Banshee Seduction by Diane Saxon

Sweet, shy librarian Ginny has a problem. Whenever passion strikes, so do the weeping, wailing voices in her head. Being half banshee, she’s already run screaming from the underworld and her female relatives, believing love will find a way with patience and faith on planet Earth. The trouble is, humans just aren’t man enough, and every time Ginny shows interest in a male, she makes him bleed. It’s going to take more than just a simple human being to get past Ginny’s defenses. Matthew, “The Dane,” fullback for the New York Chameleons, knows the moment he meets the little fireball that she’s his mate. For two hundred years he and his dragon have waited for a female capable of setting their world on fire. Problem is, he doesn’t seem to be able to stop her from going up in flames long enough to prove he’s more than man enough for her screaming banshee. Will Matt ever be able to convince Ginny she’s his mate? And will Ginny get Matt alone long enough to let him appreciate her pyrotechnics?

ExcerptSea-green eyes glowed at her from where he casually leaned against her counter. That sexy top lip of his had pulled straight as he treated her to a welcoming smile that revealed his perfect, white teeth and weakened her knees. “Hi.” “Hi.” She strolled over as casually as possible, trying to make her walk a bit sexy, but just succeeded in banging her ankles together to give an almost imperceptible stumble. Almost, but from his widening grin, she knew he hadn’t missed it. He’d made her into a klutz. Damn him. “I wondered if you’d had lunch yet. Are you hungry?” The man was always trying to feed her. Which wasn’t such a bad thing as banshees were always willing to eat to sustain all the wailing and weeping. “No, I…” Her stomach gave an embarrassing gurgle, determined to make a liar of her. “Great.” He dumped a bag on the counter, and the distinct aroma of hot chicken rose from its depths. She almost dribbled, so intense was her mouthwatering reaction. She wasn’t quite sure which morsel was more attractive—the steaming hot one in front of her or the chicken on the counter. “Oh, my…” She peeped inside the bag, lightheaded at the sight of fries displayed in four square bags on each side of a box. She reached in and flipped open the lid. Fried chicken. Her mouth watered until she swallowed several times in rapid succession, almost choking herself. Her eyes filled with tears as they met his amused ones. “Hungry?” His left eyebrow flicked up and down as he inquired again. Preempting her denial, her stomach gave another loud protest as though it had a mind of its own, and the disloyal women in her head screeched their desperation. She shrugged and watched his smile widen. His straight top lip dipped in and made her crave something other than food. She stared at his mouth, tempted to just lean in and give it a swift nip. She moved forward, her lips parted, and…the telephone rang, shrill and loud.

Scorching Book Reviews Christmas Blog Hop

I'm super thrilled today to be participating in the Scorching Book Reviews Christmas Blog Hop. The premise is pretty straightforward, but still a lot of fun:

I want you to tell readers what you hope Santa brings you  from the book world. It could be something fun (Can I have a time-turner ala Harry Potter please?), it could be something naughty (Mr Darcy walking out of my shower? hell yes!) or it could be something that you can’t wait to read (WHEN is the next Guild-Hunter?? I need it NOW!).

There are also giveaways. Yup, you heard that right. Every blog on the hop is giving away an awesome gift to one lucky person. So when you're done here, make sure you visit all the other stops along the way! Up for grabs here, I have an ebook copy of Paranormally Yours and a $5 Amazon GC. Just leave a comment below and tell me what one thing you'd like Santa bring someone else this year ^_^.

bannerxmas copy

My Literary Wish List
So, what am I wishing for this year? That's a tough call. This is where I let my geek show a little bit ;) Once upon a time, many many years ago, I had a gorgeous collection of Lord of The Rings books. They were hardbound, with beautiful foil inlays on the cover, and had fold-out maps.

All three books must have been ancient even when I first got them. The pages were uneven, and this was years before it was trendy to print books with uneven pages that looked like classic books and sell them at the big retailer. The dust jackets were long gone, and had been in grays and greens and browns originally.

