Guilty Pleasures - Which movies do you enjoy watching over and over? #Barathon
This year's Blog Marathon by Blog-A-Rhythm is themed around 'Seven' so I figured I would make lists of seven for the next seven posts. For today's list, I chose to go with Hollywood movies that I can sit and watch over and over when they come on television.

Everyone has their own favourites so this is a purely subjective list.
The Thomas Crown affair - I find the romance between Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo so endearing. They have great chemistry and the final half an hour is an absolute delig...

Love Suspense movies? Well, so do I. So here's a list of some of the best movies that will keep you guessing in the post-Hitchcock era (because most of his films would fill up the list!)
01. Se7enOne of the most iconic endings ever, Se7en follows two detectives (Brad Pitt & Morgan Freeman) as they chase a serial killer obsessed with the seven deadly sins.
02. The OthersA devout Catholic woman and her two children begin to suspect that there are 'others' living in their house after strange&n...

The Top Disney songs over the last 3 decades
This year's #Barathon (Blog Marathon) by Blog-A-Rhythm is themed around 'Seven' so I figured I would make lists of seven (or multiples of it) for the challenges. For today's list, I chose to go with the Best Disney Songs of All Time.
With 80 years and nearly 60 animated films, Walt Disney has a legacy that simply cannot be matched in any era when it comes to animated movies and cinematic studios. The sheer variety and scope of these movies have made us smile and given us hope in so many differ...

14 dishes of Malabar Cuisine
Malabar cuisine is a blend of Arabia, Zamorin and Chirakkal styles of preparing food, unique to the region spanning from Kasargod to Malappuram in Kerala. In my opinion, it is heaven for a food lover, offering some of the tastiest dishes that Kerala has to offer. Using the commonly available ingredients (fish, prawns & crustaceans aplenty from the sea and rice, plantains and coconut from the land), you see a wide variety of dishes ranging from options for breakfast to tea time snacks.
So w...

14 movies that were better than their books (and 14 that were just as good) #Barathon
Since I am going with the theme of 'Sevens' for this #Barathon (blog marathon by Blog-A-Rhythm), I will go with multiples here to make up for what is a pretty extensive list. So you have here 14 movies that did justice to the original book and then 14 movies that I feel were better than the original book.
14 Well written books/stories and equally excellent movies.
Omen Bladerunner A Time to Kill A Walk to Remember Atonement One flew over the Cuckoo's nest Mystic R...

Thanos, the Infinity Stones & the Gauntlet
This year's Blog Marathon by Blog-A-Rhythm - #Barathon - is themed around 'Seven' so I figured I would make lists of seven for the next seven posts.
And for the first post, I decided to go back to what I do best: geek trivia.
Today's class? The Six Infinity Stones and the Gauntlet that will be extremely important next year when you go to watch the culmination (yes, culmination!) of a decade of Marvel movies.
Since 2008, whether you wanted to or not, you have been sucked into the world...

Diffuse the ticking time-bomb called obesity
With the exception of smoking, obesity remains the largest cause of premature preventable deaths in the world. And I do mean the world. There is no escaping this truth.
In 2016, the Lancet published one of the largest meta-analysis ever, carried out by more than 500 researchers spanning 300 institutions in 32 countries. They sifted through 239 studies worldwide and narrowed down their research to just under 4 million patients from these studies, excluding smokers and people with chronic ailmen...

Tea Culture of the World

Sometimes you don't need words. A single picture will suffice. Like the one above. Imagine having that many varieties of tea at your disposal when you get home from work?
But I am getting ahead of myself. While I do enjoy my filter kaapi, my hot beverage of choice betrays my South Indian roots. Yes, it is the tea in its many varieties - from the amazing Rs 2 masala tea we used to get as students in Pune from the roadside vendor to the regal 'Earl Grey, hot' that my Star Trek Captain, Jean Luc...

Movie Review: Godha isn't Dangal or Sultan... and that's a good thing!
When a dear friend recommended I go for the Malayalam movie Godha and told me it had wrestling as the backdrop, my mind automatically turned towards the Bollywood superhits of last year, Dangal and Sultan.
Sultan was a Salman show all the way, packing in dollops of romance into a tale of redemption. Dangal showcased the rise of the women wrestlers even as it kept Aamir high up on the pedestal, the aura of his character's stern presence felt in every scene.
Godha is no Dangal or Sultan. Thank Go...

How well do you know what tobacco does to you and your loved ones? #WorldNoTobaccoDay
We all frown over cigarette smoking. And yes, we know friends and family who do smoke or take tobacco. But here's the thing - besides knowing that it causes lung cancer, what do you really know? When you want to convince someone to stop smoking, should you not know the facts and numbers first about tobacco?
May 31 is World No Tobacco Day. On this occasion, I thought I would help by asking a few questions related to tobacco. Answer them in your mind and then see if you got the answer...
