping us reach the world for Jesus. Your generosity is a stewardship we don’t take lightly!

Thank You for Helping Reach the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for Jesus

For millions worldwide, sign language is essential to communication.Close to 5 percent of the world’s population, or 430 million people, are part of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community—and 11 million of them are in the United States! Many communicate through American Sign Language (ASL), a language with its own grammar, syntax, and structure.
Sadly, 98 percent of the global Deaf population has not been introduced to the hope of Jesus. With your support, Daily Hope has now translated Pastor Rick’s daily devotional into 365 ASL videos—providing Gospel materials vital to reaching this community with the Good News. You can sign up to have them emailed daily to you or a friend at RickWarren.org/ASL.
Because of your commitment to bringing the Good News to “every nation and tribe and people and language” (Revelation 7:9 NLT), the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community can learn about Jesus in their own language. Thank you!

Why You Can Hold On to Hope . . . No Matter What!

Have you ever been chasing a dream God gave you, only to suddenly find yourself at a dead end? If you have, you are in good company! The Bible is full of people who reached a dead end—and then found God there to deliver them.
But how do you know you’re at a dead end? You’re at a dead end when the situation deteriorates from difficult to impossible—when it’s hopeless, when there’s no way out, when you have no alternatives left.
Abraham was at a dead end when he and his wife were approaching 100 years old and still hadn’t had the baby God promised them (Genesis 18:10–14). The Israelites were at a dead end when the Red Sea was in front of them and the armies of Pharaoh were behind them (Exodus 14). Jesus’ followers were at a dead end when he died on the cross (Luke 24:17; John 20:11).
When you reach a dead end, you start asking things like, “What’s going on here, God? Did I miss your plan? Is this just something I thought up myself, and not your dream?”
Even the apostle Paul faced dead ends: “At that time we were completely overwhelmed, the burden was more than we could bear, in fact we told ourselves that this was the end. Yet we believe now that we had this experience of coming to the end of our tether that we might learn to trust, not in ourselves, but in God who can raise the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:8–9 PHILLIPS).
Paul knew this: If God can raise people who are dead physically, he can raise people who are dead emotionally. He can resurrect a dead marriage. He can resurrect a dead career. He can resurrect a health problem and make it better.
If God can raise the dead, he can do anything.
During my years pastoring Saddleback Church, we found ourselves at many dead ends. We lost money and opportunities; for many years, we moved from place to place, meeting in 57 different locations over the years. But all of those dead ends were part of God’s plan—and every time he delivered us.
If you are at a dead end, you are exactly where God wants you to be. God knows where you are. He knows every hair on your head. He has you in that dead end for a purpose.
What’s the best response to a dead end? Follow the example of Paul and wait confidently on God for deliverance: “He has delivered us . . . and he will deliver us gain” (2 Corinthians 1:10 NIV).
You can trust that, at the end, God comes in and delivers. He provides a solution. He does a miracle. In Moses’s case, God split the Red Sea. Abraham and Sarah miraculously conceived. And Jesus was resurrected.
Remember what God has done . . . and believe he will do it again. Hold onto hope. Deliverance is coming.

Step Into God’s Dream for You

What’s your dream for your life? More importantly, what’s God’s dream for your life?
If you’re frustrated about where you are right now, dreaming is always the first step God uses in his process to change your life for the better. Everything starts as a dream.
Great faith inspires great dreams.
Great dreams require great faith.
In many ways, a great dream is a statement of faith. To courageously imagine or dream of a better future for yourself, for your family, or for others is an act of faith.
You are saying, “I believe that things can change and can be different, and I believe that God will enable me to accomplish it!”
Believing and trusting God always makes him happy. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
But maybe you’ve been looking for rewards in life by seeking your own dreams. Maybe your career, your accomplishments, your possessions, or your relationships have taken all your focus, energy, and attention.
God’s dream for you is more than what you accomplish or attain. It’s a catalyst for personal change because that’s what God is most concerned about: preparing you for life with him in eternity.
God has long-range plans for you that will far outlast your brief time on earth. He’s looking at your life in light of eternity. The fact is this: any goal or dream that you envision happening here on earth will be short-term because everything on earth is temporary.
So will you choose God’s dream for your life, or will you choose your own dream? Or will you let someone else impose their dream on you?
The truth is, not all of your goals, passions, and ambitions are what’s best for you. Some dreams are unhelpful. Some are harmful. Some dreams end up being nightmares, and some lead to disaster.
The Bible says, “Some people think they are doing right, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).
This is why you should want God’s dream for your life, rather than your own or someone else’s. God’s dream for your life is infinitely better than anything you could dream up alone.
It won’t be easy, and it won’t be quick, but pursuing God’s dream is the greatest adventure you will ever experience.
And as you pursue it, you’ll see that figuring out and following God’s dream is a walk of faith. His dream usually is not spelled out in complete detail. You discover it one step at a time.
The Bible says, “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day” (Proverbs 4:18).
That means God’s dream dawns on you. It becomes more and more clear with every step you take.
The pursuit of God’s dream requires a lot of patience. Patience is one of the most common tools God uses to build your faith. In fact, it takes more faith to wait than to take a risk, because waiting forces you to decide: Will you continue to trust God, or will you give up and walk away?
Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”
So how is your faith? Is it strong or weak? Is it steady or stretched? These are important questions to answer because Jesus said, “Everything is possible for the person who has faith” (Mark 9:23).
Jesus also said, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (Matthew 9:29).
In other words, there’s a lot riding on your faith! Your faith affects how much God blesses your life.
You might think your faith isn’t strong enough to follow God’s dream. Sure, it is!
The faith you have is enough to get started. Jesus said you need faith only the size of a mustard seed to move a mountain. Do you only have baby faith? Then take a baby step. When you do, your faith will grow for the next step.
Take your first baby step today. And another one tomorrow. And as you keep going, you’ll start to discover God’s dream for your life and the incredible adventure he has waiting for you.
God uses a predictable pattern of six phases to build your faith. Once you understand these six phases, you can better cooperate with God in the strengthening of your faith and building of your character while experiencing the great adventure of pursuing God’s dream for your life.
You can discover and explore these six phases of faith in my brand-new book, Created to Dream: The 6 Phases God Uses to Grow Your Faith .
And right now, you can receive two copies of Created to Dream—one for you and one to share – as thanks for your gift to help share the certain hope of Jesus with people all over the world through Daily Hope. So ask for both your copies when you give today.

