Who Should You Prove Yourself To?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
You are worthy. You are deserving. There is nothing you have to do to prove yourself to anyone.
It’s all-too-easy to get caught up in living up to the expectations of others, real and imagined. You want to be a good friend, lover, parent, sibling, child, human being, etc. Then, looking at the actions of others and seeing both good and bad, you hold yourself up to them, and question, “What’s my value in this world?”
I know where you are coming from. I have spent a lot of my life trying to live up to the expectations, both real and imagined, that I have encountered. This is an ongoing process, with both good days and bad days. I get concerned about the impression I make, how what I do impacts others, and whether I am worthy or deserving of living the best that I can.
The truth is that we are all worthy and deserving of living as best we can. Nobody is here just to merely survive – you and I are meant to thrive. Living in a fear-based society chock-full of mixed messages, this can feel like an impossible task.
Who should you prove yourself to?
How do you see your own worth? How do you feel deserving of being content, even happy in this life? Let me ask you this – who do you have to prove yourself to?
There are three very distinct judges our society looks to for determining worth and value in humanity. They can conflict, cause strife, dissent, and even have led to numerous wars.
These three judges, in no particular order, are:
You yourself
Other people, from friends and lovers to total strangers of varying degrees of importance
God, the Universe, or whatever conscious higher power a person may believe in
This can be really daunting, because the judgments of others and a higher power you may or may not believe in are completely, totally, and utterly out of your control. Because they are outside of you, there is no way to know just how they think or feel about you, if at all.
Since you can’t know what it’s going to take to prove yourself to these outside forces, why allow their judgment of you to dictate your feeling of worth and overall value? Look how unhappy people are because they are struggling every day to live up to the unknown metrics established by other people or unseen entitie(s) for being worthy and deserving of anything at all.
Outside validation is fleeting, frequently conflicted, and is different from each and every outside person or being. What’s more, while you might prove yourself worthy to one of them, that proof may not apply to another.
This is why the person that you need to prove yourself to is you yourself.
You are the only one in your head
When we allow these people or entities outside of ourselves to judge our worth and value, we ultimately are devaluing ourselves. Like perfection being in the eye of the beholder, what you are worthy and deserving of comes down to believing in yourself.
When we judge ourselves based on expectations outside of ourselves, this is hard. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, or any other mental health issue, this gets even harder. This is why practicing mindfulness makes you aware of your thoughts and feelings, and helps you be more capable of recognizing your worth and value.
You know right from wrong, good and bad, and what makes you happy or unhappy. You are the best and only valid judge of you. Learn to trust yourself, and work with mindfulness to be the best you that you can be.
You are worthy. You are deserving. There is nothing you have to do to prove yourself to anyone.
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action
Knowing that the only person you actually need to prove yourself to is yourself, you can work to better see how worthy and deserving you truly are. When we stop letting the known and unknown opinions of others dictate how we value ourselves, and we work with mindfulness on recognizing our worth, we ultimately empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we become more aware and mindful and tend to spread that feeling to others around us. As such, we can build more positive feelings and positivity.
We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we eradicate negative feelings, we open up space to let in more positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.
Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. An attitude of gratitude is a positive attitude that begets even more good energies, and that, like you, is always worthwhile.

It Is Never Too Late
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Change can happen at any time. You get to decide when to choose. It is never too late to take a new path in life, and change things for the better.
There is, in our society, something of a timeline for things. In your late teens and early twenties, for example, you are expected to either get your college education or vocational training. In your late twenties and early thirties you’re expected to settle into your career, find a spouse, and get married. It goes on and on.
First, it’s super important to point out that no two people are alike. College really is not for everyone, and trades may be an excellent choice. Second, the expectations on the part of our society going into our late twenties and beyond are still wrapped up in misogyny, heteronormative expectations for marriage and procreation, as well as other outdated ideas supported by none but some nostalgic old white guys.
Third, these timelines are utterly and completely artificial. There are numerous reasons why people don’t attend college or choose a trade in their early twenties. But more importantly than that, it is never too late to choose anew.
Life is all about choices. What’s more, very, very few of those choices are permanent. Given that the Universe is in a constant state of change, and nothing is truly static, change is inevitable. That being said, is they any reason why you cannot choose to make changes of your own accord?
It is never too late to make a new choice.
Nothing is written in stone
Who you are today is not who you were last year and is certainly not who you will be next year. In many unseen ways, you will change. It is also entirely possible that changes will happen that are very noticeable.
We often think about change in regards to the relatively superficial. Hair color and style, weight gain and loss, the homes we live in, cars we drive, and so on. Beyond these, however, we can make choices to change anything and everything that makes up our life experiences.
