Here’s to 1 year blogging & the Top 20 of 2013 @HDcoverTherapy

Wowza!  Is about the only words to express how I feel!  This year has been ah-maz-ing!  Who ever thought a little ole country girl from NC would start a blog, fall in love with it, host tours for amazing authors, write her own debut novel, and feel like she’s on top of the world?  (Well not really, but I do like to think so!)

I do know that I wouldn’t have survived this year without Chelly, my cousin.  She loves to read as much as I do!  (Yeah, our hubby’s never thought they would marry book nerds!  But they did!)  She has handled the reviews while I was trying to finish No Turning Back & Finding Charley.  We tackled Book Bask and NASW together, and I can’t wait to see where we go next!  There aren’t words to thank her enough!  She totally gets me and my book addiction!

I never imagined one year ago how one post could change my life!  IT DID!  Here’s to you- Rebecca, Jennifer Roberts-Hall, Tiffany King, Casiey Quinn, Shantel Tessier, & Aleatha Romig!  Y’all changed my life!  So, here’s to another year of blogging, writing, and anything released to books we

To celebrate our one year blogging, here’s a giveaway hosted by Author Casey Peeler!  Over 20 books both digital and signed!

Heartbeat by Faith Sullivan

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
Undescribable Series by Shantel Tessier
Flat Out Love by Jessica Park

This list was EXTREMELY  difficult!  I have read well over 100 hundred book this year alone.  Each book I am asked to review or read for pleasure, I read entirely.  I am not one to put it to the side because I’m not into it… that’s not fair to the author.  These books cover several genres, but are fabulous.  Some are series others are novella’s… regardless they were great reads for me.  Def check them out!  Especially A Brand New Ending… it touched my heart and left me speechless!  Here’s to another year!  I’m bring it in right with Behind His Eyes by Aleatha Romig!

Chelly’s Thoughts

WTF did I just read?  I’m still trying to figure that out, but I’m sure it’ll require another read through to thoroughly understand it.  Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad…it was that good!  And completely mind blowing!

Delilah (or Lie, as she prefers to be called) has had a tough life.  Being the product of rape, she was never wanted, and her mom made sure she knew that.  She was bullied throughout her life in school and always felt alone, until she ends up in a group home and meets Brock.  Brock has his own problems, but he takes Delilah under his wing and for the first time in her life, she feels safe and protected.  He promises her forever, but he broke his promise and now Delilah is left with no one…

After moving from Mississippi to Orlando for college, Delilah is living up to her nickname.  She is living a lie, hiding under the façade of the blonde party girl, and refusing to let anyone in on her past.  After going to a party with Trish, her super-hot, super-shallow, trashy roommate, she meets Abel, and suspects he’s living the same lie as she.  He sees through her mask, and Lie thinks she sees through his, but with his hot and cold personality, she can’t be too sure.  The attraction between the two is undeniable, but is Abel truly the nice guy he sometimes seems to be, or the asshole that inevitably surfaces?  He’s got his own secrets, but will he ever open up?  Will Lie ever trust him with her own?

I was drawn in by this story from the beginning, eager to find out the story of Brock and Delilah, then Abel comes in from left field.  I didn’t know which one was the good guy and I had so many questions, but the only way to find out was to keep reading.  I both loved and hated each of them at some point, and I felt sorry for the life Delilah had been dealt, but she made a few no-so-smart decisions that made me not like her at times, too.  We finally get the full truth, then comes the curve ball…WOW!  That’s all I can say.  Major props to Teresa Mummert!  I never in a million years saw that coming in the end and honestly, I’m still a little bit confused.  I still have a few questions left unanswered, but I’m sure another read-through will help me understand a little better.  Teresa Mummert is one of my favorite authors and Perfect Lie did not disappoint…I will continue to devour anything she puts out!

Author Bio:

Teresa Mummert

“I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney’s Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn’t resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I’d like to tell you a story.

(This bio is not to be taken seriously under any circumstance.)

Teresa Mummert is an army wife and mother whose passion in life is writing. She is the author of the New York Times and USA Todaybestselling novels White Trash Beautiful and Suicide Note. Behind His Eyes Cover Reveal @AleathaRomig

BHE Consequences

BHEBlurb (1)

Behind His Eyes- Consequences
The Symphony – Late May 2010
(Consequences—Chapter 8)

“Thank you, Tony,” she replied. “This has been an amazing night. How can I ever thank you?”