I'd love if Santa brought me that set of books, but in their original glory. Classic novels to read and to cherish. I know, I have the ebook versions, and those are fanatastic, but they're just not the same as a classic, hardbound novel.

Paranormally Yours & Courting Mortality
Paranormally Yours isn't quite old enough to be a classic yet, but I'm hoping one day, with all the amazing authors I got to work with, that it will be.

BlurbSeven of today’s hottest paranormal authors come together to bring you a boxed set guaranteed to keep you warm on a cold winter’s night. Do shifters make you howl? Or do you prefer the bite of a vampire? Perhaps the controlling hand of a demi-god is more your style. Paranormally Yours has a story—or seven—to set your pulse racing.

CourtingMortalityCover5 Courting Mortality by Loralie HallEli’s spent eternity thwarting the same family curse that granted his brother, Loki, ever-lasting fame. Eli kind of got screwed in that one. His plan to stay single and detached has worked for several millennia. And then he meets Marley. She's making him abandon all his resolutions, except the one that never lets him forget the curse. Falling for her means her death, and he won’t let that happen.
Excerpt

As you are, for all of time

To taste neither love nor death

When you find the one worth more than life

She’ll draw her last mortal breath

“At least tell me Mister Last-night didn’t do what the previous guy did.” Eli's teasing laugh fell short, and he snapped his mouth shut when her head shot up.

Please don’t let him be talking about… “Which last guy?”

He glanced in her direction before turning back to his cable. “The one who wanted pictures.”

Marley never should’ve given him so much detail after that date. She’d done it because she liked the idea of him making a similar request, and had been trying to judge his reaction, but that didn’t mean it was a good idea. “It wasn’t like that.”

He put down what he was doing, and gave her his full attention. “Is something wrong?”

“No.” She turned back to the cable, crimping as furiously as possible while still being accurate. She wouldn’t look at him from her spot on the counter, pretending it wasn’t a big deal.

Eli extracted himself from the spindle and snakes of wires, and crossed the room. He took the crimpers from her hand, and set all of her work aside too. “Except you just crimped an RJ45 onto that cable instead of an RJ12. What’s up?”

Oops. She never made mistakes like putting a network connector on a phone cable. Her pulse raced through her veins at his light touch, making it hard to think. She needed to look away, but his gaze held her captive. If she’d been drawing a blank before, it was nothing compared to now. He’d put the thought in her head. The reminder one of her dates had asked for pictures when he’d dropped her off. Told her if she wasn’t going home with him, she at least owed him a topless shot to keep him warm that night. And now part of her was hung up on the thrill of doing that for Eli.

The temptation of turning him on, without ever touching him. “You’re telling me you can’t guess?”

The corner of his mouth pulled into a lazy smile. “I’m telling you I don’t want to guess.”

She couldn’t ignore the mental images of what it would feel like if he leaned in and kissed her. “I just… It’s not as though I had a problem with the request from Mister Send-me-pictures. Just with the requester.”

There, that hadn’t been so bad. They could gloss over it, laugh about it, and go back to work. Except she’d rather they took a break and got down to other things instead.

“Really?” His thumb stroked the inside of her wrist. Did he know he was doing that? She sure as hell did. The feather-light sensation spilled through her, desire growing between her legs. He stepped closer. “Who would it take, then? Just out of curiosity.”

They needed to get this project done. To step away from this line before it was too late. Who was she kidding? It had been too late months ago. At least for her. “Well, I’d have to like the guy first. Actually being attracted to him helps.” Would Eli have any idea she was talking about him? What the hell was wrong with her? And why couldn’t she stop?

His voice dropped an octave. “And I would assume you can’t dive straight into things. You’d want seduction. Teasing. The right words to set the mood…”

Even as she told herself to back away now, images raced through her thoughts, of stripping in front of the camera, one piece of clothing at a time, knowing Eli was her audience. A hands-off, private show where she’d caress herself, pinch her nipples, slide her fingers between her legs, and get off on the idea that she could turn him on that way.