How? Mindfulness.
Consciousness creates reality. To become more aware of your consciousness requires more mindfulness. Being mindful is being aware of what you are thinking, what and how you are feeling, and intentional actions you take from there to live your life.
Being mindful of who you are, what you are thinking and feeling, and what you are doing in the here-and-now allows you to clarify the choices you have made in the past, and those you can make now. As such, when you make a decision to change, it is never too late to do so.
There is no set, one-true-way to do anything. Likewise, there is no singular timeline dictating when and how things must occur. If you want to get really technical, linear time is an artifice of our own creation.
What it all comes down to is that it is never too late to change. You can make new decisions and different choices for your life and how you live it at any time whatsoever.
Never too late to make choices
There are any number of stories about retirees getting degrees, stay-at-home mothers starting businesses, and people making drastic career changes in middle age. Is there anything about them that you are lacking?
No. And yes. You have the same ability to decide to change your life, whenever and however you like. It is entirely up to you to become mindful of who you are, how you got to where you are, and what you need to do in order to create something different.
The people in these stories have drive. They have made no-nonsense decisions to go ahead and make changes that they feel will bring them new adventures and awesomeness. Like you, they were undoubtedly scared about the outcome, getting it wrong, and screwing up along the way.
They most likely also have people in their lives that warned them about this. You’re retired, why are you going back to school? You’ve been focused on your kids for a decade, do you know how much energy goes into starting a new business? For twenty years you have worked as an admin, do you really think it’s such a good idea to open a restaurant? While such questions are “well-meaning” in practice, they are fear-based and can be super harmful.
Anyone can decide at any time to choose to make changes. If you are dissatisfied with where you are in life, nothing says you cannot choose differently now.
Of course, in our fear-based society that is too often focused on lack and scarcity, there is one other major factor to be addressed.
You are worthy and deserving
Not only is it never too late to make decisions and changes, but there is also no reason you do not deserve to do so. You bring value to the world, and you are a worthwhile human being. If you are unsatisfied with your life as it is currently, no matter how old you are, or what your situation is, it’s never too late to change it.
We get one lifetime to live on this planet, inside our heads, as the people we are. Despite messages otherwise, we deserve to live the fullest, most satisfying and enjoyable lives we can. We are not here merely to survive but to thrive. This is why we are capable of creating incredible, unique, and awesome lives.
Human consciousness is, as far as we know, totally unique in the animal kingdom on this planet. We adapt to our environment, build machines that allow us to travel almost surreal distances, and connect globally through technology. Every single invention was the product of someone’s vision. Many faced obstacles and obstructions in trying to make these things we take for granted a part of our reality.
You are capable of the same creativity. You are no less worthy nor deserving of success than anyone else. It is never too late to choose a new path, take a new course, and build a life that brings you satisfaction, contentment, and joy.
Knowing it is never too late to change, what might you do that is different than what you do now?
This is the three-hundred eighty-sixth entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality. Positivity Sets Your Frequency
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Positivity can raise your frequency to improve life daily.
Everything is energy. Whether it is the smallest subatomic particle or the largest star in the cosmos, the base of everything is energy. All energy vibrates and vibrates at a frequency. Like an older radio with a dial, you can tune into various frequencies, and sometimes you will get static while other times you get signal.
Higher frequency vibrations are positive, while lower frequency vibrations are negative. I do not know precisely why, except everything I have read or listened to from multiple perspectives explains it thus. From personal experience, I would also hazard the guess based on the feelings.
While this varies from person to person in the precise explanation of the feeling, when you feel good you feel energized. It feels as if you are more energetic, your energy levels are higher, and your abilities to make things happen more powerful. You may even feel as if you are “up” and higher energy – which could be translated to higher frequency.
Conversely, when you feel bad you feel sapped. It feels as if you are less energetic, your energy levels are lower, and your abilities to make things happen less powerful. You may even feel as if you are “down” and lower energy – which could be translated to lower frequency.
Nobody but you can feel what and how you feel. When all is said and done, you can influence and control your energy levels. Were it not for outside input, this would be far easier.
We live in a fear-based society. Fear is a negative, low-energy, low-vibration feeling. Because like attracts like, we tend to draw from the low energy of the collective conscious, unless we make a mindful effort to do otherwise.
Mindfulness is your frequency tuner
The best way to overcome the influence of our fear-based society is mindfulness. Mindfulness involves you becoming consciously aware of your thoughts and feelings. When you are more aware of what you are thinking and how and what you are feeling, you become more capable of altering them.