Six Steps for Wise Decision-Making

“A man is a fool to trust himself! But those who use God’s wisdom are safe.”
Proverbs 28:26 (TLB)
In this series, we’re learning how God takes us through the Six Phases of Faith—a dream, decision, delay, difficulty, dead end, and deliverance—over and over again throughout our lives to grow our faith and develop our character.
The second phase God uses to grow your faith is when you decide to follow the dream you believe God has given you. Nothing happens with your dream until you move forward in faith!
God gave Moses the dream of leading the children of Israel out of 400 years of slavery—but Moses had to make the decision to confront Pharaoh.
God gave Noah the dream of saving the world from the flood—but Noah had to make the decision to build the ark.
God gave Abraham the dream of building a new nation—but Abraham had to make the decision to leave everything and go out into the unknown.
Just like these people in the Bible, you’ll never realize God’s dream for your life until you come to the stage of decision-making and choose to step out in faith.
There is a simple, workable plan for making wise decisions that will keep you on track pursuing God’s dream for your life.
1. Pray for guidance.
Before you do anything else, get God’s perspective on the issue. “A man is a fool to trust himself! But those who use God’s wisdom are safe” (Proverbs 28:26 TLB).
2. Get the facts.
There is no contradiction between faith and fact. Find out everything you can before you make a decision. Proverbs 13:16 says, “All who are prudent act with knowledge” (NIV).
3. Ask for advice.
Talk to somebody who’s made a similar decision and to friends who know your weaknesses. “The more good advice you get, the more likely you are to win” (Proverbs 24:6 GNT).
4. Calculate the cost.
Every decision has a price tag; it may cost you time, money, energy, reputation, talents, or resources. Proverbs 20:25 says, “It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows” (NIV). When people pressure you to make a decision, it’s okay to say, “I’ll get back to you.” It’s more important to make a wise decision than a quick decision.
5. Prepare for problems.
In faith, expect the best. Expect God to work in your life. But also prepare for the problems that are part of every decision. Solomon said in Proverbs 22:3, “A prudent man foresees the difficulties ahead and prepares for them; the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences” (TLB).
6. Face your fears.
Perfectionism paralyzes potential. God has always used imperfect people in imperfect situations to accomplish his will. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done” (TLB). In spite of your problems, doubts, or fears, trust God and start moving in the direction of your dream.
Talk It Over
Do you hesitate to ask God for direction about big decisions? Why or why not?
What is the difference between taking a leap of faith and taking biblical steps to make wise decisions?
Which one of the six steps from today’s devotional is the most difficult for you? Ask God to help you trust him for every step of your journey of faith.

No te acostumbres a culpar a tus circunstancias.
Confieso que te he ignorado.

To Hear God, Be Still and Listen

“Pause a moment, Job, and listen; consider the wonderful things God does.”
Job 37:14 (GNT)
The first phase God uses to grow your faith is when he gives you a dream. But to hear this dream, you have to listen for God’s voice—and that means you have to silence the noise around you.
The Bible says God speaks in a still, small voice, so you can’t hear him in the whirlwind of a chaotic life. You can’t hear God with the TV on or when you’re distracted by all the things you need to do today.
You may think God never speaks to you. But perhaps it only seems that God never speaks to you—because you’re never quiet enough to listen to him!
Something is always going on in your mind—you’re thinking through the week’s schedule, scrolling through social media, or replaying a difficult conversation you had with your boss. So while God is trying to get through to you on the telephone of life, he’s getting a busy signal.
To hear from God, you’ve got to get quiet and reserve time alone with him.
The Bible says in Job 37:14, “Pause a moment, Job, and listen; consider the wonderful things God does” (GNT).
God wants to spend time with you. It’s like he’s saying, “Pause, be quiet, get alone, and learn solitude so I can talk with you.”
Is knowing God’s dream for your life worth giving him a day? Have you ever taken an entire day to do nothing but be alone with God?
Here’s what you can do on a day like that: Talk to God in prayer. Let God talk to you through the Bible. Relax. Think. Write down the thoughts he puts in your mind. Set some goals. Look through your schedule. Set your priorities. Spend the day asking, “God, where do you want me to go? What direction do you want my feet headed?”
Then make a habit of having a quiet time with God each day. I know you can’t spend all day every day in quiet and stillness with God, but you can set aside a short time each day. A daily quiet time looks a lot like what that entire day with God might look like, just shorter.
Remember: God speaks to people who take the time to listen—not just for a day but also on a regular basis.
Have you had a case of the spiritual wiggles? Set aside some time to be still and quiet with God. You might be surprised at how much he wants to say to you!
PLAY today’s audio teaching from Pastor Rick >>Talk It Over
Think about the “quiet times” you have with God. How much time do you spend being quiet and waiting for God to speak to you?
When have you heard God speaking to your heart? How did you get yourself still and quiet enough to hear from him?
What distractions do you need to eliminate today so that you can be still and quiet with God?
