It’s truly God's Own Country down in Kerala!

Today's guest post is by travel blogger Shalini Baisiwala and her experiences traveling alone in Kerala. Over to Shalini.
***
In March 2017 I planned a Birthday getaway trip to God’s own country- Kerala for two reasons. 1) I wanted to visit the Kochi Biennale which is this huge art collaboration with artists all over the world that’s hosted in varied locations all over Fort Kochi and 2) I simply love Kerala for its cuisine, natural beauty and cleanliness.
I have earlier...

Should OnePlus3 owners upgrade to the OnePlus 5T?

Yes, the upgraded OnePlus 5T is indeed out barely five months after OnePlus launched their flagship OnePlus 5. Understandably, that left a few OnePlus 5 users miffed since the new phone offered better features at exactly the same price.
While it makes no sense for OnePlus 5 users to upgrade, things aren't that simple when it comes to OnePlus 3 owners now.
Should OnePlus3 owners upgrade to the OnePlus 5T?
I, having resisted the first two flash sales finally succumbed to the temptation and did indeed buy the OnePlus 5T whic...

Spiced Whole Wheat Carrot Cake

For my guest post today, I have Tina Basu showcasing her version of a healthy Spiced whole wheat carrot cake. Why a Healthy Cake
Cakes are heavenly – admit it or not but a sinful cake always uplifts your mood. That however, not necessarily is great for your waistline or your got. Ever since I started baking for my son – who is two at this moment, I have been looking to make the cakes healthier. I try to avoid refined flower as much as possible because too much refined flour do...

Heroes of Kindness: Pooja Pradeep, Letters of Love #WATWB

For the past two years, I have been writing about the Letters of Love initiative (here and here).
It is such a lovely, inspiring act that brings joy to thousands of children who could use it and yet one so simple, you and I can contribute simply by scrolling through our mobile gallery. This year, instead of writing about Letters of Love, I thought it would be better to get into the mind of the person behind it all.

She was just 23 years 'old' when she decided she wanted to make a di...

Who is #OlaRental best suited for?

I have to be honest here. I was a bit sceptical about choosing a rental cab service. I have had some pretty sour experiences in the past. In Mumbai while attending a book launch a few years ago, I was at my wits end arguing with a local rental cab company driver who had claimed a fixed 6 hours ride initially and then charged me double the fare at the end of it, saying with a smirk that the 6 hours included returning me back to the same spot and now I had to pay him the extra fare for his retu...

Recipe - Golden Crumbed Fish #LivogenIronChef

India tops the list of countries with women and children suffering from iron deficiency anemia. That is a sad documented reality
And yet, iron is easily available in so many foods, be it green leafy vegetables, lean meats, shellfish, beans, mushrooms etc. Poverty though holds us back in addition to poor eating habits and choices.
Thus, in looking for a unique iron-rich dish for the #LivogenIronChef to present here, I wanted to factor in a few things:Something different from the usu...

Stop listening to idiots and get your children vaccinated

It was with deep concern and not without some amount of embarrassment that I read the news of how in many Northern parts of Kerala - and yes, my own hometown too figures in that list - parents were refusing to give their children the MMR vaccines. As per the state health minister Shylaja Teacher, only around 58% of the children have been given their doses as of the cut-off date, forcing them to extend the deadline.

It would seem absurd that in 2017, we are still discussing whether to give vacc...

Real-Life hero Cory Hinkle shields accident victim from car explosion #Watwb

When you see an accident between two vehicles and smoke starts to come out of the car, logic tells you that it is going to catch fire and instinct tells you to run away before the car explodes.

Staff Sergeant Cory Hinkle, an Iraq combat veteran, definitely does not read from that same textbook. And because he doesn't, a young mother of two is alive today.

When Hinkle witnessed a head-on collision between two vehicles and noticed smoke, he rushed towards the vehicles instead. Trapped inside was...

Bollywood flops that had awesome music albums

Today's prompt for a blogpost by Write Tribe is "Put your ipod on Shuffle/ turn on the radio to your favourite station - write a post using the song as your prompt."

So I did click the old 'Shuffle' button and the first song that turned up was the melodious 'Saathiya Tune Kiya' from the 1991 Salman Khan-Revathi film 'Love'. Personally, I liked the movie back then and absolutely loved the songs with that awesome combination of S.P. Balasubramaniam and Chitra.

What I do remember is - and mind you...

Tuberculosis: The Terrorist who kills 2 lakh Indians every year

Though a global terrorist, he kills more Indians than any other nationality in the world. He finds us easy targets - poor, vulnerable and easily available in large quantities in sub-par, cramped localities.

Unlike most terrorists, he does not discriminate based on religion or caste. Children, elderly, pregnant women, even babies - he has no qualms in killing them all. He does not kill quickly either. He likes to take his time, teasing and torturing you, breaking you down till you cannot breath...