This is not a quick fix. The truth is, however, that there are no quick fixes. No magic pills, no special exercises that will instantly change your life exist. Sure, people have near-instant epiphanies from time to time, but mostly that’s fiction.
When you work on being mindful, you need to ask specific questions to know what’s actually going on in your head. These can include:
What am I thinking?
What am I feeling?
How am I feeling?
What am I doing?
It may surprise you how often you are half-aware of the answers at best. This, I suspect, is due to the way our society encourages us to swim in the current of the collective consciousness.
The collective consciousness is the result of the Law of Attraction in action. Like attracts like. Mass media creates a story, and much of that story is negative, fear-based, and focused on lack and scarcity.
You and I are frequently bullied into buying into that story, and further contributing to it.
If you step away from the herd, do something unusual, take a risk or choose the unconventional, how do people usually react? Encouragement or discouragement? Do we tend to applaud the unique, or shy away from it?
Mindfulness if your own thoughts and feelings will help you make your own choices, and positivity will raise your frequency. You are capable of creating amazing things. Don’t let the fear of the unknown keep your frequency low. Find positivity.
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action
Knowing that positivity raises our vibrational frequency, we can be more mindful of the frequencies our thoughts and feelings tune us into. When we use our awareness and work to consciously create our reality by seeking out positivity to raise our frequency, we ultimately empower ourselves.

Does Mindfulness Empower?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Mindfulness empowers you.
The world appears to be going mad. Every single day something new happens that defies logic, and it feels like hope is being stripped away from us.
This is what they want. When you feel hopeless, that disempowers you. When you feel disempowered, they believe that it empowers them to run roughshod over everyone.
I read the news and get infuriated, depressed, and start to feel all kinds of negatives. Why are all of these illogical things happening? How can these people be so callous, disrespectful, selfish, and downright evil?
The problem is that the power they feel and cling to as they do is utterly artificial. Their positions in government are tenuous, no matter how hard they grasp hold of them. Yet they believe that with their power they can take and take and take, missing the entire point of why their offices or business positions exist.
What’s more, the people who can and should stand up to them have been bullied, bludgeoned, and otherwise cowed into believing that they do them good. How many of the people who are most hurt by terrible, hateful laws put those people in their so-called power in the first place?
It all comes down to fear. People have fears, many of which are built upon artificial and superficial foundations. These people exploit that and do all that they can to keep people misinformed, uneducated, and disinterested in the process to empower only themselves. Fear is used like a weapon of mass destruction to keep people disempowered.
This is why mindfulness is so very important. Mindfulness empowers you.
How does mindfulness empower?
Mindfulness is awareness of yourself. Specifically, awareness of what you are thinking and how and what you are feeling. Knowing your own thoughts and feelings gives you the power to make choices and decisions about actions in order to move your life along.
Many people don’t understand how much of what we need in this world begins within. Nobody but you is inside your own head, and that’s something super-important to grasp. Because nobody is in there with you, what and how you think and feel about yourself is the basis for everything that makes up your life.
If you believe that you have no power and that you can do nothing to change anything, then that is exactly what you create. Most of the so-called powerful people are no different from you and me, with one key exception: They believe in themselves.
People who believe in themselves, and who they intend to be, create realities that they desire. Everyone has this ability.
Many of those who have so-called power tend to believe that in order to retain power, they need to prevent others from believing in themselves. Further, they strive to get people to believe in them, and as such look without for what they could better have from looking within.
Mindfulness empowers you to be a conscious creator. Whether consciously or subconsciously, you are always creating your reality. When doing so consciously, you can make choices and decisions to go places you desire to go.
You are more powerful than you realize
I know how disheartening the world can be right now. The amount of negativity being spread and shared is overwhelming. If you’re any kind of empath, it’s even worse. It can feel like there is nothing that you personally can do to fix this.
That is totally not true. By being mindful of your own thoughts and feelings, you can choose actions that will impact your life directly. When you work on changing your life, you create channels by which you can work to improve the lives of the people around you.
How? Do you know someone who just seems to always have it together? They seem to know what they desire for their life, they choose and decide things fairly quickly, and they always seem to have clarity of purpose? That is because they are mindful of their thoughts and feelings, and consciously acting upon them to create their reality.
Reality is what you believe it to be. Because we are all connected energetically, in that energy we create a collective consciousness. That, in turn, forms the basis of the overall reality in which we find our lives.
Along the way, people no different from me and you have visions of another reality. They become mindful of this vision, and they focus on it with no alternative, nor allowing doubts to override them. They create things like cars, airplanes, telephones, and the like because they see them as being part of their reality for the world.
