Six Months & Counting

It’s been about 6 months since my foray back into WordPress territory. Since the demise of my Joomla! based website that I’d maintained for several years, I figured that something requiring less maintenance might be a good change.

My current blog is WordPress-hosted and I don’t regret my decision one bit.

The Worpress community is vibrant and populated by a terrific melting pot of uniquely talented individuals, some of who I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with over the past few months.

Blood Binds #5

- Half Baked Prodigy,Part One -

Hel flipped the light switch and closed the door to her closet where Kyle slept, seemingly without a care in the world.

“What now?” vaguely apprehensive, she slid Charls a sidelong glance. “Just how long do you suppose he’ll be out like this?”

“Theoretically, it should only be until nightfall,” he reckoned.

She mumbled an oath under-breath when he proceeded to follow her down the hallway. Gearing up for another lecture, was he? Already irritated, she stalked into t...

Daily prompt: Creatively

A little something to tease the muses.

Expression is an interesting word, I find. It is such a simple word for an act that does so much. Everyone has their way to share how they feel, Mine? is through photography andevery so often creating videos like the one above. Nature is where I retreat when I need...

Fairy Tail Returns

I was really disappointed when Fairy Tail suddenly ended a while back. Then I was happy to learn that there will be more of the adventures of dragon slayer Natsu Dragneel and his crazy, powerful friends.

This new seriespromises to be intense and stupefying. The first series is being simulcast on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Crunchyroll has series two of Fairy Tale listed as a brand new series, starting at episode one. Funimation has it as a continuation picking up at episode 146.

The second seri...

FridayFlash: Starfall

A lonesome star had once borne a solitary planet and to keep her company, had gifted her a crown of golden jewels. Though beautiful, the planet grew old, so old that all of her given names had been long forgotten. She was a nameless sphere circling a nameless star at the edge of an unraveling spiral, just another casualty of inevitability.

In her twilight, she was home to a wild forest that had claimed a massive continent for a kingdom and had remained untouched for hundreds of years. She was...

Excerpt: Slumfairy

Sumida was in a standing position now, feet still planted in the craft’s footholds, one hand bracing her weight against a handlebar and the other shielding her eyes from something blinding that only she could see.

“What now?” Bex squinted up into the nothingness up ahead. “I don’t see anything.”

The words were barely out of her mouth when noise came raining down. The air became electrified. Glittery dots were drifting down, flakes of starlight swallowing up the darkness.

“It was a trap, you know...

FridayFlash: Descent

You know it, that sinking feeling.

See, there’s this deep pit filled with sludge. The sludge possesses a malicious sort of magnetism. It’ll reach slimy fingers out and drag you into the muck by your toenails. It’ll suck you down into the mire. You’ll sink so deep that you’ll forget that the sensation clawing away at your insides is fear.

You’ll forget that the delicious pain in your head, that deep and jerky strumming and the red roar in your head is just you—slowly, steadily suffocating. You’l...

Blood Binds #4

- Crack of Dawn -

Furious voices dragged Hel out of the depths of sleep. She stumbled out of bed and stalked out. She stopped in her tracks, eyes widening at the dust-laden kid who stood just beyond the threshold. Blinding rays of sunlight were steadily creeping upward behind him. Charls was blocking him from entering the apartment, scowling at the would-be-intruder.

She hurried forward. “Kyle?”

What on earth was he even doing here?

The younger man grinned gratefully when he caught site of Hel. “...