He pulled her close, feeling the pressure of her breasts against his chest. Turning off the riding lights, he smiled a devilish grin. “I have a few ideas.”

Claire’s glance darted toward the dark glass partition separating the back from the front of the car.

Tony laughed. “I promise we’re alone; Eric can’t see or hear us.” He leaned toward her. She instinctively reached for his neck and settled onto the long leather seat. As he hovered mere inches above, he watched her cheeks flush, and his erection came to life. Over the past few months, Claire had learned to respond to Tony’s commands—both verbal and none. There‘d been times when she’d hesitated. It was on those occasions that she earned the punishment she deserved. Turning his tone more serious, he raised a brow and demanded, “Now, show me that you’ve followed my rules. I want to see.”

Claire’s immediate response fortified the pride of his accomplishment. She maintained their gaze as her small hand fumbled for the hem of her dress. “I can’t reach—”

Tony wouldn’t let her finish—he couldn’t. He needed to taste her. Entwining his fingers in her loose ringlets of hair, he tilted her lips upward and heard a small moan before his mouth seized hers. Unable to soften his approach, he took what was his. It wasn’t enough—he wanted more. When his tongue probed, her lips parted allowing him to enter her warmth. Tony savored her sweetness as her arms once again encircled his neck. With his other hand, he reached for the hem of her dress and the cabin filled with her whimpers of anticipation.

He slowly lifted the beaded material and teasingly brushed her inner thigh. “Open your legs for me,” he commanded.

She obeyed and he continued to caress her soft skin. When her breathing labored and he neared his destination, Tony stopped. Releasing her hair, he sat up and gazed down at her blushed cheeks, smudged lipstick, and nearly exposed body. Grinning, he murmured, “You were amazing tonight.”

Softly, she replied, “Thank you.”

Leaning back, he reminded her. “But the night isn’t over.” His playful tone vanished. “Now, lift your dress and let me see if you have truly behaved.”

Slowly reaching for the length of material, Claire kept her eyes fixed on his. As the material rose, she replied, “I promise, Tony, I’ve followed your rules.”

He couldn’t help but think how beautiful she looked—offering herself to him. That, combined with the sound of her calling him by his personal name, was enough to release the painful tightness in his slacks. It seemed unreal that he could be on the verge of exploding, and she’d yet to touch him. Surprisingly, at that moment, that wasn’t what he wanted. He yearned for something else, and they both knew his desires came first.

Slade and Samantha’s story continues…

Casey’s Thoughts

Slade and Sam’s story ends on a very heartbreaking note in Undescribable.  Sam has just lost her mother, and is completely alone & broken until she finally realizes that she isn’t alone because Slade loves all of her.

What happens when someone passes?  How do you move on?  What happens when the mother you thought hated you didn’t, and now you feel like the most selfish person that ever existed?  These are all questions that Sam asks herself, and has to try to move forward.

Even though Sam has no more family, she has support from Slade, the Long family, and their friends.  What she does have a hard time with is her best friend, Courtney.  She thinks she knows everything and can’t understand that Sam is “okay.”  There were times I just wanted to yell or slap her myself!

Slade, oh Slade, is still the hot guy he was in book one, but he is genuinely in love with Sam.  That makes me love him even more! He is possessive of her to a fault at time, but does what he thinks she needs.  There is a side of him that comes out that I wasn’t so sure of to start, but it fits Slade and Sam’s relationship.  They both need each other, and Sam loves the control that Slade has over her in the bedroom.

There are a few new characters in Unbearable.  Tate is the one that will stand out, and leave your head spinning.  Seriously, Shantel, I knew there had to be something about him in Sam’s past, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it!  That was a good one, and I can’t wait to see what else unfolds.

Missy, I just love her!  I just keep hoping that she gets her forever with a certain someone. *hint*

Jessica that B**** needs to get over herself and Slade!  I think I would have lost it long before Sam.  But it works out for the best.

There are several events within the book that will leave you hot, wanting more, crying, hoping that Slade and Sam get their forever, and an undercurrent of freaky events that will have you questioning everyone.  I will say that Slade stole my heart with an event in NYC, but the book ends with an WTF moment.  You will be begging for Uncontrollable.  5 starts easily for Unbearable!