These people are no smarter, wiser, stronger, or more powerful than you or I. They recognized how mindfulness empowers, and they did what they could to make that a real reality.
You and I are capable of the same thing.
Mindfulness empowers vision
When you work on being the best you that you can be, and you strive to be aware of how you think and feel, you start to take control. Control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions influences the reality you live in. You can make better-informed choices, and you can decide not to be disempowered by the madness. When you do this, it tends to present an example to the people in your life and inspires them to make different choices as well.
This is why I write about mindfulness, conscious reality creation, and positivity constantly. The best self-help and inspiration comes from within. Yes, outside influences can inspire you or discourage you, but only as much as you allow them to. You have the power to choose for yourself. Take that power, make use of it, and believe in yourself and your ability to improve your reality.
When you improve your reality, you can use that to influence and inspire others to do the same. The more people who become empowered, the more we can make positive, better changes to the world at large.
No matter what you may now believe, you are worthy and deserving of living in an amazing reality. Don’t let the madness of the outside world divert your intent to be the best you that you can be. Mindfulness empowers you.
Do you know what all you are capable of?
This is the three-hundred eighty-fifth entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality. Can a Laugh Generate Positivity?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
What makes you laugh?
Do you know how much positivity a laugh can generate? Laughter is a gateway to positivity.
I know there are lots of times that laughing seems challenging at best. Spend enough time on social media and you will be inundated with plenty of things that are not funny. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do things that make us smile.
When you tune in to the doom and gloom, and that is where you place most of your focus, it should come as no surprise that you will most likely find more doom and gloom. Like attracts like, focus on negative and you will unwittingly attract more to you.
Instead, take a moment and step away. Rather than allow yourself to be drawn into the depressing, enraging, and otherwise surreal happenings out there, find calm. From the calm, find something to make yourself laugh.
Cat videos are everywhere online. There are lots of comedians who are funny, and tons of other resources to get you laughing. I just caught a special this weekend that, even after watching twice, was hilariously funny. Haven’t laughed that hard or that much, in years.
I know that, given world affairs, you might feel guilty for finding something to laugh at. But the truth is, staying negative will do nothing to change anything. Positive change requires positive energy. To change from negativity to positivity, we need to find more positive things to focus on.
Trying to undo what is won’t change it. Instead, we need to do something different, something new and move forward. Remember, whether Einstein or someone else said it, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”
Laugh to release the negativity
Yes, it is important to be aware of the awful things happening out there. However, holding on to the negative feelings that they will generate cannot change them. We need to find an alternative, and we need to put our energy behind empowering that. In order to do that, we have to release the negativity.
A great way to release negative energies is to laugh. Laughter is an energetic activity, moving air and muscles in the body, and in the process opening new channels. A laugh is an energetic reset, which can release unpleasant thoughts and feelings.
Another benefit of laughter is how it can clear a fog. When you are feeling overwhelmed, upset, or generally unhappy, or muddled because of the excess of feelings all at the same time, a laugh is a release. It is a total energy change and can carry you past the moment, bring you more completely into the now, and from there help you to refocus.
When your mind is jumbled by too much, laughter can make you mindful, and help you to regain influence and control over your thoughts and feelings. This provides an opportunity to change your negative energy, and to get into the now, where you can create any necessary changes.
Don’t let them overwhelm you with fear and anxiety. Allow yourself to laugh, because in doing so you re-energize. With that new energy, you can generate positivity, with which you can find new and better solutions to first improve your life, then work from there to improve the world.
Easier said than done? Maybe…but that makes it no less worthwhile.
What makes you laugh?
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action
Knowing that laughter changes your energy, you have a tool to replace negativity with positivity. When we laugh, we open ourselves up to being mindful and aware of our thoughts and feelings – and when we do that, we ultimately empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we become more aware and mindful, and tend to spread that feeling to others around us. As such, we can build more positive feelings.
We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we eradicate negative feelings, we open up space to let in more positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.
Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. An attitude of gratitude is a positive attitude that begets even more good energies, and that is always worthwhile.

Are You Who You Desire to Be?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Are you who you desire to be? If not, why not?
This is a simple question, certainly, but the answer is likely complicated.
As children, we all have dreams and aspirations. You wanted to be an astronaut, or a firefighter, or a doctor, or an explorer seeking new lands and opportunities. The things you wanted to do as a child may have been realistic, or very out there and fantastic.
Then you get slapped in the face by “reality.” During your time in school, while you were learning essential things that would help you as an adult, you also learned a lot of things that were “true” – except that they actually are not.