The vivid image wouldn’t leave. Her sex whimpered for attention, and her breasts ached to press into his palms.

I'm so very very excited to be helping Janeal Falor show off the cover for her new book, Ever Darkening. First of all, I've read this book, and it is brilliantly amazing. And second, this cover is so so gorgeous. So enough from me, check out this cover.

seventeen-year-old Kaylyn has trained her entire life to achieve. But no one is
prepared for the consequences of her actually defeating all evil people on the
planet. Finally successful in her mission, Kaylyn faces an unfamiliar world,
full of good people doing good things, in which she no longer has purpose.

When the skies grow dark, and a stranger from another village pleads for her
help, her instincts roar to life. It turns out their perfect world isn't
exactly what it seems. Kaylyn's new quest, harder than any she's been on
before, will rip apart her friendships, her life, and her soul more than any
evil man ever managed to.

The Ubiquity Series is Getting a Makeover!

When I first released Uriel's Fall (Ubiquity #1), I was absolutely in love with the cover. Enough so that I kept the same theme going with Izrafel's Acceptance (Ubiquity #1.5). The thing is, I still love the original covers. But in talking to fans, I've realized they don't give the impression I want for this series.

So all of the books are getting a makeover. These are still the same urban fantasy books. Demons, angels, and the eternal struggle between heaven and hell going corporate. But now they've got a little bit of a different feeling to them.
So, if you're ready for the new look, it's just below...
.........Uriel's Fall Blurb
What’s a corporate demon to do, when the voice in her head is devouring her sanity from the inside out, and the hosts of heaven and hell would rather see her destroyed than surrender a power no one should possess?

Ronnie has the job any entry-level angel or demon would sell their soul for—she’s a retrieval analyst for the largest search engine in the world. Ubiquity is a joint initiative between heaven and hell. Because what better way to track all of humanity’s secrets, both good and bad, than direct access to their web browsing habits?

She might appreciate the position a little more if a) she could remember anything about her life before she started working at Ubiquity, b) the damned voice in her head would just shut up already, and c) her boss weren’t a complete control freak.

As she searches for solutions to the first two issues, and hopes the third will work itself out in performance reviews, she uncovers more petty backstabbing than an episode of Real Housewives, and a conspiracy as old as Lucifer’s descent from heaven. On top of all that, if she forgets the cover sheet on her TPS report one more time, she’s absolutely going on final written warning.

Now Ronnie’s struggling to keep her sanity and job, while stopping the voice in her head from stealing her life. She almost misses the boredom of retrieval analysis at Ubiquity.

I’m a 40-on-the-outside / 20-on-the-inside girl with a passion for the simple things in life. As long as they include wine, chocolate and rock music, I’m good. Happy Release Day to Lila's Wolf (an Out of Time Book) by Sofia Grey!

I'm super super happy to help show off this book today. Sofia is not just one of my partners in writing mischief, but an amazing and talented author. And this is time travel meets romance meets dystopia meets all things awesome. So make sure you check it out!

The only way to save him, might be to leave him behind

BlurbWhen Lila Cammell is abandoned by her time-jump partner, leaving her alone in Britain in the Dark Ages, revenge is the only thing on her mind. She’d trusted Jared Grohl with her life and her heart, and bringing him to justice will be sweet.

Finding him captured and enslaved by the Saxons changes all her assumptions. Now it’s a fight for survival, but the only way to save him, might be to leave him behind.

Buy Lila's WolfAmazon| AllRomance | Barnes & Noble | iTunes | Goodreads | Taliesin PublishingExcerptReleased from his mistress’ quarters, Jared made his way through the corridors to the kitchen, to fetch her a snack. The cook made him wait long minutes, and he stood in the open doorway, gazing out at the fields beyond. More strangers arriving. A flash of corn-colored hair caught his eye, and he squinted to try and see them better. A young woman with a man’s arm around her, and with that bright hair she was most probably a visiting Saxon cousin. Not Lila. He let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.
One day, it would be the ghardians. They wouldn’t abandon him. No matter how bad it was, he hung onto that thought, the single belief that sustained him through every day,
The tray was loaded with mead, rough bread, and stewed plums, and his stomach grumbled at the enticing smells. If Hilde had been pleased, she might share, otherwise he’d have to wait for supper with the other slaves. He repeated his mantra inside his head: My name is Jared, and I will be free again.

