Casey’s Thoughts
I have loved Stephanie Corvella’s character since the moment I read Nowhere to Run. It was a heart pounding, adrenaline producing, suspenseful novel with just a hint of a love aspect. Nowhere to Hide was was the same, but Damaged… oh, my, my! I feel in love with Dominic Delaney because to be honest, I just wasn’t so sure of him until this book.
Before there was talk of Dominic and their relationship, but now I totally get why he was the love of Stephanie’s life.
In Damaged, we learn about what things were like when Stephanie and Dominic met. He ran a bar called Outlaws, and Stephanie would come in a late at night. Finally, deciding to make a move on”Hurricane” Stephanie as she is called, an attraction is created that goes to the soul.
Stephanie has a haunting past and has never bared it all to anyone, not even her boyfriend, Ben. Ben has been there for her, but doesn’t truly understand the life that Stephanie has been a victim too… that all changes when she falls for Dominic. She’s an open book, and this has never happened in her life.
Damaged is a book that will open your eyes into the past of Stephanie and Dominic, but will leave you wanting more. There is one major twist and a major complication within their relationship. When I finally put the pieces together, I was like OMG! No wonder he was like he was in the other two books! I’ll leave you guess on which character I’m referring to.
Damaged is a fabulous novel with love, heartbreak, friendships, mystery, and a look into Stephanie and Dominic’s past.
**On a side note, every time I hear Dustin Lynch’s “Hurricane” all I can see is Stephanie Corvella**
~My recommendation is this… if you haven’t ready Nowhere to Run and Nowhere to Hide, start there because you will understand how much all the characters really are intertwined once you begin to read Damaged.~

An Interview with RL Dodson!
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I spent almost 20 years working in law enforcement. Many of those years were spent working undercover narcotics. I love spending time outdoors, enjoy the beauty of nature.
What do you do when you are not writing? Spending time with family – including my four legged baby – Belladonna, 82 lb. pit bull.
Do you have a day job as well? Yes, Waste Management – Route Manager for Residential Services and Safety Trainer
When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book? I wrote in high school for newspaper and annual staff. I started my first book – Heart of Jaded Justice many years ago and put it down. I decided to finish it about a year ago.
How did you choose the genre you write in? Past work experience led me to this genre. I love romance and great suspence.
Do you listen to music while writing? Yes, very varied however. Old Rock, Classical, Jazz, Blues and Country
Chips or chocolate? Definitely Chips… I am a salt freak – My favorite are Dill Pickle Chips
Do you ever experience writer’s block? Yes after a long day at work.
Do you work with an outline, or just write? I just write with the flow, I don’t use an outline.
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult? I loved Johnathon Livingston Seagull and Illusions by Richard Bach and EVERYTHING by Edgar A. Poe – Especially, The Raven
Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published? I was at a total loss, I self-published and would like to learn more about how to reach a larger targeted audience.
If you had to go back and do it all over, is there any aspect of your novel or getting it published that you would change? Not sure.
How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre? Still working on this one.
Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published? No
Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination? Some small aspects influenced by prior work in law enforcement.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? Prologues
How did you come up with the title? After spending 20 years in Law Enforcement it is easy to become Jaded with Justice and my daughter’s name is Jade. She was born on Christmas day and my favorite color is green – therefore her name of Jade.
What project are you working on now? Just completed sequel to Heart of Jaded Justice – Title is Eternal Justice
Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with? I like Ashley and Tony and will probably do a third book with them in the future.
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment? I haven’t really had much feedback. The reviews stating the book held interest and they couldn’t wait for sequel, really made me feel good.
Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans? THANK YOU and please leave feedback. I value readers opinions to make my future work better.

Mallory Wells grew up in a gossip-loving small town where everybody knew everybody’s business and she couldn’t wait to get away, so when the opportunity came up for her to go to college in Boston, she jumped at the chance. She left behind her dad (the only family she had), a great group of friends, and her boyfriend of 4 years, Luke. She thought they’d be together forever, but he didn’t want to move to the big city, so she left him behind to find herself.
Fast forward 3 years and Mallory gets a call that her father is sick with cancer, and he’s beyond saving. She wastes no time moving back home to care for her father, but the guilt of not knowing he was this sick is eating her alive. How could she not know? Why did he not tell her? If only she’d visited him at least once she would’ve been able to see how bad off he was. It doesn’t help that she runs into Luke and he’s throwing these very same questions in her face.
Lucas Bates has been working for, and caring for, Joe Wells for the last 3 years…since his spoiled brat of a daughter left both of them. Joe took Luke in and helped him heal and quickly became like a father to him. As he’s working on a repair at Joe’s house, he’s surprised to see that she has returned, but why now? Luke is still bitter that Mallory left him for college, and highly upset that she decided to return now that he was dying.
Luke and Mallory blame each other for the failure of their relationship, but neither can deny the attraction they still feel. Neither want to feel it, but it’s there, and like it or not, they will need each other to get through everything coming with Joe. Will they both finally give in to what they want? Are they each willing make sacrifices to make it work this time? When reunited with her BFFs from high school, Mallory realizes how much she missed the small town life, and Luke, but is it enough to make her give up the city life?
I really enjoyed this book, but I seem to be with the majority when I say I didn’t care for Mallory at all (at first), especially when she was questioning whether she was ready to take care of her father. For situations like that, you don’t get to be ready, you just suck it up and do it! She came across as very selfish, spoiled, and self-centered, but in the end I grew to like her. I really enjoyed all of the supporting characters and I can’t wait to learn more of their stories…not knowing Rainey’s secret is killing me! Broken Promises is a wonderful story of love, heartbreak, and learning to heal and grow with the help of great friends and I’m eager to read more from Dawn.

Connect and Torn were both fabulous reads for me! River Wilder is a little different than your typically rocker. In fact, I feel for him hard from the night in college, but there are reasons why things happen in our lives. River is the total package. I felt he gave Dahlia everything from day one. Put himself out there, and it was up to her to take it. He took the good with the bad.
Dahlia is strong and has experiences one of the biggest lies a person could ever face. In fact, I think she handled it very well. Dahlia once she decides to love she does with her whole heart, and thats why letting go of her past is so hard.
I will have to say that this book will have connections that will have you going OMG! WTH? By the end of Torn, you will start putting pieces together, and when the lightbulb goes off it would light up the state of Texas!
I really enjoyed these two books, but they were slow reads for me. They were FABULOUS books, I loved the story line, characters, and everything about it… but, it took me a week to read each of them for me. (Which is out of my norm.) Maybe I had to let River Wilder soak in with each word? Regardless, I highly recommend Connected and Torn by Kim Karr to anyone with a