For example: Being an artist/writer/singer and the like is a struggle; you cannot possibly make money as an explorer; a person needs a college education to get a decent job; you come from the wrong background to be ‘X’; if you dream too big you will only crash harder when reality hits you. All of these and similar get tossed out there, often by well-meaning people who believe they are looking out for your best interests.
Our society loves labels. Many of these labels are complete garbage, and mostly cause artificial divisions to be created. There is something of an expectation in our culture for how to behave, what to do, and what to be; at the same time, there is this message that you can be anything you choose. Is it any wonder there is so much depression and anxiety out there?
A lot of people are not who they desire to be, because they believed the messages about what is and is not possible.
Consciousness creates reality. It is never too late to make a change.
Do you desire to be someone you are not?
In an ideal world, what would you do with yourself? Who would you be? Have you actually considered and visualized the perfect day in your perfect life?
Because we believe the “truth” about how our society works, we frequently compromise or even outright sacrifice our desires for the expected. When you decide that the world around you knows better than you what is best for your life, that’s what occurs.
I do feel the need to interject a slight downer here. For some life choices, there is a lot of preliminary work involved. For example, you want to be a doctor? The road to medical school and the degree is long and hard, and will require a lot of fortitude and strength. Not impossible, but it will be challenging.
The creation of some realities requires laser focus, and serious, hard and smart work. However, nothing worth having is ever easy. The work that goes into its creation causes a level of appreciation that in turn builds up positivity and strengthens your gratitude. From there, you open yourself to even more.
So what if you are in a life you would prefer not to be? What if you have desires and aspirations for something different? You get to choose to make it so. Or not.
Yes, for some people this is a major challenge and would require a significant life change. For others, this is going to be entirely a mental shift. It may take time and energy, and it may impact the world around you. But you are worthy and deserving of creating a life that lights you up.
Choices and decisions may have unintended consequences
First, it is super important to state this: You have no control over how anybody else feels. Yes, your actions may impact people, but you cannot control how anybody else feels.
This is not a license to intentionally cause distress or emotional harm to anyone else. Seeking to hurt someone does no good for anyone, and won’t help you get to a better place in life. Wouldn’t it be great if many of our selfish, so-called leaders cared more for other people than their own power? If they did, the rich would be paying a fair share of taxes, and funding education, housing, infrastructure, and other places for necessary growth. But I digress.
Second, you are the only one inside your head. As such, you alone know what you are thinking, and what and how you are feeling. Because this is the case, you get to choose what to do with it.
To consciously create any reality, you have to take a thought, energize it with feeling, and then take intentional actions to make it real. For example, let’s say you have an idea for an amazing restaurant. The idea is the thought about the restaurant. Then you need to feel what it would be like to be there, to experience the restaurant business as YOUR life, and really FEEL it, as much in the now as is possible.
The idea is hatched, the feelings have energized it – now you need to take intentional actions that will get you from where you are to where you desire to be. This is going to involve multiple actions, and they are going to have consequences.
Some are intended. Getting ServSafe certified, for example. Some are unintended, like the now-former coworker who is getting your job responsibilities when you leave.
Does your desire to be other than you are outweigh who you are now?
This is important, in especial if the changes you desire to make are at all drastic. Because you will likely cause hurt and disruption in other people, and well-meaning but unhelpful concerns for your wellbeing that will be tossed your way, you need to stay strong. It is very easy to give in.
What’s more, pursuing your dream and going after what you truly desire to be in this life is full of challenges, obstacles, and difficulties along the way. You and your resolve will be tested. The Universe is abundant, but since nothing worth having is ever easy, and you may be making a pretty drastic shift in your life, you’ll have your work cut out for you.
Remember, you are worthy and deserving of having a great life. We only get one go around this ball circling that sun. We are not meant to live in toil and tedium, we are capable of more. So long as you are not actively denying anyone else freedom or hope, you can create for yourself an incredible opportunity, whatever form it takes for you.
Study, become knowledgeable about how you desire to be will look when you are there. Empower yourself to succeed, and you can. Don’t give up when it gets hard, and know that you can find support when you need it.
Will you do what it takes to be whom you desire to be?
This is the three-hundred eighty-fourth entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality. Speaking Your Truth
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Speaking your truth is an incredible source of positivity.
A lot of people may find this hard to believe, but that makes it no less true. When you speak your truth, you open yourself up because you are being your most true, genuine self.
While it can be scary to show the world who you are by speaking your truth, it is unbelievably freeing. This is because in speaking your truth, you take away the masks, the veils, the cloaks, and all other devices under which you may have hidden your true self.
