The Leviathans that Inspired Slumfairy

These days, when I see the word “leviathan” two examples immediately come to mind. The first is Moya fromFarscape. Moya was the stolen prisoner transport ship that became home to John Crichton and friends. She was massive–as the “Leviathan Transport” designation suggests, and full of mysteries.

Thanks to the likes of classic SF author Anne McCaffrey, an intelligent ship with a will and mind of her own is not such a new idea. A ship that actually gave birth though, that’s certainly one remarkab...

Slumfairy – the Ebook is Here!

Slumfairy by Tonya R. Moore

Hegira is a leviathan ship, home to thousands of sapient alien races.

This ship of legend left behind by a nearly extinct race of beings called Starchasers is apowerhouse barreling across galaxies. There are many who seek to take control of this rare jewel but to control this ship, one must control her pilot.

Bex Atria cares little about the ambitions of those who seek power. Jaded as they come, the bounty hunter is resentful when tasked with playing bodyguard to thesheltered creature about to...

Blood Binds #7

Harvesting Hearts

Colonies of fleshy globules thrived in the stagnant sea-ball left over from high tide, months gone. Inside their translucent bodies, veiny hearts the size of golf balls fluttered steadily. The air stank of silt going to rot. Kyle was knee-deep in the muck and not relishing a second of it.

Hel’s witchy niece satbetween the massive toes of the closest tree, on the verge of nodding off to sleep.

It was nigh noon. Salty woods, with their twisted boughs and cotton-candy soft canopi...

Webserials on Wattpad

I’ve finally posted my on-going webserials to my Wattpad account. I’ve been meaning to for some time now, so it felt go to finally get that underway. I’d also decided to post a few of my older short stories there too but so far, I’ve only managed to add one story. There will be another 2 or 3 forthcoming, over the next few days.

The two not-so-new webserials are Dorian’s Task and Pandora’s Lament– LGBT space operas that take place in the same universe. Although they are completely separate sto...

Blood Binds #6

- Half Baked Prodigy, Part Two-

Light flooded Hel’s senses. The noise had stopped. Charls lay, out cold on the floor a few feet away. When did that happen? Her mind was mired in quicksand. Bony fingers encircled her wrists. The wraith-like figure of a girl kept flashing in and out of her awareness.

“It’s really you!” She heard the choked, almost hysterical laugh. “I finally found you!”

Hel’s vision blurred, and then brightened. A pair of over-bright black eyes met hers. Their owner was thin, mal...

Jamie Haden’s “Talisa Santiago” Series

Today’s guest at SIGNAL+ is Jamie Haden, introducing her“Talisa Santiago Series” of novels.

Who is Talisa Santiago?

This is never an easy question to answer because who we are changes, sometimes on a daily basis. It is often customary to hear a person say, “I’m not the same as I was back then,” or “I’m different now.” Although this may be the case, what I have come to learn is, our thoughts about ourselves, and our thoughts towards others, can certainly change, yet, in the end, our essence rema...

Then and Now

In the Past

I thought I might like to live in Alaska for a while, some far out place where I’d be surrounded by ice all the time. I thought the isolation might do me some good. I thought I’d like the contradiction of blinding sunlight and ice freezing my senses.

I wanted to spot whales playing hide and seek with icebergs and watch the endless progression of glaciers.

I wondered what cracking ice sounds like from miles away. A bullet, thunder? Maybe rain? I often wondered. If I lived by the froz...

Music for the Muses #1

Today’s offering is Gordiev Jazol’s – “Vizija,” – which has been matched with scenes from the groundbreaking documentary, “Baraka.”

The result is a highly cerebral video that’s bound to set your spine a-tingle.

Gordiev Jazol is a band from Macedonia. Sadly, this is the only song of theirs I’ve heard. I simply adorethis song!
