Happy Father’s Day
My stepfather passed away five years ago this week.
Father’s Day was the last time we spoke, in fact. Despite what people often say, knowing “I love you” was the last thing I said to him is not much of a comfort.
He wasn’t old or infirm or the victim of some terrible accident or horrific crime. He just died. Sitting in his chair in the living room. Here. Gone.
An aneurysm.
Grief is one of those odd things that hides out in the corners of our minds we don’t often visit, if we can help it. Death cr...

A new WIP invades
You know how you think to yourself “Fabulous! I’ve got this completely handled. Juggling promotion for Book A and edits for Book B is no trouble,” and then this unfamiliar voice pops into your head and says, “Hello there! Is now a good time? Now’s a good time, right? It’s a pleasure to meet you. Write me.”

Post-editing bliss
Ahhh. Just shipped an edited draft of Neighborly Affection: Crossing the Lines (book two in the series!) to my editor. I feel lighter, and so does the manuscript. Permission to marinate in bliss for the rest of the day?
Permission granted.

Pre-order page up at BookStrand
Tripped over another pre-order page for Playing the Game, this time at BookStrand. It’s such a surreal experience. Eventually, I might actually believe this publishing thing is happening to me.

Pre-order page up at Kobo
I stumbled across excitement today. (This is how I usually find things, by tripping over them in the dark. I blame the dog for leaving her toys everywhere.)
Playing the Game is available for pre-order at Kobo, for those of you who prefer to get your ebooks there. Check it out here.

No, don’t do it
Ugh. That moment when the characters are telling you they have to do something you don’t want them to do? The word “procrastination” was invented for that moment.

Sometimes I feel like a Nut

Treat yourself. It’s okay. (Credit: Hash Milhan)
I’m celebrating Mother’s Day in proper form, by going crazy. The wonderful Cd Brennan graciously invited me to participate in her Sundae with Nuts series. If you’ve ever (or never) wanted to know important facts like how I like my ice cream in my favorite knickers — Wait, was that a question? Did I actually answer that? Crap. I need to up my reading comprehension. — go here and enjoy.
Confidential to my actual mom: I love you, Mom! Today and ever...

Book 2 is coming
I just signed the contract for my second book with Lyrical Press. Giddy! Must breathe. (Slower. Must breathe slower.) It’s a follow-up to Playing the Game, which means Henry, Alice, and Jay’s adventures will continue.