Just to clarify – speaking your truth is very specific to you being you. It is showing your true colors and thoughts to not just the world at large, but also and ultimately to yourself. Speaking your truth is judgmental of nobody, nor intentionally hurtful to anyone – it is you being true about who you are.
What this involves is not hiding behind a persona you believe others expect of you. It is about wearing your own face, being who you are, and not hiding it for fear of reprisal, judgment, or anything else.
For example, let’s say you hide your gender from the world. You present what you think the world expects of you, but that is not who you are. Speaking your truth would be opening yourself to being the truest you that you can be.
This would cause nobody intentional harm, nor pass judgment upon them in some way – it would simply allow you to open yourself to being truly mindful of who you are. Mindfulness is the key to self-love, and making informed choices about the life you desire to live.
Speaking your truth can be scary – but it’s worth it
One of the greatest fears most who do not speak their truth turn to is fear of rejection. When you speak your truth, and be your truest self, there is a fear that people close to you will reject you. They will turn away, and you may lose them.
Well, the truth is, that they might. You may lose people because they cannot handle the true you. Yes, this might hurt – but it also opens the door to broader positivity. Why? Because those who leave you due to their own inability to handle your truth likely were never true themselves. Further, they may prove to have been sources of negativity in your life.
It is no fun to lose people from your life. However, when you are being the truest you that you can be, you open yourself to living the fullest life that you can. You can do nothing to control other people’s thoughts, feelings, or actions. Mindfulness, and speaking your truth, however, let’s you influence and control YOUR thoughts, feelings, and actions better.
We live in an imperfect world. Many, out of fear of their own loss and rejection, see the world as full of mostly lack and scarcity. But this is not the truth. The Universe is abundant, so there is more than enough good to go around.
Speaking your truth doesn’t deny anyone else theirs. That’s not what this is about. You get to be your truest self. In doing this, you get to choose and decide how to live life as best you can.
You are the only you there is
This is not going to be easy. There can and will be challenges when your truth disrupts and upsets the perception of you that other people have. The reward, however, far outweighs the risk. You being you gives you more tools to better the whole world in the process.
Be mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and strive to speak your truth and be yourself. There is only one chance to live this life – take it and make all that you can of it.
Remember this: You are not alone. Support you lose was likely disingenuous; those you keep and gain will be in tune with the true you. Speaking your truth could be the most positive thing you do for yourself, and from there for the world.
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action
Knowing that speaking your truth give you the opportunity to be true to yourself, you have an incredible tool to build positivity. When we speak our truths and be who we ultimately desire to be, we empower ourselves.

Do I Know Who I Am?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
I am not going to hold back any longer. I am showing who I am.
No more hiding aspects of who I am. The time is at hand for me to be the best me possible.
There are many aspects of myself that I tend to make light of, or give little to no acknowledgement of. Some of this has come from concerns about how people will take it. While other parts of it are my own internal fears.
One of the toughest questions to answer for a lot of people, and this was hard for me for a long time, is:
Who are you?
Even if you are not getting into an in depth existential inquiry about who you are, this can be a tough question to answer. Why? I think because we spend so much of our time reliving the past and focusing ahead to the future that we lose sight of the now. Only in the now is the answer true.
Who I was last year is not who I am now. Of course there are similarities and likenesses, but because the Universe constantly changes, who I am has changed. By this same token, who I will be next year is not who I was last year, nor who I am now. Same issue – change is constant.
Much of change is subtle and not easy to see. In particular, people tend to change slowly.
What you see in fiction is seldom true
How many stories are there where the protagonist has that great big “Ah-hah!” moment? Whether it’s Ebenezer Scrooge gaining a new outlook or Rey realizing she can use the Force, that instantaneous moment is always powerful.
In real life, for the most part, change is not instant. It takes time, because it takes concentrated effort. In especial when most change happens in the ebb and flow of life.
This is where becoming mindful impacts this. When you are aware of what you are thinking and how and what you are feeling, right here and now, you are mindful. As you gain mindfulness of your self, you gain the answer to the question of who you are.
Who I am
Who I am is not going to be who you are. Why does that matter? Because in addition to our society’s tendencies to look to the past and the future more than the now, we also tend to compare ourselves to others. In fact, we are frequently encouraged to compare ourselves to other people, to see how much more or less valuable than them we are.
This is just another aspect of our fear-based society and the use of lack and scarcity to control people. See what you have? Notice what you don’t have? What’s wrong with you?
Isn’t it amazing how easily we judge others? Often, in judging others, we also judge ourselves. But this easily gets out of hand quickly. Rather than seeing our strengths and positives, we see our lack, weaknesses, and negatives.