Author bio:
Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.

Cohabitation From Hell-Guest Post by Sotia Lazu

I said a couple of days ago how much I enjoyed the Tenant by Sotia Lazu and how you should all go read it. Now's your reminder. Also, I'm very happy to have her back today with an awesome guest post.

Hello, Loralie, and thank you for having me J
I chose Cohabitation from Hell as today’s subject, to try and keep with this blog’s theme, but my hellish roommate in Uni was a mere mortal. Not that I tried to kill her. Or even thought of it. Ever.
Ahem.

Okay, maybe once.

But she was one of the worst roommates there could ever be.
If I didn’t go out with only her every Wednesday, she’d make something disappear from my room. I didn’t catch on, and just thought I was being a slob and misplacing things, until she called me from class to check if she’d left her notes at home. I entered her room—which I never did, because I value people’s privacy—and found a stack of my stuff. Including things I hadn’t realized I was missing.
I must say here that, because of horrible management of my finances, there were weeks during which I was completely broke. I mean ‘eating only eggs and bread for days’ broke. If she and I had an argument during one of those times, she’d cook/bake enough food for a small army, and leave it on the cooker until it went bad. I, of course, wasn’t allowed to touch it. To this day, I have no clue why I put up with that.
When we finally decided we should each look for a new place (I think there was no decision making process involved. She said she found a new place, I said I’d look for one too), she “accidentally” took my laptop with her. Back in 2000, a laptop was a luxury in Greece, even though I barely used mine for anything other than to play…something with pixelized gorillas throwing bananas at each other, I think. I wasn’t about to let her have it. I called several times to ask for it back, but she kept not showing up when we’d said we’d meet. I was lucky enough to run into her at the airport, and she had the laptop in hand, so at least I got that back. I still don’t know what happened to one of my flat iron’s plates.
There are so many more stories about her I could share, but I wouldn’t want to leave myself open to a lawsuit for defamation. The point is, even though we had real fun at times, most of what I remember from sharing an apartment with E. was outright weird.
Some days I swear she woke up pondering how to drive me nuts.
In The Tenant, Derek spends enough time scheming about how to get on Amanda’s nerves. Who can blame him, after how she inserted herself in his life and his apartment?
Oh, wait! It was her apartment.
Or was it his?
Blurb
In hopes of getting her fiancé to consummate their relationship before the wedding, Amanda convinces him they should check out the apartment her father gave her as a gift for their upcoming nuptials. Darkness and privacy are supposed to work in her favor, but there is one parameter she doesn’t know about: the apartment is not empty yet, and the current tenant has no plans of moving.
Derek has had a hell of a few months. His girlfriend turned out to be a cheater and then stole his restaurant. He's not about to also give up the place he's called home for three years—even if his hot but infuriating landlady threatens to move in by the end of the week.
When her own lease is up, Amanda is forced to make good on her threat. As if life isn't already hard enough, her tenant-turned-roommate is as sexy as he is annoying, and her fiancé is caught with a half-naked woman.
Now she and Derek need to find a way to survive their forced cohabitation. They soon discover sleeping with the enemy can be fun.

