ITL

Are we eager for Orinakin to get home, to bring Kudorin and Xio Voe closer together?

Or do we want Orinakin to stay in Seijaces so T'rin can stay with us a little bit longer?

Available as a mousepad, so I can rub my, uh, mouse all over it

Yum.

Note to self: crush on Darren Hayes still alive and kicking.

Quick poll

Out of curiosity, who here has heard of the Wonder Girls?

The Korean girl group that was on tour with the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sparks. They sing "Tell Me," "So Hot," and "Irony." "Nobody" was on the Billboard Hot 100.

Raise your hand if you have any idea what I'm talking about.

World AIDS Day, December 1st

From amfAR:

Since HIV/AIDS was first reported almost three decades ago, the virus has decimated populations around the globe and results in approximately 2 million deaths each year.

In 2008, the last year for which figures are available, 2.7 million people were newly infected with HIV, 40 percent of whom were young people between the ages of 15 and 24. The number of new infections continues to outpace the number of people receiving treatment.

Also from amfAR:

Ugandan law already criminalizes "car...

Thanksgiving

I hope that everyone celebrating and giving thanks tomorrow has a terrific, happy, safe time.

I hope that those of you traveling are safe and healthy. May traffic be light, may gas be cheap, and may flights be less crowded than usual.

I hope that those of you hosting dinners for family/friends have fun. May your guests be grateful, may the cooking go smoothly, and may the dishes wash themselves for once.

I hope that those of you volunteering get plenty of hugs, because you deserve it.

And I hop...

Donate wisely

This is the time of year then those cheerful bells ring and the Salvation Army asks you to drop off a small donation for charity.

But the Salvation Army has a few problems it needs to deal with. Like discriminating against the queer population at all costs . Like making shady deals with Karl Rove while trying to discriminate against gay and lesbian employees .

I recommend, instead of donating money to the Salvation Army, drop a note in the bucket, explaining that your money is going to ...

Christmas shopping

My nephew's first Christmas is coming up next month, and I want to get him something terrific as a gift. (I'd also like to get my sister something that might make her life easier. Maybe I should move in and do her housework for her. Or would that make her life more difficult?)

Anyway, so I lost five minutes on-line, clicking around, wondering what to get. (I'll probably just end up asking my sister for gift ideas, but you never know, I could come up with a terrific idea on my own. It's po...

Day of Remembrance

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28th, 1998 kicked off the "Remembering Our Dead" web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Rita Hester's murder — like most anti-transgender murder cases — has yet to be solved.

This year, we remember Yasmin, Roberta Gavou, Noelia, Taysia Elzy, Michael Hunt, Kátia Otacílio...