I am a champion at seeing my own shortcomings. I can tell you all day long about my mistakes, my failings, my screw-ups, and every other thing I haven’t gotten quite right. When it comes to my successes, my better qualities, and my victories, however, odds are I am going to remain silent.
Why? Perception. This is not just how I perceive myself, it’s also how I believe other people perceive me. And that is a hell of a trap to ensnare yourself in.
Perception is in the eye of the beholder
Every single person on this planet, all seven billion plus, has a unique perception of their world. There may well be similarities, but beyond that are the singular ways in which each of us thinks and feels.
How I think and feel is not the same as how you do.
Even when you are mindful, the only person you are truly mindful of is yourself. All other perceptions are actually assumptions about the perceptions of others, and can’t be factual because you are incapable of being in anyone else’s head.
You can be given the most vivid, well explained description of how and what another person is feeling and thinking, but it will still be nothing more than an impression. This is because there is nobody but you in your head, and everyone else is only in their own head.
What does joy feel like? Without actually describing it, I am pretty certain that my best detailed description will not be exactly the same as yours or anyone else’s. It may resonate and be pretty close, but it will still be different.
Perception is unique to each and every one of us. So who I am, as far as I know, is going to differ from who you may think I am.
So even in showing you who I am, your perception of me will differ from my own. Which begs the question – why do we so readily pretend to be other than we truly are?
Be the best of yourself
This is why I am showing who I am. I want to be the best me that I can be. For too long I have allowed myself to do this halfway. But that will not allow me to be the best me possible.
However you may perceive me, yourself, or anyone else, since it will be different and incomparable, denying or hiding aspects does not and should not matter.
Who I am is a worthy, deserving, and mindful man striving to live as a writer and healer, sharing ideas and concepts to open people to their own awareness and to imagination. I am a storyteller and humanist who believes that people are generally good and can become better. Conscious reality creation, mindfulness, and almost infinite possibilities are part of this abundant universe we live in.
I am striving to be the best me that I can be. In doing so, it is my desire to help you and anyone else interested in working to be the best that YOU can be. To do so, showing who I am allows me to speak my truth more clearly, and release fear about perceptions and outcomes over which I’ve no control.
It feels good to open this door. The next step, of course, is to walk through it.
Do you practice being who you are to the fullest extent you can?
This is the three-hundred eighty-third entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality. What is Perspective?
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
Perspective is unique to each of us.
What you may consider amazing and incredible, I might consider ridiculous and unremarkable. Every single person on the planet has their own viewpoints on absolutely everything.
To be sure, we can come together in communities that share ideals and other things. But even there, it’s a matter of perspective. How many wars have been fought over which viewpoint of God is the right one, for example?
Perspective is based upon your life experiences, beliefs, background, education, upbringing, influences, and any number of sources over the course of your life. You will learn new things all the time, but what you do with what you learn is entirely up to you.
For a lot of people, they just accept things they are told. Often, though, this began when they were children, and because the ability to reason comes around puberty, many of the things we learn and take to heart before then embed themselves unquestioned. Then, as we get older and exposed to personal philosophies, ideas, and communities, it can be easy to let them enfold you in their perspective like a down blanket on a cold winter night.
But the truth is, your perspective is yours, and unique to you. Nobody else is inside your head, so nobody else can think or feel exactly in the manner in which you do. This, however, is not something generally taught to us by anyone. In part because it’s one of those things that you are expected to just know, because you are human. In part, this is one of those things that is incredibly simple, but we as a species have chosen to complicate through the ages.
This is where mindfulness matters.
Becoming mindful of your perspective
This is not awareness of politics, current events, and the outside world. This is real awareness of yourself. When you get in touch with what you are thinking, and how and what you are feeling, you are working on mindfulness.
This is where perspective exists. Whether you are aware of your thoughts and feelings or no, your perspective of the world and everyone and everything comes from this. Inside your head is composed entirely of thought and feeling, and that forms perspective.
When you are conscious of your thought and feeling, mindful of where this is taking you, you also become mindful of your perspective. In being mindful of your perspective you gain the ability to choose if you wish to take a positive or a negative approach to life.
Is your perspective of life one of struggle, hardship, and futility? Or is it one of opportunity, wonder and potential? The choice is entirely up to you. No matter how bad things may have been along the way, you can still decide to turn life around. Altering your perspective can do this.
Mindfulness opens your perspective up to new possibilities. You get to choose whether to view the world with possibility or worthlessness. This begins by seeing your self worth and possibility. Every change begins with you.