Hushed voices. There were people whispering inside his home, and—
Something crashed.
It might have been fury at whoever dared vandalize his home that drove his feet from bathroom to bedroom, naked as the day he was born. It could have been hope he’d finally get out some of his frustration that curled his fingers around the baseball bat lying beneath his bed and led him the rest of the distance to his living room in the pitch black.
Weighing the bat in one hand, he pressed the fingers of the other to the light switch he knew to be at his left, and took in the lit room.
A couple was making out on his floor. By his overturned table and his smashed lamp.
He scowled so hard his forehead hurt, but it was all he could do not to charge them and bash their heads in.
“What the fuck are you doing in my place?” he asked the kneeling hulk. He’d heard about people making out in parks, playgrounds, even cemeteries, but breaking into someone’s home to get some was unbelievable.
The small blonde lying on the floor sat upright, eyes blazing. “Your place? My father gave me this apartment!”
Her boyfriend simply blinked at him.
Was it Derek’s imagination, or was the blonde having a hard time looking him in the eye? He was tempted to mention his face was an entire torso—and then some—higher than what she was staring at, but his ego needed some stroking, so he let her take all of him in, while his mind caught up to what she’d just said.
“You’re Kenneth’s daughter?” he finally asked, the bat only slightly lowered. Alice’s sister. This one was shorter, and Alice dyed her hair dark brown these days, but Derek could see the resemblance.
She finally lifted her gaze to meet his, and her eyes were the same bright green as her sister’s. “You’re the guy who’s supposed to be gone?”
He could apologize and say he’d forgotten because of the rain of utter shit falling on him lately.
He could ask for a bit more time until he’d found a new place.
Or he could be an ass. Nobody else seemed to think twice about being an ass to him. “Hardly,” he said with a snort. “I’m supposed to be right where I am. You, on the other hand, are trespassing. Or is it breaking and entering?”
The young woman scrunched her nose, which was adorable in a snooty, bratty way. “No breaking. I’ve got a key.” She narrowed her eyes. “When Mason and I were first engaged, Dad said he asked you to move. That was three months ago.”
Mason. That was the silent brute’s name. “I remember no such thing, and” —he looked pointedly at the remains of his favorite lamp— “there has definitely been some breaking.”
Blondie bounced up and glared. Funny, but she was intimidating despite her small stature. Maybe that was why Mason stood back and let her handle things. “Dad bought the place for me, to begin with,” she said. “You knew when you first moved in that I was eventually going to be needing it.”
That was true. Derek had heard all about how this was one day going to be a wedding present for Kenneth’s oldest daughter—and what was her name, again?—though said daughter hadn’t even been dating back then. Kenneth said his daughter was picky and needed a man with serious backbone before she settled down.
Things had apparently changed.
Derek considered waving the bat to see if the big guy would flinch, but decided to be the bigger man—and wasn’t that ironic, when Mason had at least four inches on him? “Kenneth mentioned something, but he didn’t give me the sixty days notice he was supposed to.” Blondie opened her mouth, probably to repeat her father let him know three months ago. Now was time for the coup de grace, and Derek somehow knew he’d love watching her squirm. “As you know, the notice is supposed to be in writing or it doesn’t count,” he said.
And smirked.
And winked.
Mason grabbed Blondie’s shoulder, flexing his arm in the process. The look on his face indicated that Derek’s nudity might have offended him more than Derek’s intention to not vacate the premises for at least two more months. “Let’s go, Mandi.” Ah, that was her name. “We’ll talk to your father. He’ll know what to do.”
Her gaze said she knew what to do too, and it involved the painful insertion of the baseball bat in Derek’s most private orifice.
Derek’s smirk widened into a grin. “And now get out of here, before I have to call the police and report you for harassment on top of everything else.”
Mandi stared him down for a split second, but when Derek swung his bat in the air, her overly inflated toy boy all but dragged her out the door.
Derek propped his weapon on his shoulder, grabbed a bottle of scotch, and went to bed. He sensed his swagger had returned. Maybe that was because he’d actually felt he had balls, for the first time in days.
Odd way for his day to improve, but it had. He would give anything for another opportunity to bait Mandi Murphy. If he couldn’t torture the woman who’d hurt him, he’d torture the one who wanted to evict him. He had to be subtle about it, though. He didn’t want to make Kenneth mad at him.

Happy Book Birthday to The Tenant by Sotia Lazu

I'm super excited to share this book today. I had the amazing chance to beta it, and I *loved* it from page one. Sotia Lazu has spun a super spicy saucy romantic tale that made me completely ignore the world around me while I read.
