Interview with author Vinayak Nadkarni

This year, three of my co-authors from the widely popular Indian anthology 'Love Stories That Touched My Heart' have come out with their debut novel. So it is a great pleasure to feature them here at the blog as they begin this new journey.

Presenting author Vinayak Nadkarni.

About myself:I would like to describe myself as an aspiring artist trapped in an engineer’s body and labeled by the world as an IT Professional. I am currently living in Munich, Germany and I was born and studied in Hubli,...

Tharavadu Hotel - a Kannur Seafood spot #WriteBravely

Day 3 of Write Tribe's Festival of Words asks me to feature a map and write about a place.

So many write about glamourous 5 star places they've been to and I love their write-ups. But it got me thinking about how it is just as important to give some love to the little guys too. So today, I am featuring a traditional Keralite lunch home I came across recently.

Tharavadu restaurant is a small family run restaurant situated at the start of the Thalassery- Irikkur road that opens during lunch...

What's on my workplace desk? #WriteBravely

Syringes galore to administer drugs aplenty - drugs to make you sleep and drugs to reduce your pain, drugs that make your mouth go dry and drugs that make your heart slow down, drugs to take your breath away and drugs to bring them back.
Needles thinner than a ball pen refill that can make you immobile, taking away your pain though I do need to stab you in the back with them!
Pens that help convey my thoughts; that make you smile and make you think, help me engage with you and alleviate yo...

A family unrelated by blood #WriteBravely

Kicking off the Write Tribe Festival of Words 6, the first prompt is to write on a 'treasure we have'.It has been a tough year and as it always is, during times of duress, it is hard to see and appreciate the rose amidst the thorns. But then, scrolling through my whatsapp groups and pictures on my mobile, I found my answer.
I've lost a lot over the years but one thing that I can honestly say I am blessed with is a family unrelated by blood.

These are friends from different spheres of my life wh...

James Harrison - The 'Magic Blood Man' who has saved over 2 million babies #WATWB

When James Harrison was 14 years old, the 13 liters of blood he received as transfusions during a serious chest surgery saved his life. At that young age, he pledged to be a blood donor for life.

Today, aged 80, James has donated his blood and plasma more than a 1000 times - that is an average of one blood donation every three weeks for the last 57 years. The funny thing is that this amazing statistic pales in comparison to the next one.

At the age of 13, James Harrison promised to be donate blood when he grew up. Today, at the age of 80, he has saved more than 2 million lives

Soon after he started donating blood at the age of 18, do...

Seven acts of Kindness from across the World #watwb #barathon

I end the #Barathon challenge whose theme was 'Seven' on the same day that I usually write on #WATWB (We are the World Blog), an initiative where bloggers around the world write on a story of compassion they came across. So, combining the two, I decided to give you seven real life individuals who deserve your love for their kind deeds.
Sunil, a Mangalore cab driver, made the news for refusing to accept payment for patients he drove to the hospital. His act lit up social media with over 40...
