Street Team!
So, there's been a lot of talk lately about the importance of a street team.... And I will be honest, I had no idea what that even was. But basically, it's a group of people who support and promote an author! So I'm putting together my very own team, and you could be a part of it!
You can email me (authordawnpendleton@gmail.com) or PM me on my Facebook page to be considered. I want to know why I should have you on my team - tell me about your reach (Twitter, FB, blog) and why you'd make the best team member. I will be basing my choices directly on figures like blog hits, FB friends, and Twitter followers! I want to reach as many people as possible!
With this comes a commitment to promote & share with your friends/followers! To start, I am looking for a six-month commitment. You are welcome to stay on longer, of course, but the next six months are vital to my career, and I want to be able to rely on you folks! Requirements will be one or two shares/posts to share per week.
So hit me up if you're interested and I will be choosing team members next week when I get back from Florida. If I don't answer your messages right away, please remember that I will be on vacation and may not be able to right away.
Just a reminder, Street Team members will have a behind the scenes look at my work, including advance reader copies of my books and blurbs & teasers before anyone else! :) I look forward to hearing from you!

The Switch Teaser!
Honor and Faith haven’t switched places since they were kids. When Honor begs her twin sister to go on a date with her boyfriend, Cameron, Faith reluctantly agrees. The problem is that she lets things go too far. Now Honor and Cameron have broken up and he won’t stop calling Faith, claiming he felt something more for her than he ever felt for Honor. The scary thing is, Faith felt it too. She struggles to come to terms with her feelings for Cameron. There is one rule that sisters and best friends abide by, don’t date their ex’s. Honor has her own problems. Breaking it off with Cameron was the right thing to do, she knows that. His best friend, Parker, won’t leave her alone and forces her to talk about her feelings about the break-up. They spend a lot of time together
and Honor starts to heal. Suddenly, Honor sees Parker as more than just a
friend who cares. She wants more.
Neither sister wants to complicate things further and cross those boundaries. They can’t stop their emotions for the guys in their lives. Turns out, the switch is the one
thing that has changed them forever.

Mean Girls...?
As an author, I look through reviews of my books usually about once a week, unless someone comments on my FB page about their review, or emails me directly. Then I'll go over and take a look. And somedays it's awesome, others, not so much...
The thing is, if you're in this business, you've got to be prepared for rejection. Traditional publishers, bloggers, readers - not everyone is going to like what you have to say. And that's a tough thing to adjust to, especially if you're new to this biz. You're going to have to develop a super-thick skin so that you can just let it go.
Try not to let the nay-sayers get you down, and focus on the people who actually like what you write, because they're the ones who will renew your belief in yourself, the ones who will keep you writing, and the ones who will keep buying your books.
Basically, don't let negative reviews get to you - not everyone likes every single book they read. Chin up!

It's Thursday!!!!
And that, my friends, means I will be in Florida one week from today for the Indie Book Fest event on August 3! I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am for this event... And not just the signing (which I am stoked for), but also the sessions I plan to attend all day. There's so much to learn!
But I am really excited to meet some fans and sign some books... Oh, and giveaway lots of FREE stuff! Here is a pic of just some of the swag I'll have with me...
T-shirts, notebooks, rack cards, keychains, an iPhone case, and some book charms for bracelets or necklaces! I also have magnets and more rack cards coming! This is going to be so much fun, folks! I strongly encourage you to come if you're in the area (Lake Buena Vista, Florida).
If you aren't in the area, that's okay, too, because there's a long list of events I will be at this year and next (Check out my Events Page). So there will be plenty of chances to meet me and get a signed book!
On a different note, I am going to start selling signing paperbacks for my books! I have had several people ask for them, especially those who can't get to a signing, and so I have decided to go ahead with it! I will create a store page once I get back from Florida to sell books, and I plan to also sell things like the t-shirts, and swag packs. August is going to be an amazing month!
The book I'm coauthoring with Andrea Heltsley has been pushed out a few weeks, just so that we can make sure we have a solid story before we share it, but I promise you, it's going to be really good!
Summer's Ghost is on schedule, too, set to release in September (no official date yet). Once that goes live, I will be selling signed copies of that, too. But that's a ways off.
My zombie novella series is still in the very beginning stages of production, so I am hoping for late August for a release date, but who knows... No promises!
Broken Pieces is the third and final book of the Broken series, and I actually wrote the very first chapter last night... It's soo sad. I even cried a little, it was THAT emotional. Writing the rest of it is going to be worse, I just know it. But it will release in early December, just in time for the New Adult Sleepover Weekend! :)
And I think that's it. Next week, I'll be posting a teaser for The Switch, and trust me, you won't want to miss