Saturday- The stress level began to rise!  I attended a great Author Panel featuring the Male POV!  It was fabulous!  Then it was time for the signing!  Deep breaths!  It went awesome… my biggest question from people coming by my table.  ”Can I have that bottle of Jack??”  Also, my mom made a new BFF, the fabulous Nicole Reed’s mom!  After the event, it was time for my panel, Hometown Romance.  Oh Cash Money, how we all love you!  It was fun, but I kinda had to get out of my shell!  Yes, I am kinda quiet!

We had supper with out family at Wild Wing, drinks, and then to a little Karoke and open bar!  Great time, great friends, and a night to remember!

On Tour with Initiation @raynanoire

Initation

Halloween design with haunted house
Synopsis

Leah Carpenter thought being the only witch in her local high school was hard. That was until she inexplicably found herself in the past running from an angry mob, which turned out to be much harder. Lionel, the man in charge of the mob, holds a grudge against a girl he calls Arabella. He thinks she’s Arabella.

Luckily, just about the time it looks as if she’s done for she pops back into her century. This causes trouble at school, but at least she has an understanding family. What happens in the past can hurt her. The whiplashes covering her body are proof enough.

Her Nana believes she has to right a wrong in the past to stay in the present and go out with her crush, Dylan. What she discovers in the past is an evil so pure that it makes her blood run cold. She might not ever make it back for geometry class or more importantly a possible date with Dylan.

Excerpt

The smell struck her first. The acrid, smelly odor reminded her of her fourth-grade field trip to a pioneer village. The candle maker had intrigued her by dipping wicks in what she had assumed was wax until the woman explained it was made of animal fat from butchered animals. That’s what it smelled like, along with the campfire aroma of burning wood.

In the misty night sky, a clouded crescent moon shed meager light on the surroundings. Turning slowly she examined the primitive thatched hut behind her. In the small front garden, a split log supported by two stumps served as a bench. An oaken bucket sat by a door that flew open. An elderly woman hobbled out, dressed in a black cloak. The woman reminded Leah of her grandmother, but instead of a look of fierce determination, terror pulled her face into an anxious mask. Reaching Leah, she tugged on her clothes, pushing her toward the woods. “Flee, flee, they come. Smell the torches.” The woman pointed to a path winding toward the east.

A dim glow was coming from that direction, along with the sounds of voices and snapping branches as dozens of feet marched in their direction. An overwhelming desire to run after the unknown woman came over her. Another part of her wanted to see who was coming down the path. It was only a dream, right?

People couldn’t be hurt in a dream, or could they? She struggled to remember what her psychology teacher, Mr. Schaeffer, had said. He’d said either people couldn’t be hurt by their fears or your fears could kill you by bringing on cardiac arrest.

A few men came into view, burly men garbed in shapeless garments, with wild hair and ragged beards. Held high the flickering torches illuminated a small circle around them. One held a curved knife, reminiscent of the scythe the Grim Reaper carried. It didn’t bode well. One of the men spotted her, yelled, “Witch!”   and charged her way. It was a definite bad sign, causing her to sprint toward the woods in the same direction as the old woman. Sticks, rocks, and briars pierced her feet, reminding her of her shoeless state. At home, she excelled in cross-country, but she had shoes, sunlight, and a feel for the course with no angry villagers behind her. The running men drew closer. Leah stumbled over a tree root, wasting precious time.

“Here, over here.” The voice came from overhead. Staring up into the canopy of leaves, she saw a small hand motioning to her. Of course, hide in the trees. Why didn’t she think of that? Grabbing the lowest limb, she pulled herself into the leafy covering. In the dark, she felt for the branches, climbing higher. Eventually she grabbed an ankle or calf, and received a hand up for her trouble, helping her climb higher.

Good Goddess, how many people were in this tree? She held her breath as the light and noise came closer. The few men below argued about which way to go, while a woman waded in with her opinion. “Samuel, let the witch get away. Mayhap he uses the witch for his own purposes.”

One of the front-runners denied the accusations. “Martha seeks to harm my name, because I did not plight my troth with her.”

The argument moved on a little farther away from the tree. Leah exhaled in a whoosh, thanking the stars for the scorned woman and lack of dogs. As if hearing her silent prayer, a long canine bay rent the air.

About the Author

Rayna Noire Promo

Rayna Noire is an author and a historian. The desire to uncover the truth behind the original fear of witches led her to the surprising discovery that people believed in magick in some form up to 150 years ago. A world that believed the impossible could happen and often did must have been amazing. With this in mind, Ms. Noire taps into this dimension, shapes it into stories about Pagan families who really aren’t that different from most people. They do go on the occasional time travel adventures and magick happens.