Your life, and your perspective, make you who you are. It is unique to you, and you alone. What will you do to make this life as amazing as possible?
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action
Knowing that you can use mindfulness to alter your perspective of the world, you can choose to decide whether that is positive or negative. When we see how our unique perspective of the world can impact and alter our lives for the better, we ultimately empower ourselves.

Recognizing the Three Brands of Truth
This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.
In any argument or discussion, there will always be three truths. Yours, Mine, and the Absolute.
If you believe that the truth is the truth, you are right – but you are also wrong. This is because in many instances the truth is entirely dependent on viewpoint.
In Return of the Jedi, Luke confronts Obi-Wan’s Force ghost about claiming that Darth Vader murdered his father, rather than telling him Vader WAS his father.
Obi-Wan: “Your father was seduced by the dark side of the Force. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.”
Luke: “A certain point of view?”
Obi-Wan: “Luke, you’re going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.”
That last line is the perfect explanation of this. Point of view will influence truths we cling to.
Let’s look at a modern example: Climate change. One the one side, the argument is that this is a man-made problem we need to address before we destroy the planet. On the other side, the argument is that this is not a real problem, and that we can’t destroy the planet through our actions. The absolute truth falls somewhere in the middle, which I am not going to get into here because that will derail this entire topic.
One idea. Three brands of truth.
Why recognizing the truth of truth matters
The number of arguments we can get into on any given topic are pretty broad. Even well researched, scientifically accepted and well-proven notions can be approached from different truths.
For example:
My Truth: The Earth is Round.
Your Truth: The Earth is Flat.
The Absolute: The Earth is an oblate ellipsoid (a spherethat’s swollen at the equator and squashed at the poles).
Obi-Wan’s words ring pretty true right there. One notion, three truths.
Part of why I am bringing this up is because in this example we KNOW the absolute. There are many, many other “truths” in this world where we know my brand and your brand, but the absolute is still a mystery.
Examples of this include the existence of a God or Gods, other religious beliefs, morality, good versus evil, right versus wrong, and on and on. All matters of great debate, in some cases with way more than two truths, but either a vague or unknown absolute.
That doesn’t mean that there is no absolute. What it does mean, however, is that because we do not know it, this will be open for debate constantly.
Mindfulness is not concerned with the truth
Often we are told that we need to get to the truth of the matter. It’s important to know the truth. However, since in many cases the absolute is a mystery, this quest can be somewhat fruitless. As such, it can be frustrating, and ultimately a waste of time.
Note – I am not disregarding the importance of getting to the truth when it comes to certain specific events, like murders and robberies and cheaters getting their comeuppance. But when it comes to you and I consciously creating reality, mindfulness is not about finding the truth.
Mindfulness is becoming more aware of what you are thinking, how and what you are feeling, and the actions you take from there. Our perceptions, which is what our thoughts and feelings bring to us, are going to be colored by our life experiences, education, social circumstances, personal beliefs, and numerous other factors.
How a white man in the northeast of the United States comes by his experience is going to be very different from how a black woman in Botswana comes by hers. The truths both know and cling to will probably be quite disparate in many regards.
How you think and what and how you feel are going to be products of this. Hence why mindfulness is not concerned with the truth. Mindfulness is only concerned with becoming more aware, rather than being subconsciously carried along by the currents of life.
Conscious reality creation
When you are mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and actions, you can make use of these to consciously create your reality. As Einstein postulated,
“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”
If that is so, then we are capable of creating our own reality. Whether you believe in conscious reality creation, or the Law of Attraction, or not, you are still empowered to make choices and decisions that will make up your life.
You are only a victim of circumstance if you choose to be. By the same token, if you cling too hard to certain truths, in particular those with an unknown absolute, you could easily miss out on the best possible life options. Whatever you might desire to experience, the truth you hold onto might just be keeping you from it…or even something better.
Yes, this might be a bitter pill to swallow. However, recognizing this and focusing more on being kind, empathetic, and joyful can create not just a better reality for you, but for everyone. Fixation on finding the “truth” can really hold you back.
How many medical and scientific advancements do you think might be held back by the quest for the truth of God? Do you observe how many wars are fought over opposing truths? How many people sacrifice living a full and satisfying life in the name of seeking out, defending, or opposing some truth or other?
Knowing that truth comes in three brands, mine, yours, and the absolute, you can decide for yourself when focusing on it is worthwhile, and when it may not be. You are empowered to be mindful and aware of this. When you are, you can better choose the directions you desire to take your life.
Can you see for yourself that “truth” has three distinct perspectives?
This is the three-hundred eighty-second entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality.
