Somethings never change. But then somethings do. #BoseQC35

Dear you, hi. It is me... you.
It is the mid-90's over there for you so I am assuming you are just loving the advent of cable television (with so many channels!), three Khans headlining Bollywood, a Jurassic Park movie blowing your mind and a Star Wars and Mission Impossible movie on the way. Well, guess what? 22 years later and here in 2018, everything is exactly the same! Yes, we are still using Microsoft Windows in our computers and Meryl Streep is still nominated for an Oscar even tod...

#WorldCancerDay: We Can, I Can

World Cancer Day is on February 4th.
For three years, from 2016 to 2018, the theme for this day has remained the same: We Can, I Can.

So what does We Can, I Can actually mean? The campaign aims to showcase how we - as individuals as well as a group - can do our bit to reduce the burden of cancer on an individual, a family and a society. Cancer is not someone else's battle. It affects us all. It affects our loved ones. And we can make a difference.

Presently, nearly 9 million individuals die from...

When a City Turned Night into Day for a Little Boy #WATWB

They say only God can turn night into day. They are wrong. Ask the citizens of El Dorado, Kansas.

Peyton Madden is a 11 year old child suffering from the extremely rare genetic disorder xeroderma pigmentosum which prevents his skin from healing itself (unlike ours) when exposed to sunlight. As a result, he can never go out in the morning, attend school or meet his friends in daylight without every single inch of his body being covered.

It is an extremely hard life. The citizens of his community...

Time to #EnsureAStronger2018 for myself

Ah yes... the holiday season is almost over and it is time once more for the New Year Resolutions that make us reflect on our lifestyle. And yes, the most common one in all our lists is always I am going to be healthier this year and lose that holiday weight!
Yes, I can see you smiling in acknowledgment. You know it is on your list too.
For everyone, that race towards a fitter version of ourselves involves the usual classics - regular exercise, a better routine and healthy eating. I am no diffe...

What Vitamin E brings to the table #Evion

Two words: free radicals. The key to understanding the importance of Vitamin E lies in understanding the role of free radicals in your body.
Now normally, you and I tend to smile whenever we hear the word 'free' whether it is describing a product available in the market or our own mental state after an exam. Unfortunately the same happiness does not apply when talking about free radicals.

What are free radicals? While they are formed by natural body processes within you, free radicals...

It is International Blog Delurking Week. Say 'Hello' for a Change

You. Yes, you reading this. This post is aimed at you specifically.
You see, it is International Blog Delurking Week from January 12 - 18 and I know you are one of the lurkers!

a blog lurker is a reader who drops by to read a blogpost and then just goes away without commenting or letting the author know that he's been to their site. In other words, someone like you. *smirks*

What is a blog lurker, you ask? Well, simply put, a blog lurker is a reader who drops by to read a blogpost and then just goes away without commenting or letting the author know that he's been to their site.

In other words, someone like you. *smirks*

It is sadly quite common in the Indian blogosphere to have friends r...

How big is an actual blue whale? #FridayReflections

While talking with a fellow doctor recently, we drifted down to the topic of the largest living creature on the planet. Now it seemed an easy enough answer to me - the blue whale, of course. But his next question really had me stumped.

'How big is an actual blue whale? In comparison to an elephant? Or a human being?'
Now, you and I know to say 'Very big' but do you know the actual figures? Sure we studied it as kids once upon a time but I honestly did not remember. My guess that day to him (wit...

My Word of the Year for 2018 #WOTY

2017 exhausted me. That really is as simple as I can put it.
I found myself carrying the weight of the world on my back. I was constantly grinding my teeth as I read article after article of outright hatred in the media. Yes, these events did not concern me and happened hundreds of miles away but the injustice rankled.
In my personal life too, it was a year that just had moments of loss, resignation and stress all around with a strain of anger pushing at the edges every day. I was a...

Make a 'Good Times List' as the year ends #UnwrapChristmas

‘I am celebrating the spirit of Christmas with the #UnwrapChristmas blogpost chain.I am thankful to Kala Ravi for passing on the baton of spreading Christmas joy and spirit to me.’

One of the unique aspects of the concept of Santa Claus is how he keeps track of whether you've been naughty or nice. The idea behind the tale is obvious - to motivate (trick?) the young ones into being nice little boys and girls if they want to be in Santa's good books. As the year winds down, kids write lette...

VLCC DNA Wellness – a revolutionary weight loss concept

C, G, A, T.What if I told you these four alphabets played a major role in why you are tall or short, bald or hairy and yes, even thin or fat? Would you believe me? Here's the thing. You don't have to believe me. Believe in science.
The two purines (Adenine and Guanine) and pyrimidines (Thymine and Cytosine) in constant sequences of strands linked together form the most famous double helix of the world - your DNA.
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the molecule that holds the genet...
